How does religious language influence Frantz Fanon’s Decolonial theory and ethics onviolence in the struggle for decolonization and disalienation? This is the question I address in this dissertation carefully observing Patrick Crowley's mention of the presence of religious language in Fanon's work. Crowley’s argument is that Fanon’s thought is apocalyptical in structure and is marked by a dramatic sense of temporality prior to his arrival in Algeria. The mountain communities of Karakorum and the Himalayas in Pakistan are frequently experiencing climate change-induced natural disasters, which are inflicting irreparable losses to their generation's old value system and socio-economic life. Focusing on the value system, this small-scale study explored the change in values and perceptions of a disaster-affected mountain community about natural hazards and its implications for their future lives. Twenty participants from the affected community, including local political activists, religious leaders, teachers, and youth activists, were thoroughly interviewed. Understanding landscape and climate influences on sediment transport is critical for managing river basins sustainably. This study investigates hydrological-sediment dynamics in the upper Ping and Nan River Basins in northern Thailand. The research focuses on three objectives: (1) identifying types and temporal trends of hysteresis between discharge and sediment concentration (Q–SSC); (2) quantifying interactions among hydrological and vegetation variables using Principal Component Analysis (PCA); and (3) analyzing structural relationships among climate, vegetation, and sediment transport through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). In North American cities, the land use and transportation systems are associated with low-density, suburban-type urban development, where the built environment contributes to a mobility pattern that is extremely reliant on automobiles. Several studies in the past decades have documented noticeable and concerning patterns of unjust and unsustainable transportation in this context. As a result, for those population groups with limited access to private transportation, this form of urban structure is equivalent to limited access to opportunities, leading to various environmental and social problems. Multinational Asset Management Firms must now navigate the evolving and varied disclosure and labeling requirements they are subjected to across multiple jurisdictions. This Article provides a brief history of ESG disclosure regulation and provides a summary of the enacted and proposed regulations and identifies the biggest points of contention between the regulations and provides suggestions for a more comprehensive standardized regulatory framework.

This Article proposes a multi-layered approach to ensuring equality of water access. The legal doctrines for managing water flow in the United States include the public trust doctrine. In contrast, many countries are beginning to establish personhood rights for water. The greenhouse to icehouse transition at the Eocene-Oligocene boundary (34 Ma) marked the appearance of continental-scale glaciation in Antarctica. The material recovered from Ocean Drilling Program Site 696 is the only record spanning this major climatic shift in the Weddell Sea region. Using scanning electron microscopy, quartz microtextures in 13 samples across the Eocene-Oligocene transition were analyzed to understand the degree of glacial modification and the transportation history of the >150 µm material. The quartz grains were visually grouped, characterized, and interpreted by grain outline, relief, and surface microtextures. The purpose of this study was to: 1) better understand food insecurity among first-generation college students and how it might differ from that of other college students, and 2) gather opinions from students that may serve as solutions to alleviate food insecurity. This study was conducted with a mixed-methods survey that included both open-ended and closed-ended questions. This survey had 670 responses. Nearly 10% of respondents stated that they were experiencing food insecurity. Almost 18% stated they were first-generation college students. A greater percentage of African American (P = 0.0022) and Hispanic Latino (P < 0.0001) students were first-generation compared to all other students, while a lower percentage (P < 0.0001) of Caucasian students were first-generation compared to other students. The results suggested that first-generation students were more likely to experience nine food insecurity impacts than non first-generation students. Further, both first-generation and non first-generation students indicated low levels of knowledge and/or use of existing resources on the University of Arkansas campus that can help address food insecurity needs. Finally, both first-generation and non first-generation respondents overwhelmingly favored food insecurity solutions centered around expanding access to campus food programs through lower costs and increased awareness of existing campus resources via improved advertising.

Lotic waterways are vital for habitat, food, water, and flood protection, but urbanization poses a major threat to their integrity. Runoff from urban surfaces leads to pollution, flashiness, loss of biodiversity, and other symptoms, also known as Urban Stream Syndrome (USS). Streams can be restored in order to combat USS, but most restorations are not monitored, so their long-term effectiveness is unknown. A major objective of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture (UADA) Fruit Breeding program is to improve the texture of blackberry (Rubus subgenus Rubus Watson). Blackberry varieties with improved fruit firmness transport and store well and may maintain superior quality under challenging postharvest conditions than softer varieties. Increased firmness may also make cultivars less susceptible to red drupelet reversion (RDR), a postharvest disorder of blackberries in which fully black drupelets revert to red after harvest. Background: In the United States (U.S.), falls are the leading cause of injury among adults 65 and over, resulting in 36 million falls yearly (Moreland et al., 2020). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, 2023), one in four older adults experiences a fall each year. Falls are the world's second most prominent cause of accidental deaths (World Health Organization [WHO], 2021). Falls are the leading cause of both fatal and non-fatal injuries among older adults (Moreland et al., 2020).

Despite political and environmental controversy, research has shown that not only do offshore wind farms have minimal impact on birds, whales, and benthic organisms, but they can actually be beneficial to marine ecosystems. การศึกษานี้เป็นการศึกษาภาคตัดขวาง ซึ่งมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างเสียงจากการจราจร กับการตอบสนองของประชาชนในชุมชน เพื่อเป็นแนวทางในการกำหนดมาตรฐานเสียงรบกวนที่เกิดจากการจราจรในย่านพานิชยกรรมและที่อยู่อาศัยหนาแน่นมากในเขตเทศบาลนครหาดใหญ่ การเก็บข้อมูลใช้เครื่องตรวจวัดเลียง (Sound level meter) ยี่ห้อ NA-27 type 1 วัดระดับเสียงเฉลี่ย 15ชั่วโมง (L_eq15 hr) และ ระดับเสียง percentile ที่ 10 (L₁₀) รวม 6 จุด โดยแต่ละจุดจะวัดทั้งวันธรรมดาและวันหยุดราชการ ในช่วงระยะเวลา 07.00-22.00 น. และขณะวัดเสียงในชุมชนจะสัมภาษณ์ประชาชนที่อาศัยอยู่รอบพื้นที่ศึกษาจำนวน 246 คนเกี่ยวกับลักษณะประชากรบ้านพักอาศัยความไวต่อเสียง โรคประจำตัวและโรคทางหูผดกระทบและความรำคาญจากเสียง และสุขภาพจิต ผลการศึกษาพบ ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างความรำคาญกับระดับเสียงเฉลี่ย 15 ชั่วโมง เป็นแบบแปรผันตรงด้วย ค่าสัมประสิทธิสหสัมพันธ์0.8292 และจากการวิเคราะห์ด้วยสถิติพหุคูณพบปัจจัยเพิ่มความรำคาญได้แก่ การประกอบอาชีพลูกจ้างหรือนักเรียนนักศึกษา แหล่งเสียงภายนอกบ้าน ความคิดเห็นว่าเสียงเป็นมลภาวะระดับมากและมากที่สุด เสียงจราจรที่รบกวนการทำงานและการนอนหลับ ส่วนปัจจัยลดความรำคาญได้แก่ ลักษณะที่พักอาศัยแบบตึกแถว แต่ปัจจัยอื่นๆไม่มีผล เมื่อนำค่าความน่าจะเป็นที่ได้จากสมการปรุงปรับเพื่อลดอิทธิพลตัวแปรกวนต่างๆมาพล็อตกับระดับความรำคาญ โดยใช้แบบจำลองถดถอยเชิงเส้นอย่างง่ายพบว่า ระดับเสียงที่ทำให้คนร้อยละ 20 เกิดความรู้สึกรำคาญมีค่า 68.2 เดซิเบล

ความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพของสมุนไพร บริเวณริมแม่น้ำเหือง อำเภอนาแห้ว จังหวัดเลย ที่มีผลต่อการยับยั้งการเจริญของเชื้อก่อโรคในระบบทางเดินอาหาร, วีรวัฒน์ กนกนุเคราะห์

การสำรวจสภาพพื้นที่ป่าบริเวณริมฝังแม่น้ำเหือง อำเภอนาแห้ว จังหวัดเลย ซึ่งเป็นเขตรอยต่อระหว่างประเทศไทยและลาว ในพื้นที่ครอบคลุมประมาณ 24 ตารางกิโลเมตร ที่ระดับความสูงตั้งแต่ 400-1,200 เมตร พบว่าสภาพป่าส่วนใหญ่มีลักษณะเป็นป่าดิบชื้น ป่าดิบเขา และป่าเต็งรัง จากการรวบรวมตัวอย่างพรรณไม้ประมาณ 300 ตัวอย่าง พบว่ามีลักษณะเป็นพืชสมุนไพร 70 ชนิด แต่มีเพียง 15 ชนิด ที่คาดว่าน่าจะมีผลต่อการยับยังการเจริญของเชื้อก่อโรคในระบบทางเดินอาหาร เมื่อทำการสกัดแห้งสมุนไพรทั้ง 15 ชนิด และนำสารสกัดที่ได้มาทดสอบฤทธิ์ในการยับยั้งการเจริญของเชื้อแบคทีเรีย 4 ชนิด ที่ก่อให้เกิดโรคระบบทางเดินอาหารคือ Escherichia coli Shigella dysenteriae Salmonella typhosa และ Vibrio cholerae ด้วยวิธีการ disc diffusion บนอาหารเลี้ยงเชื้อ พบว่าสารสกัดจากเปลือกผลของมังคุด ด้วยน้ำกลั่นสามารถยับยั้งการเจริญของเชื้อ E. coli ได้ สารสกัดจากใบโกฏจุฬาลำพาด้วยไดเอธิล อีเธอร์สามารถยับยังการเจริญของเชื้อ ร. dysenteriae ได้ ขณะทีเชื้อ S. typhosa ถูกยับยั้งการเจริญด้วยสารสกัดจากเปลือกผลสมอพิเภก, กลีบดอกคูน หรือใบเปล้าน้อยที่ใช้ไอโซโพรพานอล 80% เป็นตัวทำละลาย แต่ไม่พบว่ามีสารสกัดจากสมุนไพรชนิดใดสามารถออกฤทธิ์ยับยั้งการเจริญของเชอ V. cholerae ได้

California faces a dire housing crisis. California’s land-use regulatory system remains a key driver of this crisis. State law grants local governments broad power to craft their own regulations on how to review and approve housing development. Though state law may limit a locality’s ability to outright deny some types of housing development, local governments can and do use creative ways to stall approvals or functionally deny housing by making it infeasible to develop. Introduction: Studies have documented high levels of pesticide exposure among men farmworkers; however, few have examined exposures or the experiences of women farmworkers. Data gaps also exist regarding farmworkers’ perceived risk and control related to pesticides, information that is critical to develop protective interventions.

Objective: We aimed to compare urinary pesticide biomarker concentrations between Latino and Latina farmworkers and examine associations with occupational characteristics, risk perceptions, perceived control, and protective behaviors.
