"Restoration Under The Davidic Shepherd-King": An Exposition Of Ezekiel 37:15–28, Angela Gloria Erum Feb 2025

"Restoration Under The Davidic Shepherd-King": An Exposition Of Ezekiel 37:15–28, Angela Gloria Erum

Liberty Theological Review

Considering what is happening to Israel in the Middle East these days, this exposition of Ezekiel 37:15–28 provides hope for the people of Israel as well as the Gentile believers in Christ. Ezekiel 37:15–28 exhibits Yahweh’s covenantal promise to gather His people (the people of Israel) from other nations, restore them to their land, and reunify them (both northern and southern kingdoms) as one nation under one king, the Davidic shepherd-king; thus, other nations would realize that Yahweh is God. By examining Ezekiel 37:15–28, this paper will attempt to demonstrate the exegesis and the theological implications of the passage through …

The Decalogue As A Transitional Model For Fear, Pamela Jensen Ikasalo Feb 2025

The Decalogue As A Transitional Model For Fear, Pamela Jensen Ikasalo

Liberty Theological Review

God’s original intention for relationships was disrupted by the fall of man as recorded in Genesis 3. From that point, fear of man played an intricate role in both interpersonal relationships and decision-making. The purpose of the Decalogue was to moderate relationships among the people and with their God. However, there is an additional purpose as well. The Decalogue serves as a transitional model from fear of man to fear of the Lord. When God’s people live according to the precedents found in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 their lifestyle no longer follows the pattern set by fallen humanity. Both …

The Role Of Social Media In Climate Change Information, Patrick Peralta

Undergraduate Research and Engagement Symposium

This presentation explores the role of social media in spreading misinformation and disinformation about climate change and the consequences that can result from it at the individual and societal levels. it explains how cognitive, social, and algorithmic biases can create an environment where false information and narratives can spread across social media platforms fast. while a lot of the misinformation can be attributed to people misinterpreting the information and therefore misinforming their social circles, a lot more is attributed to parties who benefit from climate change such as fossil fuel companies funding false narratives to deter any significant change on …

The Rhetoric Of Answers In Genesis: An Analysis Of Science Denial In Online Media, Thomas Phillips

Undergraduate Research and Engagement Symposium

This research project performs a rhetorical analysis of a series of articles published by Answers in Genesis in order to develop a greater understanding for how the science denial of Young Earth Creationism operates in online media. The research ultimately seeks to demonstrate the manner in which Answers in Genesis employs a patterned usage of a variety of recognizable rhetorical devices in its argumentation as a means of attempting to frame its religious claims as properly scientific and to continue to propagate science denial in its online content.

This research underscores the value of culturally sensitive advising in supporting diverse, immigrant-rich communities.

A Review Examining The Factors Contributory To The Socialization Of A Culture Of Environmental Stewardship, Colby Nixon Feb 2025

A Review Examining The Factors Contributory To The Socialization Of A Culture Of Environmental Stewardship, Colby Nixon

Undergraduate Research and Engagement Symposium

Environmental stewardship is an ambiguous but significant term meaning that responsibility for the environment — and its quality — is shared between all individuals who interact with it. As a culture-wide phenomena, it is correlated with a mutualistic relationship with nature and the Earth. My study responds to a question as to which and how variables contribute to a societal mindset of environmental stewardship. This review synthesizes numerous studies across diverse cultures and contexts to examine trends therein. In doing so, I discovered that religion, policy, human development, linguistics, and economic roles play a part in socializing environmental stewardship into …

Unlocking The Potential Of Refugee Students, Aisling Heaphy

Undergraduate Research and Engagement Symposium

Forging Opportunities for Refugees in America (FORA) is a Chicago-based non-profit that provides tutoring services to refugee students including Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE). As a Restorative Justice Educational Intern at FORA, I worked individually with students to provide High Impact Tutoring that focused on developing literacy skills. Over the course of my internship, I researched the most effective methods for comprehensively accommodating the educational and emotional needs of SLIFE who are experiencing a formal classroom setting for the first time. My research showed that FORA fills important gaps when it comes to effectively educating SLIFE.

Chinese/English Journal of Educational Measurement and Evaluation |

East Meets West: Secondary Education Reform In Taiwan: Comparing The Perceptions Of Teachers And Students Between 2011 And 2021, Yee Han Peter Joong, Rose E. Gibbs Ph.D.

Chinese/English Journal of Educational Measurement and Evaluation | 教育测量与评估双语期刊

This mixed methods study compares how secondary school teachers implemented the 12-year Basic Education Reform in Taiwan in 2011 and 2021. Major sources of were surveys from sample teachers and students in sixteen sample schools. The survey asked how often a teaching or evaluation strategy was used. The conclusions of both studies indicate that teacher-directed lessons (teacher talk and questioning) dominated. The use of student-centred learning (SCL) methods (activities and group work) was limited. However, almost 30% of the sample students in both studies stated that the behaviour of students in the classroom was affecting their work. A major obstacle …

Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association encourages university programs to cultivate skills related to client health literacy among students. One means of doing so is to train students to write in a way that places lower health literacy demands on clients and their families. This study tested the effectiveness of a health literacy module for improving students’ skills in writing client letters to accompany diagnostic reports. Students in two sections of an advanced graduate seminar in Speech Pathology course were assigned to write cover letters to be sent to a hypothetical client at the UCF Communication Disorders Clinic. Reading grade level calculators …

Using Mind Maps To Make Student Knowledge Visible In An Aac Course, Allison Sauerwein, Natalie Quinlan, Coral Viernow

Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders

Concept maps make students’ knowledge visible. Creating a mind map gives students an opportunity to organize their knowledge and allows instructors to visualize and assess it. When students create mind maps at multiple time points, instructors can compare the maps and use the themes, patterns, and gaps that emerge to reflect on their teaching and take action. The purpose of this study was to use concept maps in an AAC course to uncover students’ knowledge. A total of 61 graduate students created a mind map with AAC as the central concept at the beginning and end of the term in …

Optimized Hiv/Aids Resource Allocation In Ohio: A Linear Programming Approach, Godfred Ahenkroa Kesse

Data Science and Data Mining

This study employs a linear and integer programming approach to optimize HIV resource allocation in Ohio, aiming to minimize new infections and enhance the impact of limited resources. With the advances in HIV prevention and treatment, Ohio faces challenges in addressing disparities in access to healthcare, particularly among high-risk populations. The proposed model integrates data on infection rates, transmission patterns, demographic factors, and cost-effectiveness to provide a decision-support framework for policymakers. Using epidemiological data and equity constraints, the model prioritizes high-risk regions and populations while ensuring fair resource distribution. Results indicate that increased funding allocations significantly enhance the potential to …

Csd Students Of Color Navigating The Graduate School Admissions Process: A Gauntlet, Marcella Cardoza Mccollum Feb 2025

Csd Students Of Color Navigating The Graduate School Admissions Process: A Gauntlet, Marcella Cardoza Mccollum

Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders

Regardless of entry point, nearly all potential speech-language pathologists (SLPs) in the United States (US) share the experience of navigating the arduous application process for graduate school. For students of color, especially first-generation students, this application process can serve to cause them to question whether they belong in the field. This may be one of the key factors that manifests itself in the lack of diversity within the profession. This study followed nine undergraduate Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) students across nine months from application cycle through post-baccalaureate life as they shared their experiences about deciding whether to apply for …
