The Effect Of A Multiple Intelligences Theory-Based Program On Tenth-Grade Students' Reading Comprehension Skills In Jordan, Musa Mayyas

Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series

This study investigated the effect of a multiple intelligences theory-based program on tenth-grade students' reading comprehension skills in Jordan. The researcher used a quasi-experimental design in which the participants were divided into four groups. The participants, chosen through purposeful sampling, consisted of 110 male and female tenth-grade students from two different schools in the Ramtha Directorate of Education. The first control group consisted of 28 female students, while the first experimental group included 27 female students from the same school. The second control group comprised 24 male students, whereas the second experimental group consisted of 31 male students from the …

The Impact Of A Drama-Based Instructional Program On The Speaking Performance Of Jordanian Efl Learners, Nesreen Ja'afreh, Dina Al-Jamal Aug 2025

The Impact Of A Drama-Based Instructional Program On The Speaking Performance Of Jordanian Efl Learners, Nesreen Ja'afreh, Dina Al-Jamal

Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series

This study examines the effect of a drama-based role-play instructional program on the speaking performance of EFL Jordanian ninth-grade students. It aims to determine whether there are any statistically significant differences in students' speaking performance attributed to the drama-based instructional program (specifically, the role-play technique) in the post-test mean scores. A total of 40 participants were randomly assigned to two groups: the control group and the experimental group at That Rass Secondary School for Girls in the Southern Almazar Directorate of Education, Jordan, during the second semester of the academic year 2017-2018. For data collection, a pre/post speaking test and …

Nurses' Practice Environments, Burnout, And Mental Health In Northwestern Ontario, Ainsley Miller, Vicki L. Kristman, Mannila Sandhu

Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)

Background/objective: An estimated one-tenth of nurses worldwide are said to be suffering from severe burnout1. The high prevalence of burnout is concerning as a Canadian survey determined that nurses with high levels of burnout were 17 times more likely to screen positive for posttraumatic stress disorder, 43 times more likely to screen positive for major depressive disorder, 25 times more likely to screen positive for generalized anxiety disorder, and 23 times more likely to screen positive for panic disorder than participants who reported no burnout2. A common precipitating factor associated with nurses’ burnout and mental health …

Fordism is both a global and a local phenomenon. Here I look to make some connections between American and Australian experience, beginning with the social model indicated by Gramsci in interwar Italy; travelling on to visit the Australian model and its institutional field, especially the basic wage, before casting back to Detroit and again to the antipodes to close.

Keywords: Fordism, Americanism, Australia, Gramsci, social model

The Reality Of Mobile Learning Use In Public Secondary Schools In The Ramallah And Al-Bireh Governorate From The Viewpoint Of Its Teachers, Hussain Hamayel Aug 2025

The Reality Of Mobile Learning Use In Public Secondary Schools In The Ramallah And Al-Bireh Governorate From The Viewpoint Of Its Teachers, Hussain Hamayel

Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series

The study aimed to identify the status quo of mobile learning use in public secondary schools in Ramallah and Al-Bireh from the perspective of its teachers. The researcher employed an analytical descriptive method and designed a four-part questionnaire for this purpose. The arithmetic averages for the four fields were as follows: the students' field had the highest mean (3.98), while the third field, concerning the requirements for using mobile learning, had the lowest mean (3.55). The overall score for the fields was high, with an arithmetic mean of (3.73). The study was conducted on a sample consisting of 100 teachers, …

Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series

This study investigates the impact of using graphic organizers on reading comprehension and the attitudes of Jordanian EFL tenth grade students. The sample consisted of 84 students from Zainab Bent Al-Rasoul Basic School for Girls, divided into a control group (n=41) and an experimental group (n=43). Interdisciplinary Co-Teaching And Community-Engaged Learning: Integrating Community Case Studies To Teach Ethics, Justice, And Grassroots Leadership, Ziwei Qi, Lori E. Kniffin, Sammuel Byer (Rob)

Leadership Faculty Publications

This paper serves as a teaching report examining an interdisciplinary, co-taught course at a rural, regional state university designed to promote ethics, justice, and grassroots leadership through community-engaged learning (CEL). Faculty from criminal justice, philosophy, and leadership studies co-developed and taught the course using Socratic dialogue and reflective journaling to help students analyze community challenges from multiple disciplinary angles. Students also engaged in training on positionality, power dynamics, and cultural humility, incorporating their reflections into final reports to deepen ethical engagement. Regular faculty collaboration aligned teaching strategies across disciplines, while a case study presentation and analysis allowed community partners to …
