Liu-Type Estimator In Inverse Gaussian Regression Model Based On (R-(K-D)) Class Estimator, Zeina Ameer Hadied, Oday Esam Al-Saqal, Zakariya Yahya Algamal

Iraqi Journal for Computer Science and Mathematics

When multicollinearity arises in the inverse Gaussian regression (IGR), there is a substantially unstable variance in the maximum likelihood estimator. Based on the (r-(k-d)) class estimation method, we present a novel Liu-type estimator in the IGR model in this study. The study examines the e ectiveness of the suggested estimator and draws comparisons with alternative estimators. Based on simulation and real data results, the suggested estimate performs better than the other estimators in terms of mean squared error.

A Recycling Case Study: Gettysburg College, Luke Francek

My project addresses the issue of non-recyclable Van Doren reed cases at Gettysburg College and proposes a community-based solution to mitigate waste. It outlines the environmental impact of improperly handled reed cases, presents research on reed usage and material recyclability, and proposes two initiatives: an education campaign and a dedicated collection receptacle for proper disposal. The proposal emphasizes collaboration with faculty, localized recycling efforts, and the potential for broader replication in other communities.

One of the areas of health that has been consistently understudied, however, is one that affects us all: environmental health or the effects that the chemicals we are exposed to every day have on our acute and chronic health. This effect can be exacerbated during and shortly after pregnancy, as an individual exposure is often shared by both the mother and the fetus/neonate. The 17 Principles of Environmental Justice developed in 1991 at the First National People of Color Environmental Leadership Summit remains a touchstone document today. Understanding how the traits of lineages are related to diversification is key for elucidating the origin of variation in species richness. Here, we test whether traits are related to species richness among lineages of trees from all major biogeographical settings of the lowland wet tropics. We explore whether variation in mortality rate, breeding system and maximum diameter are related to species richness, either directly or via associations with range size, among 463 genera that contain wet tropical forest trees. The Geographical Bulletin

First published in 1974, Yi-Fu Tuan's work Topophilia has become one of the most cited works in human geography. Using the method of citation analysis and data from the Citation Indexes, this paper explores the frequency of Topophilia's inclusion as a reference in scholarly literature. A temporal trend is identified, which indicates that citation to Topophilia rose in the late 1970s, dropped in the early 1980s, but rose again in the late 1980s. Within journals, the references to Topophilia by geographers has declined since the 1980s while citations in literature in the humanities has increased since the late 1980s. A …

The soil is the primary environmental reservoir for many parasites transmitted to humans that cause disease. Our environmental study used a multiparallel real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction assay to detect parasite DNA in soil collected from the outdoor built environments of 34 houses in rural Yucatan, Mexico. The number of positive houses (n, %) per parasite species was 18 (53%) for Acanthamoeba spp.; four (12%) for Blastocystis spp. and Ascaris lumbricoides; three (9%) for Toxocara canis; and one (3%) for Ancylostoma spp., Trichuris trichiura, Entamoeba histolytica, and Giardia intestinalis. In the pandemic- and post-pandemic era, new as well as exacerbated work-life stressors have led academia to recognize the vital role wellness plays in teaching and learning. While most institutional and pedagogical response has understandably focused on students’ holistic health, this essay promotes increased instructor self-care as a necessary complement to supporting learners in higher education. By practicing meditative exercises drawn from contemplative pedagogy, faculty and instructional staff can create synergy between mindfulness strategies that we might invite students to try and our own attention to the whole self outside class. Tanks and earthen embankments used for water harvesting and storage have been a significant part of India's irrigation system since the 2nd and 3rd centuries. In Tamil Nadu, around 39,202 tanks have storage capacities of around 178.94 million cubic feet. However, they have been impacted by natural and anthropogenic threats such as soil erosion, siltation, inadequate rainfall, and drought. This study aims to determine the current storage capacity of tanks, estimate the loss in storage capacity/volume of silt, estimate the rate of siltation and life of tanks, identify soil erosion-prone zones, and map deteriorating parameters along supply channels.

An important question in restoration ecology is whether restored ecological regimes are more vulnerable to transitions back to a degraded state. In woody-invaded grasslands, high-intensity fire can collapse woody plant communities and induce a shift back to a grass-dominated regime. Yet, legacies from woody-dominated regimes often persist and it remains unclear whether restored regimes are at heightened vulnerability to reinvasion. Systematic studies of temperature using consistent, field-validated methods are needed to make inter- and intra-urban heat comparisons and to prioritize resources and mitigation strategies. This study investigated spatial patterns of heat hazard across 10 small- to medium- sized cities in Virginia, USA, using a community science approach. Air temperature data were collected on a high-heat day in July 2021, employing a network of 213 volunteers. Geolocated one-second temperature and humidity measurements were used to create and validate 10-m resolution temperature models for each locality. Results indicate substantial intra-urban temperature differentials even in the smallest localities, averaging 3.2 °C for …

This thesis interprets the intersection of history, ecology, and politics through two contemporary Anatolian films: Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s About Dry Grasses and Murat Fıratoğlu’s One of These Days When Hemme Dies. We focus on the films’ portrayal of social relations and relationships to other living beings through interpreting the temporal layers and historical tensions present in the plots of the films. We introduce the paper by pondering over the question of whether these films are political. In this article, we discuss the teaching of Indigenous land sovereignty, history, and culture, commonly referred to as Act 31, in the School District of Bayfield in Bayfield, Wisconsin. Since the legislative mandate in 1991, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has strongly recommended that Wisconsin students receive instruction related to Act 31 twice in elementary school and once in high school. However, because Act 31 is not strictly enforced, there is uneven implementation throughout the state. At the School District of Bayfield, teaching Act 31 is mainstreamed in the curriculum. The proposed model has the ability to handle imprecision, vagueness and uncertainty in data which often exist in health statistics. The Influence Of Environmental Knowledge On Pro-Environmental Lifestyles Of Ui Vocational Students Domiciled In The Jabodetabek Area, Sartika Ekadyasa, Arius Krypton

The environmental crisis demands the younger generation, especially students, to play an active role in implementing an environmentally friendly lifestyle. This study aims to determine the influence of environmental knowledge on the pro-environmental lifestyle of students in the Jabodetabek area. Using a quantitative survey method on 100 students, the data was analyzed through simple linear regression. The results showed that environmental knowledge significantly influenced pro-environmental lifestyle (p < 0.05), while family support and access to environmentally friendly facilities also played important roles. These findings support the importance of environmental education at the college level to shape sustainable behavior.

The Pottery Neolithic site at Tel Yosef is located on the southern fringe of the Ḥarod Valley, on heavy clay vertisol soils, formed in the marshy environment of the valley. Several springs, situated within easy walking distance from the site, served convenient water resources for the prehistoric residents. A deep geological section at the eastern edge of the site allowed for a reconstruction of the landscape and environmental history of the site’s vicinity.
