Population Limitation Of Jackrabbits: An Examination Of The Food Hypothesis, William R. Clark
Population Limitation Of Jackrabbits: An Examination Of The Food Hypothesis, William R. Clark
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The study was conducted to examine the importance of forage resources in limiting peak population density of black-tailed jackrabbits (Lepus californicus). The research design combined field studies of jackrabbit diet and vegetation impact with computer simulation of herbivore nutrition and population dynamics. The relationships between available forage, dietary intake, energy and protein balance and population changes were compared for high and low population density. Hypotheses tested were : (1) Dietary composition is unaffected by availability above 10 kg/ha; (2) Jackrabbits do not require more forage than is available at high population densities; (3) Dietary composition is not significantly …
Coyote-Prey Relationships In Curlew Valley During A Period Of Low Jackrabbit Density, Stephen W. Hoffman
Coyote-Prey Relationships In Curlew Valley During A Period Of Low Jackrabbit Density, Stephen W. Hoffman
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Coyote-prey relationships were examined in Curlew Valley, northern Utah and southern Idaho, during a period of low jackrabbit density (from September 1973 to May 1975). The Utah and Idaho portions of Curlew Valley were treated separately. Field work provided estimates of relative and absolute rodent densities as well as relative coyote density each spring and fall. Laboratory analysis of over 2,300 scats and 249 stomachs provided detailed information on coyote diets. Jackrabbit population data for northern Utah were obtained from L. Charles Stoddart.

Reports
This publication reports the results of a municipal and industrial water use inventory. Data reported covers the period 1960 through 1976. Time series information is aggregated from municipal and industrial system level to country and state totals. Total municipal and industrial withdrawals are divided between surface and groundwater sources. Yearly per capital withdrawal rates are estimated for 50 Utah municipalities and for each of Utah’s 29 counties. Per capita withdrawal rates range from a high of over 400 gallons per capita per day (gcd) in the communities of Delta, Fillmore, Hyrum, Logan, and Morgan to a low of 100 gcd …
An Investigation Of Engineering Decision-Making In A California Clean Water Grant Project, Lauren Elliot Silver
An Investigation Of Engineering Decision-Making In A California Clean Water Grant Project, Lauren Elliot Silver
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The planning and design of an engineering project can be viewed as a series of decisions. It follows , therefore , that a project is well engineered when good decisions are made in an efficient manner. This investigation seeks to examine engineering decision making for the general purpose of providing insights which may improve the engineering decision-making process. The study centers around a project constructed under the Clean Water Grant Program in California. There are two reasons for this 1) the Clean Water Grant Program is presently (1979) the largest public works program in the United States and is therefore, …
The Introduction Of Management By Objectives Into The Buchanan, Michigan, Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Oliver Lawrence Johnston Sr.
The Introduction Of Management By Objectives Into The Buchanan, Michigan, Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Oliver Lawrence Johnston Sr.
Doctor of Ministry Projects
The most urgent concern of the twentieth-century church is building an effective working team composed of pastor and laymen (or lay people) that will be responsive to the commission of carrying the gospel to the world. Methods must be discovered so that intentional pastors can help bring intentional congregations into being. In the context of management by objectives, self-assessment and goal setting may be the means by which intentional congregations are created. If this is true, the pastor needs to know how to apply the concept of management by objectives to his ministry.
To develop guidelines for the introduction of …

The Extent Of Primary Prevention Research In The Community Psychology Literature: A Content Analysis, Catherine Comeau
The Extent Of Primary Prevention Research In The Community Psychology Literature: A Content Analysis, Catherine Comeau
Theses and Dissertations (Comprehensive)
Previous research and opinion suggested that community psychology had not realized its 1960’s commitment to primary prevention. This thesis employs theoretically-oriented content analysis to investigate the extent of the specialization’s commitment to this issue as reflected in research published in three journals: American Journal of Community Psychology (1973-1978), Journal of Community Psychology (1976), Community Mental Health Journal (1966, 1976). The data suggests that approximately 50% of this periodical literature focuses on some aspect of primary prevention. The implications of these findings are discussed.

“Sociology At Nebraska: 1884-1929,” Together With “A History Of Sociology At The University Of Nebraska,” By J.O. Hertzler, Joyce O. Hertzler, Mary Jo Deegan
Department of Sociology: Faculty Publications
At the turn of the century the University of Nebraska was one of the four leading centers of sociology in the United States. Despite this auspicious start, Nebraska has remained relatively obscure in the accounts of the history of Sociology. This is partially a result of its size: until 1959 the faculty consisted of only five members and was oriented to a small but quality graduate program. The document which follows is an original manuscript recording the early history of the department. It was written by Joyce O. Hertzler in the Winter of 1929. This rough draft, now yellowing and …
