Kosovo’S Strategic Missteps With International Law, Parker W. Remick, Robert Muharremi
Kosovo’S Strategic Missteps With International Law, Parker W. Remick, Robert Muharremi
Journal of Peace, Conflict, and Security Studies
This paper interrogates the principle of selective engagement with international law in the foreign policy of Kosovo, arguing that international law functions less as a neutral arbiter between states and more as a pliable instrument wielded in the pursuit of national objectives. Through a meticulous analysis of Kosovo’s post-2008 trajectory, the study unveils a pattern of selective engagement with international legal mechanisms highlighting both moments of strategic acumen and critical miscalculations. Despite possessing the legal attributes of statehood, Kosovo’s struggle for international legitimacy is hampered by a failure to fully exploit legal avenues, from multilateral treaty accession to litigation and …
Grief As A Constitutive Shadow Of Queer Joy: Reclaiming Negativity And The Ethics Of Staying For Education Research, Akira Sawata
Grief As A Constitutive Shadow Of Queer Joy: Reclaiming Negativity And The Ethics Of Staying For Education Research, Akira Sawata
Journal of Queer and Trans Studies in Education
In education scholarship, authors have increasingly called to center queer joy to disrupt the conventional deficit model that normally accompanies queer communities. However, in this paper, I argue that an exclusive emphasis on joy may risk instituting and normalizing a happiness duty that marginalizes negative affects and subjects. I propose queer grief not as an opposite, but as a constitutive shadow of joy. Drawing on theories of queer, trans, and crip negativity and the studies on loss, grief, and mourning, I critique the imperative to mobilize affect solely for future utility and teleological meaning. I contend that such mobilization-driven …
Emotional Intelligence And Engagement In English Language Classrooms: An Ability-Based Study, Saeed Abdullah Alzahrani
Emotional Intelligence And Engagement In English Language Classrooms: An Ability-Based Study, Saeed Abdullah Alzahrani
Scientific Journal of King Faisal University: Humanities and Management Sciences
The internationalization of higher education has intensified linguistic and cultural diversity in English-language classrooms across the Gulf region, particularly within Foundation Year Programs. In such contexts, teachers' emotional intelligence appears to be an important factor associated with student engagement, teacher empathy, and classroom stress resilience, yet empirical evidence from multicultural English-language programs in the Gulf remains limited. This study examined the relationship between teachers' emotional intelligence and three dimensions of classroom functioning: student engagement, teacher empathy, and stress resilience. The sample comprised 83 English language teachers from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates who completed the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional …

Results revealed statistically significant differences at the 0.01 level between pretest and posttest means on the observation card …
Generalized Apostol-Bernoulli Functions And The Evaluation Of Character Sums, Brad Isaacson
Generalized Apostol-Bernoulli Functions And The Evaluation Of Character Sums, Brad Isaacson
Publications and Research
We introduce two types of generalized Apostol–Bernoulli functions attached to Dirichlet characters and express them by generalized Apostol–Bernoulli numbers. As a corollary, we obtain formulas expressing two families of character sums by generalized Apostol–Bernoulli numbers. These sums are twisted generalizations of sums introduced and studied by Arakawa, Berndt, Ibukiyama, Kaneko, Kim, Ramanujan, and Zaharescu in the context of modular forms and theta function identities.
Radical Right Ideologues In The Age Of Trump: Heralds Of Nihilism, By Ronald Beiner. Routledge, 2026. 160 Pages. $57.99. Isbn 978-1041126812, Joan Braune
Journal of Hate Studies
Philosopher Joan Braune reviews Ronald Beiner’s Radical Right Ideologues in the Age of Trump: Heralds of Nihilism, which examines how fascist ideologues such as Steve Bannon, Aleksandr Dugin, Jason Jorjani, and Costin Alamariu (known online as “Bronze Age Pervert”), invoke philosophers, including Plato, Nietzsche, and Heidegger, in their arguments. It also considers why traditional philosophy departments have hesitated to acknowledge the use of philosophers in right-wing movements and how Beiner manages the risk of validating fascism as intellectual by studying the topic.
Children No More: Were And Are Gone. Produced By Sheila Nevins, Yael Melamede And Hilla Medalia; Directed By Hilla Medalia. English. 2026; Color; 36 Minutes. Full Story Films, Medalia Productions, And Salty Features, Muzna Rahman
Journal of Hate Studies
Postcolonial studies scholar Muzna Rahman reviews Children No More: Were and Are Gone, Hilla Medalia’s Academy Award-nominated short documentary. The film documents pro-peace Israeli activists who gather regularly in Tel Avivi to hold a silent vigil for Palestinian children killed by Israel forces. Against the backdrop of everyday urban life, the protestors simply hold photos of the children, commemorating their lives rather than their brutal deaths. The images of Palestinian children held by Israeli activities highlights the similarities between the groups, while the rage of passersby reveals the danger that Israelis who advocate for peace face in their work.

Journal of Hate Studies
Reviewed by Mary Pat Treuthart, Carla the Rescuer is a feature-length documentary about the life and work of Carla Peperzak, a Dutch girl whose father managed to get her Jewish identity marker removed from her identification papers after Germany invaded the Netherlands in 1940. Peperzak used her relative freedom to join the Dutch Resistance, forging documents and assisting Jews in finding hiding places. Though Carla the Rescuer focuses on Peperzak’s youthful bravery, her family only learned of it when her granddaughter asked her to speak about her wartime experiences to the child’s middle school class. Peperzak thus became a later-in-life …

Bahasa dan Seni: Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, Seni, dan Pengajarannya
Translating literary works addressing sensitive issues such as domestic violence (DV) and psychological trauma requires careful strategies to preserve meaning, emotional nuances, and pragmatic effects in the target language. This study examines translation techniques, levels of meaning equivalence, and relevance in dialogues concerning domestic violence and personal trauma in Colleen Hoover's It Ends with Us and its Indonesian translation, Akhir Antara Kita. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, 451 dialogue segments were analyzed using the frameworks of Molina and Hurtado Albir (2002), Baker (1992), and Gutt (2010). The findings identified 17 translation techniques, predominantly established equivalent (26.60%), modulation (20.45%), and …

Makara Journal of Science
In July 2023, five individuals of Parupeneus jansenii were collected from the Parangipettai landing center, south-eastern India (Bay of Bengal). The standard length ranged from 140 to 150 mm, and two females and three males were recorded. This study confirms the first distributional record and the westernmost valid occurrence of this species in Indian coastal waters. P. jansenii significantly differs from P. heptacanthus in having fewer pectoral fin rays, more gill rakers on the upper limb, and 27 lateral line scales. Compared with P. angulatus, P. jansenii has a shallower body, a shallower caudal peduncle, a shorter snout, a …
Organic Cherry Pest Management, Marion Murray, Ann Mull
Organic Cherry Pest Management, Marion Murray, Ann Mull
All Current Publications
Tart cherry (Prunus cerasus) and sweet cherry (P. avium) are important commercial crops and popular backyard trees. Tart cherries are commonly processed into dried or canned products, while sweet cherries are generally eaten fresh. Organic cherry production in the Intermountain West can be challenging because of pests such as western cherry fruit fly and arid growing conditions. However, with careful planning and appropriate management practices, it is possible to produce a good crop using organic pest management strategies. This fact sheet outlines general, pest, and disease management options.
Quality Improvement Project: Early Screening For Kidney Disease In Primary Care Clinics, Binsy Easow
Quality Improvement Project: Early Screening For Kidney Disease In Primary Care Clinics, Binsy Easow
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common complication of diabetes. Evidence-based guidelines recommend urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) screening for early identification of albuminuria in patients with diabetes; however, screening was inconsistently completed in an outpatient primary care clinic. This quality improvement project evaluated the impact of a standardized, provider-focused intervention on UACR screening completion and therapy intensification in patients with microalbuminuria. The Iowa Model served as the evidence-based practice framework, Lewin’s Change Theory provided the theoretical framework for practice change, and the Plan-Do-Study-Act cycle guided implementation and evaluation. A quasi-experimental pre- and post-intervention design was used. The intervention was delivered …
The Impact Of Implementing A Discharge Tool On Nurses’ Confidence And Press Ganey Patient Survey Scores In Discharge Planning, Cristan Ledbetter
The Impact Of Implementing A Discharge Tool On Nurses’ Confidence And Press Ganey Patient Survey Scores In Discharge Planning, Cristan Ledbetter
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
A needs assessment at a rural hospital revealed an opportunity for improvement in discharge planning. The purpose and aim of this project was to improve nurses’ confidence in the discharge process and improve Press Ganey survey scores in communication about medicine domain and discharge information domain. Inadequate discharge planning leads to poor patient outcomes, concern for patient safety, increased healthcare costs, and inferior patient satisfaction. The quality improvement (QI) project utilized a one-group pretest/posttest QI design. An evidence-based, standardized discharge tool was implemented. The Susan Grundy confidence scale (C-Scale) was used to evaluate nurses’ confidence in the discharge process pre- …
Enhancing Healthcare Provider Confidence And Accuracy In Performing And Documenting The Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale, Victoria Okoani-Nneji
Enhancing Healthcare Provider Confidence And Accuracy In Performing And Documenting The Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale, Victoria Okoani-Nneji
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Monitoring for medication-related movement disorders is essential for adults with schizophrenia receiving antipsychotic medications; however, inconsistent Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (AIMS) assessment and documentation can limit timely recognition of abnormal movements. This quality improvement project evaluated a six-week structured AIMS education program designed to improve provider confidence and documentation accuracy in an outpatient behavioral health setting in Central Ohio. Guided by Benner’s Novice-to-Expert Model and Kotter’s Eight-Step Change Model, the project used a one-group pretest-posttest design with 15 licensed behavioral health providers. Weekly sessions included instruction, demonstration, guided practice, case-based learning, scoring, interpretation, and electronic health record (EHR) documentation. Descriptive …
Quality Improvement Project: Determining Impact Of Mental Health Screening Provider Training, Sherri Bennett
Quality Improvement Project: Determining Impact Of Mental Health Screening Provider Training, Sherri Bennett
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Obesity is frequently associated with mental health concerns, yet these conditions may remain under identified when mental health screening is not consistently incorporated into medical weight-loss care. At the project site, fewer than 2% of patients who are overweight or obese were identified as needing mental health services, demonstrating a practice gap in screening and referral. The purpose of this quality improvement project was to evaluate whether targeted mental health screening education improved provider confidence. The aim was to increase confidence in conducting mental health screening among nurse practitioners in a medical weight-loss program. The Stetler Model provided the theoretical …
Integration Of The Kidney Failure Risk Equation To Guide Nephrology Referral In Adults With Chronic Hypertension, Shawn A. Siddiqi
Integration Of The Kidney Failure Risk Equation To Guide Nephrology Referral In Adults With Chronic Hypertension, Shawn A. Siddiqi
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Chronic hypertension is an established risk factor for chronic kidney disease (CKD). Baseline chart review at a Texas family practice clinic showed inconsistent renal risk documentation, and providers did not use a standardized renal risk-stratification tool to guide nephrology referral. The aim of this quality improvement project was to implement a standardized Kidney Failure Risk Equation (KFRE) workflow to improve renal risk documentation, nephrology referral decision-making, and provider self-efficacy for adults with chronic hypertension over eight weeks. Lewin's Change Theory guided practice change, the Donabedian model guided quality evaluation, and the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle structured implementation. Three providers (one physician, …
