The phenomenon of escapism, extensively analyed in the key mechanism of escape into the world of illusion and imagination in numerous sociological and psychological studies, has not yet been researched from a theological perspective or described in the context of pilgrimage. Nevertheless, the existing studies encourage this type of reflection, indicating that escapism seems to be one of the ways to solve social problems by turning towards religiousness. Our NICU started a journey of interdisciplinary collaboration, employee education standardization, patient care standardization, and peer coaching for the patient families. Throughout our journey we have been able to decrease our length of stay from 37.6 days in 2014 to about 16 days in 2018.

As the number of refugee students increase each year, many language teachers find themselves uninformed and ill-equipped to effectively engage refugee students in the classroom. Thus, through a survey and synthesis of the current body of research, the following literature review seeks to present the specific needs of refugee students and suggest practical ways in which language teachers can effectively meet those needs and engage refugees in the language classroom. This presentation is intended to go beyond mandatory ethics to raise participants’ self-awareness to practice clinical mental health counseling. It fulfills 1 hour of ethics CEU requirements toward licensure renewal in a fun and interactive way. Participants will engage in active discussions and activities regarding personal beliefs and values, boundary dilemmas, moral principles, and ethical decision-making processes to promote client welfare. HIPAA, FERPA, and other key legislation will be discussed with emphasis on confidentiality.

This presentation addresses the power of art in recalling the traumatic event and accessing trauma-related emotions in a non-threatening way. Learn how art assists trauma survivors in identifying, expressing, and containing emotions by engaging in a process that creates a safe distance from painful feelings while providing a concrete vehicle to explore potentially volatile emotions. DeBono’s Six Thinking Hats problem-solving technique was used in several online internship courses in order to facilitate case presentations by counselor trainees. The process and results of this method will be presented along with student testimony of their use of Six Hats during group supervision. Counselor educators will be introduced to this technique and will practice its implementation in order to support counselor interns as they think through each facet of case conceptualization.

Sex trafficking recruitment takes place through manipulation, exploitation, and coercion. Counselors must know who is vulnerable to recruitment, and how targets are selected.
