2024 Proceedings Of The 30th Annual Summer Research Symposium, College Of The Holy Cross
Summer Research Program
Welcome to the 2024 Dr. Charles S. Weiss Summer Research Symposium. This esteemed event, now in its 30th year, serves as a platform for faculty and students from various disciplines at Holy Cross to showcase their accomplishments from the summer of 2024. It is also an opportunity for students to gain insight into the wide range of research possibilities both on and off campus and engage in discussions with faculty about conducting research in the upcoming academic year and summer.
The symposium and program are named after Charles "Chick" Weiss, a venerated professor and scholar who joined the psychology faculty …

Overview For Exploring The Multisensory Landscape, Brent Chamberlain, Richard Smardon
Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning Faculty Publications
Land use change has had a fundamental impact on the livelihoods of people throughout the world. This Special Issue focuses on the research being conducted at the intersection of this land use change and the importance of maintaining landscapes that enrich humanity and our engagement with nature. Within this Special Issue, we explored the value of landscapes that heighten the senses. Visual Resource Stewardship is an area of research that closely aligns with understanding how changes in the environment may be perceived and experienced. Understanding the tools, processes, and theories involved helps us to better understand how land use change …
The Effect Of Sustainable Leadership In Entrepreneurial Performance: Analytical Research, Sara Hamid Diad, Suheir Adel Hamed
The Effect Of Sustainable Leadership In Entrepreneurial Performance: Analytical Research, Sara Hamid Diad, Suheir Adel Hamed
Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences
The current research aims to test the relationship and effect of sustainable leadership its dimensions (cohesive diversity, organizational justice, employee development, progress and advancement, and work-life balance) as independent variables on entrepreneurial performance with its dimensions (creativity and innovation, reputation, proactiveness, self-evaluation) as dependent variables in the Ministry of Science and Technology. Additionally, the study seeks to identify the levels of availability and utilization of sustainable leadership that are more suitable for the current conditions in the ministry. The research aims to provide a set of recommendations contributing to the enhancement of the practice and adoption of the variables within …
A Comparison Between Speckman And Bayesian Estimation Method Of A Semiparametric Balanced Longitudinal Data Model, Ahmed Abdulsamad Habeeb, Qutaiba N. Nayef Al-Qazaz
A Comparison Between Speckman And Bayesian Estimation Method Of A Semiparametric Balanced Longitudinal Data Model, Ahmed Abdulsamad Habeeb, Qutaiba N. Nayef Al-Qazaz
Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences
This paper aims to use semi-parametric regression to balanced longitudinal data model, where the parametric regression models suffer from the problem of strict constraints, while non-parametric regression models, despite their flexibility, suffer from the problem of the curse of dimensionality. Consequently, semi-parametric regression is an ideal solution to get rid of the problems that parametric and non-parametric regression suffer from. The great advantage of this model is that it contains all the positive features included in the previous two models, such as containing strict restrictions in its parametric component, complete flexibility in its non-parametric component, and clarity of the interaction …
The Effect Of The Adoption Of International Financial Reporting Standards (Ifrs) On The Asymmetry Of Accounting Information, Zahraa Taleb Abdullah, Mohammed Abdullah Ibrahim
The Effect Of The Adoption Of International Financial Reporting Standards (Ifrs) On The Asymmetry Of Accounting Information, Zahraa Taleb Abdullah, Mohammed Abdullah Ibrahim
Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences
The research aims to clarify the impact of adopting International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) on the asymmetry of accounting information. To achieve the research goal, the researchers selected commercial banks listed on the Iraq Stock Exchange as a research community, specifying (12) commercial banks as a sample for the research, and relied on the financial statements. Actually, for a period of (6) years (2013-2018), divided into (3) years before the adoption of IFRS and three years after the adoption of IFRS.A measure of the dispersion of financial analysts' forecasts was used to measure the impact of adopting IFRS on the …

Basal materials in ice cores hold information about paleoclimate conditions, glacial processes, and the timing of past ice-free intervals, all of which aid understanding of ice sheet stability and its contribution to sea level rise in a warming climate. Only a few cores have been drilled through ice sheets into the underlying sediment and bedrock, producing limited material for analysis. The last of three Camp Century ice cores, which the U.S. Army collected in northwestern Greenland from 1963-1966 CE, recovered about 3.5 m of subglacial material, including ice and sediment. Here, we document the scientific history of the Camp Century …

Parasites are generally associated with lower income countries in tropical and subtropical areas. Still, they are also prevalent in low-income communities in the southern United States. Studies characterizing the epidemiology of parasites in the United States are limited, resulting in little comprehensive understanding of the problem. This study investigated the environmental contamination of parasites in the southern United States by determining each parasite's contamination rate and burden in five low-income communities. A total of 499 soil samples of approximately 50 g were collected from public parks and private residences in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Texas. A technique using …
