Factors Influencing Employee Engagement And Performance In Hybrid Work Environments, Saif Alblooshi
Factors Influencing Employee Engagement And Performance In Hybrid Work Environments, Saif Alblooshi
Theses
The widespread adoption of hybrid work arrangements, in which employees divide their working time between remote and office-based settings, has fundamentally altered how organisations manage, measure, and sustain workforce engagement and performance. While hybrid models offer tangible benefits such as increased autonomy, reduced commuting burden, and greater scheduling flexibility, they simultaneously introduce a set of organisational challenges that conventional management frameworks were not designed to address. Chief among these challenges is the difficulty of maintaining consistent levels of employee engagement across distributed work settings, where informal communication, social connection, and direct managerial oversight are structurally constrained. The absence of robust, …

Reconstructing Stand-Age Structure In A Wet Miombo Woodland Using Dendrochronology, Zambia, Clara Tiyembekeze Zulu
All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Dendrochronological research in tropical Africa has remained limited, leaving critical gaps in stand-age structure and climate-growth relationships in seasonally dry tropical woodlands. This study reconstructed stand-age structure and assessed climate sensitivity in the wet Miombo woodland of African Explosives Limited (AEL) forest, Copperbelt Province, Zambia. Field sampling was conducted during four African Dendrochronology Fieldschools (2021-2024) using a Modified Variable Area Transect (MVAT) design across nine plots. The series intercorrelation was 0.351; the average mean sensitivity was 0.423. The oldest tree was 170 years old, and more than 70% of the sampled species showed potential for dendrochronology. Markhamia obtusifolia was the …

From The Band Hall To The Classroom: A Qualitative Study On Curriculum Design In Successful Texas Bands To Support Student Success, Amy R. Bennett
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Texas band programs have captured national attention for student achievement. This qualitative study examined curricular elements shared among perennially successful Texas band programs to explore whether these practices could inform curriculum development in other academic settings to support student success in indicators such as student academic achievement, behavior, and attendance. The data collection phase consisted of semi-structured interviews with fine arts administrators, campus administrators, and band directors associated with school districts of multiple perennially successful band programs. Through thematic analysis, collaboration and observation emerged as themes that influenced curriculum development among the participants; a focus on student experience, written curriculum, …

My session was a vehicle for helping these students experience or visualize how the program’s Philosophy for Children (P4C) approach could be applied to exploring and discussing mathematics with children.
Mathematicians Against The Tide, Nicola Ciccoli
Mathematicians Against The Tide, Nicola Ciccoli
Journal of Humanistic Mathematics
Mathematicians in popular culture are often depicted as people obsessed by their studies but with little connection to society, poor social skills, mental issues and narrow interests, and more generally a dull life. Adding to these explicit stereotypes, subtler and more implicit ones also abound, regarding mathematicians’ gender, ethnicity, age; they are all supposed to be white middle-aged men. In this paper I describe a project aimed at disrupting such stereotypes that culminated in a book containing short comics and biographies of twentieth-century mathematicians that were, with respect to the perceived image of mathematicians, against the tide.

Digital Transformation And Sme Economic Contribution In Saudi Arabia: A Critical Analysis Through The Dynamic Capabilities Lens, Rodrigo Bochner
Digital Transformation And Sme Economic Contribution In Saudi Arabia: A Critical Analysis Through The Dynamic Capabilities Lens, Rodrigo Bochner
Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Economics and Administration
This analytical essay examines the intersection between digital transformation initiatives and small-to-medium enterprise (SME) economic contribution within Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 framework. Drawing upon dynamic capabilities theory and analysis of government data, academic literature, and policy documents, we explore how digital transformation intensity influences SME performance and their contribution to economic diversification objectives. Government reports reveal that SMEs in Saudi Arabia grew from 429,026 enterprises in 2016 to over 1.8 million in 2024, yet contribute only 30% to GDP versus the Vision 2030 target of 35%. Concurrently, Saudi Arabia has achieved fourth place globally in digital government services and sixth …

Foreword From Editors - 19th Edition: Community Stewardship Towards Sustainable Futures, Yandi Andri Yatmo, Kristanti Dewi Paramita, Rini Suryantini
ASEAN Journal of Community Engagement
The discussions highlighted from the articles in this AJCE edition focuses on the institutionalization, process, and implication of community in stewarding their living environment. Such focus expands the community engagement discourse, highlighting how the act of stewardships creates a sense of shared responsibility of actors to their shared spaces and resources. In turn, this shared responsibility enables the community to shift from passive act of participation to active empowerment, creates social cohesion, and establishes local governance. Such a shift towards active empowerment and shared responsibility is the key in building systemic resilience, towards a more sustainable future for society.

Ethnographic Insights Into Community-Based Circular Economy: The Case Of Waste Banks In Semarang, Rahoyo Rahoyo, Teti Susilowati, Sri Purwantini, Darto Sachius, Wilson M. A. Therik
ASEAN Journal of Community Engagement
The linear economy model has led to severe environmental degradation, prompting a shift toward the circular economy (CE) framework to promote sustainability. However, CE literature often overlooks grassroots, community-based initiatives in urban contexts, particularly in the Global South. This study addresses that gap by examining waste banks in Semarang, Indonesia, highlighting the critical importance of these grassroots initiatives within the broader discourse of community engagement. Using an ethnographic approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and open-ended survey responses across multiple community waste banks. The findings reveal the complex interdependence of four key actors—waste banks, itinerant collectors, scavengers, …

Choreographies Of Peruvian Reality: Conflicts In Surf Media's Digital Worlds, Tuck Rodi
Proceedings of the annual meeting of the Southern Anthropological Society
This paper mobilizes the concept of the choreography of surfing to analyze networks of surfers, media creators, digital technologies, and development NGOs through which surfing becomes a device for sociopolitical and economic projects in Peru. Surf media, this paper’s object of analysis, includes all films, video blogs, and documents that incorporate surfing as a constitutive ingredient in their visual and discursive content. With the rise of online video-sharing platforms, surf media has become a digital world unto itself. This world is made through interactions among viewers, photographers, and their surfing subjects. Democratization of video-sharing platforms capacitates filmmakers to break from …
Tourism, Security, And Sacred Space At Bethany Beyond The Jordan, Olivia Stockwell
Tourism, Security, And Sacred Space At Bethany Beyond The Jordan, Olivia Stockwell
Proceedings of the annual meeting of the Southern Anthropological Society
Bethany Beyond the Jordan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site advertised as the baptismal site of Jesus of Nazareth, lies on the border between Jordan and the occupied West Bank. Based on first-person observation, this article provides a semiotic analysis of how tourist spaces, commodification, and security infrastructure interact to create perceptions of sacred space. When placed in conversation with the historical and political contexts of the site, these factors provide insight into how meanings of sacrality are generated. I argue that notions of the sacred at Bethany Beyond the Jordan are shaped by tourism spaces and their organizing of ritual …

Emancipation, Decolonization, And Gender In The Context Of African Integration, Luwam Dirar
Florida Journal of International Law
The 1960s institutionalization and formalization of Africa’s continental integration was a manifestation of the ontological fragility of the concept of emancipation in the African context. As a concept, continental emancipation excluded concerns of women and formalized the divorce between decolonization and racial domination on the one hand and social emancipatory movements on the other. This divorce was contrary to the expectation of women who sought the end of colonial subjugation as a turning point for women’s emancipation from not only colonial and racial domination but also from social oppression. This Article argues that the continental emancipation project betrayed the hopes …

Charismatic Leaders Role And Challenges During Crises, Tamer Hassan Abutahoun Phd
Journal of the North American Management Society
Since the first article about charismatic leadership by Weber was issued in 1946, numerous pieces of research have been published discussing several aspects of charismatic leadership. One of these aspects is the role of the charismatic leader during crisis and whether it is being impacted by crises or emerged during crises. Several articles have been published to investigate the role of charismatic leadership during crises along with how individuals perceived charismatic leadership during crises. Most of these articles utilized case studies to investigate the former mentioned relationship. However, each of these studies investigated the relationship between crises and charismatic leadership …

From Access To Accountability: Closing The Nonprofit Data Gap In Fintech Lending, Oluwatomisin Olubakinde
Journal of Nonprofit Innovation
Financial technology is often treated as a promising path toward financial inclusion. Mobile banking, alternative credit scoring, and AI-assisted underwriting have expanded access to financial products, but access alone does not guarantee fair outcomes. This piece frames fintech accountability as a nonprofit data accessibility issue. Nonprofits working in financial inclusion cannot fully evaluate fintech referrals or partnerships when the data behind approval decisions, pricing patterns, denial reasons, and appeal pathways remain inaccessible. Drawing on research in fintech lending and algorithmic fairness, the paper shows how data inputs, model design, and approval thresholds shape who benefits from fintech and who may …

This study addresses the critical gap in tsunami disaster mitigation education and the lack of interactive, contextually field-based disaster education media. It develops and evaluates a tsunami preparedness medium using a Marker-Based Augmented Reality (MBAR) approach, specifically tailored to the tsunami risk profile of Karangbolong Village, Kebumen Regency, Indonesia. Methodologically, the study integrates three frameworks: a disaster literacy model (knowledge, skills, attitudes), a disaster literacy continuum (basic to critical), and the UNESCO-IOC Tsunami Ready 12-indicator framework, combining them into a single instructional product developed through the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC). This integration of all three frameworks into one locally …
Should We Flee? The Mortality And Economic Impacts Of Hurricane Evacuation Orders, Lucas Kaplan
Should We Flee? The Mortality And Economic Impacts Of Hurricane Evacuation Orders, Lucas Kaplan
Center for Policy Research
I estimate the mortality and county-level regional economic impacts of hurricane evacuation orders using a novel instrumental variables framework. Relative to similarly affected but non-evacuated areas, evacuated counties experience fewer deaths but lower personal income, employment, and business establishments into the second year following the storm, likely stemming from delayed returns in wealthier neighborhoods. I then develop a threshold decision rule that balances the mortality benefits against these persistent economic costs and apply this framework to orders issued from 2016–2022. Incorporating these persistent economic costs alters policy evaluation: the largest orders generate net benefits that dwarf their costs, but the …

Stereotypes and prejudice are forms of judgement that appear in daily life, including toward children. Children are often targeted to judgments based on stereotypes and prejudice in social interactions. One media that addresses this issue is the children’s series Moooment! Episode Shopping (2021), which depicts the experience of a child character facing suspicion and judgement from people in public spaces. This study examines the child’s perspective through the position of the child character as both object and subject of stereotypes and prejudice, as well as the negotiation strategies employed in response. The series is analyzed using a descriptive qualitative method, …

Islamic art in the Nusantara (Indonesian Archipelago) represents a fusion of Islamic tradition and local cultural wisdom that flourished through coastal trade routes. One of the most distinctive manifestations of this fusion is the art of srabad Cirebon. Etymologically, the term srabad derives from the Javanese expression "mingser saking abad", meaning the transition from the Hindu era to the Islamic era. This art form presents anthropomorphic elements uncommon in conventional Islamic artistic tradition, in which icons of living creatures are specifically constructed from the structure of Qur'anic verses. Studies that examine the relationship between the depiction of living creature icons …

The Toba eruption approximately 74,000 years ago was one of the largest volcanic events of the Quaternary and is often associated with the catastrophic hypothesis, which argues that the event caused extreme global cooling and severe reductions in human populations. However, recent studies suggest that its impacts were less destructive than previously assumed. This paper examines the position of Lida Ajer Cave within the context of the Toba eruption through a literature review of archaeological, geological, and paleoenvironmental publications. The review shows that the presence of Homo sapiens at Lida Ajer, dated to approximately 73,000–63,000 years ago, places the site …

International Review of Humanities Studies
Southeast Asia remains a region marked by numerous interstate border disputes. Among these, the Thailand–Cambodia border dispute surrounding the Preah Vihear Temple, located between Sisaket Province in Thailand and Preah Vihear Province in Cambodia, represents one of the conflicts with the greatest potential to affect regional stability and harmony in the region. This dispute extends beyond questions of territorial sovereignty, encompassing the construction of national identity, historical memory, and the domestic political dynamics of both countries. This article examines the representation of nationalism in Boundary (2013), a documentary film directed by Thai independent filmmaker Nontawat Numbenchapol. Drawing on perspectives interdisciplinary …
