Caldwell Adaptive Plasma Conditioning & Sensing System (Capcs V4.0), Michael Victor Caldwell Mr. May 2026

Caldwell Adaptive Plasma Conditioning & Sensing System (Capcs V4.0), Michael Victor Caldwell Mr.

Defensive Publications Series

The Caldwell Adaptive Plasma Conditioning & Sensing System (CAPCS v4.0) is a next‑generation, fully autonomous microfluidic biosensing platform designed for real‑world plasma analysis under variable biological, thermal, and mechanical conditions. CAPCS integrates differential quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensing, surface acoustic wave (SAW) focusing, adaptive closed‑loop control, predictive fouling detection, dynamic thermal stabilization, and hybrid inertial–acoustic cell removal into a single disposable cartridge.

Unlike traditional biosensor concepts that rely on static assumptions, CAPCS v4.0 continuously adapts to fouling, drift, clogging, viscosity changes, hematocrit variability, and thermal fluctuations. Every major failure mode is paired with a dedicated countermeasure. The system uses dual‑QCM …

An Agentic Ai System For Meeting-Centric, Time-Bounded Security Policy Enforcement, Niranjan M M May 2026

An Agentic Ai System For Meeting-Centric, Time-Bounded Security Policy Enforcement, Niranjan M M

Defensive Publications Series

Enterprises increasingly rely on meetings as the primary unit of collaboration for sensitive decision-making, training, customer engagement, and incident response. However, current firewall and network security systems remain largely static and topology-driven, forcing administrators to manually create, deploy, and later remove temporary security policies for short-lived events. This approach is operationally complex, error-prone, and does not scale in modern hybrid and highly collaborative environments.

The proposal introduces a meeting-centric, agent-driven firewall policy framework that automatically derives security intent from meeting context and participant composition. By treating the meeting identifier as the authoritative security signal, the system dynamically forms a meeting-specific …

Supernova-Ejected Planetary Core Fragments As A Mechanism For Anomalous Interstellar Objects: Application To 3i/Atlas, Daniel Austin Harbison May 2026

Supernova-Ejected Planetary Core Fragments As A Mechanism For Anomalous Interstellar Objects: Application To 3i/Atlas, Daniel Austin Harbison

Defensive Publications Series

This paper proposes that the third confirmed interstellar object, 3I/ATLAS, is a dense fragment of a planetary core, ejected from its parent stellar system by a supernova event, rather than a primordial cometary nucleus. The hypothesis is constructed from first-principles physical reasoning and accounts for five anomalies observed in 3I/ATLAS that strain conventional cometary models: high inferred bulk density, nickel-rich coma chemistry, non-gravitational acceleration patterns, advanced age of the material, and the kinematic signature consistent with thick-disk galactic origin. The model further proposes that the same class of supernova event, when interacting with surrounding hydrogen clouds at the 1420 MHz …

The Whisper Web: A Mail Intelligence Framework For Semantic Coordination In Communication Systems, Johny Manuel-Devadoss, Joanna Johnson, Jayden Jack Johnson, Deepthi Prasad May 2026

The Whisper Web: A Mail Intelligence Framework For Semantic Coordination In Communication Systems, Johny Manuel-Devadoss, Joanna Johnson, Jayden Jack Johnson, Deepthi Prasad

Defensive Publications Series

This paper introduces The Whisper Web, a communication intelligence framework designed for post-static digital correspondence ecosystems operating under conditions of planetary-scale coordination complexity. Unlike conventional email systems that treat messages as isolated immutable payloads exchanged between endpoints, the Whisper Web reconceptualizes communication as a continuously evolving semantic biosphere composed of dynamic probabilistic entities known as Whisper Units. Each Whisper Unit functions as a compressed socio-semantic organism capable of propagating influence through adaptive trust topologies, negotiation-energy fields, obligation gradients, institutional resonance maps, and multi-agent predictive coordination networks.

The proposed framework abandons the traditional paradigms of inboxes, message queues, folders, labels, and …

Faculty And Student Perspectives On Course Collaborations Within Communication Sciences And Disorders, Shanna R. Callewaert, Sarah M. Ginsberg May 2026

Faculty And Student Perspectives On Course Collaborations Within Communication Sciences And Disorders, Shanna R. Callewaert, Sarah M. Ginsberg

Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders

The collaborative course (re)design (CCRD) process provides faculty and students with an opportunity to collaborate in partnership to redesign a course that the faculty teaches and that the student has previously taken. This process amplifies student voices and allows faculty to increase their understanding of students’ learning and experiences. However, barriers of CCRD, such as faculty members’ desires to retain decision-making control, students’ hesitations to share feedback, and logistical concerns, prevent many faculty and students from taking part in the process. This qualitative study sought to gain insight into the perspectives held by students and faculty in the communication sciences …

Improving Speech-Language Pathology Graduate Student Confidence In Evidence-Based Practice, Courtney Olson, Carla Tierney-Hendricks

Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders

Evidence-based practice (EBP) is widely acknowledged to be beneficial and necessary for the treatment of patients. However, a gap between evidence-based practice research and use is present. One way to improve EBP implementation is by focusing on incorporating explicit EBP instruction at the graduate student level. This study describes the development of a series of learning modules based on key EBP principles in order to increase graduate student confidence in EBP. Twenty-four first-semester graduate students were followed over the course of 8-weeks, with one group of twelve students receiving structured supplemental learning and the other group receiving only their traditional …

3d Puzzle Generation Beyond Voxelized Parts, Iris Xia May 2026

3d Puzzle Generation Beyond Voxelized Parts, Iris Xia

Computer Science Theses

Burr puzzles are interlocking assemblies whose pieces must be inserted and removed through tightly constrained motions. Designing them is difficult because geometric fit, interlocking behavior, and disassembly order are tightly coupled, while existing computational methods remain largely limited to voxelized or template-based constructions.

This work presents a framework for 3D puzzle generation beyond voxelized parts. The method replaces local mobility heuristics with a certified search over geometry edits. Starting from a topological contact specification, it constructs signed distance fields for individual parts, applies complementary local edits, and validates each candidate using exact geometric checks and a kernel disassembly graph. The …

Real-Time Instruction Internalization For Large Language Models, Brenden Smith May 2026

Real-Time Instruction Internalization For Large Language Models, Brenden Smith

Theses and Dissertations

For the end user, Large Language Models (LLMs) are programs that process natural language inputs into natural language outputs. In popular usage, this tends to take the form of conversation: a user asks a question, provides information, or gives instructions, and the LLM (hopefully) replies in a manner we would expect of an informed and compliant person. While convenient and intuitive for users, this natural conversational format encourages the misconception that LLMs are learning from conversations, when they do not. This work presents the benefits and practicality of a language model paradigm that meets this user expectation -- that is, …

Spectral Classification Of Diverse Lithologies Using Multi- And Hyperspectral Satellite Data: A Comparative Study, Önder Gürsoy, Emre Özelkan, Rutkay Atun, Ayşe Betül Çalişkan, Ahmet Efe

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

Accurate lithological mapping requires selecting the appropriate remote sensing data and classification methods. This study evaluates the performance of four satellite datasets—Landsat 8 OLI, Sentinel-2A, ASTER, and Hyperion EO-1—using three spectral classification techniques: Matched Filtering (MF), Spectral Angle Mapper (SAM), and Spectral Information Divergence (SID). The study area is located between the Zara and Koyulhisar districts in eastern Türkiye and comprises diverse lithological units. A total of 49 rock samples collected in the field were used for validation. The results indicate that MF consistently outperformed the other methods, achieving the highest accuracy with Landsat 8 (Kappa = 94.2%). ASTER data …

Patterns And Drivers Of Cladocera Community Structure In The Black Sea, Elena Bisinicu, Luminita Lazar May 2026

Patterns And Drivers Of Cladocera Community Structure In The Black Sea, Elena Bisinicu, Luminita Lazar

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Cladoceran community dynamics were examined in the Romanian sector of the Black Sea during the warm seasons of 2013– 2020, using Marine Reporting  Units (MRUs) to evaluate spatial heterogeneity across transitional, coastal, and  marine waters. Analyses of density, biomass, mean individual biomass (MIB), and  species composition revealed interannual fluctuations superimposed on strong  nearshore–offshore gradients, with higher values in transitional and coastal MRUs.  The assemblage was consistently dominated by Pleopis polyphemoides and Penilia  avirostris, which together accounted for most of the total abundance and biomass.  Multivariate analysis identified significant differences in taxonomic composition  across MRUs and years, while correlation analyses highlighted …

Endemism Patterns Of Leaf Beetles (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) In Türkiye, İsmai̇l Şen, Ali̇ Gök

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study, the distribution of endemic leaf beetles in Türkiye was analyzed  holistically at the provincial scale using species richness (ENR), corrected weighted  endemism (CWE), and range-restricted endemism (RRE) indices. A total of 95  endemic taxa were found in Türkiye and these taxa exhibited significant spatial  heterogeneity in terms of richness and extent of distribution. The Western and  Central Taurus Mountains and the Eastern Black Sea Region were found to be the  main centers of endemism, with high densities of narrowly distributed and  geographically restricted species. These patterns clearly demonstrate that key  biogeographic factors, such as steep elevation gradients, …

How Religion, Morality, And Worldview Impact Public Policy, Adam Opp

Journal of Statesmanship & Public Policy: Briefs and Commentaries

It is important to examine the intersection between religion, morality, and worldview when analyzing the creation of public policy. Faith and spiritual beliefs play a key role in how an individual behaves as a policymaker and how they view the role of government. Religion considers the critical role of authority, which the government must analyze if the people have given it the authority to take a course of action. Morality asserts that the purpose of government is to maintain a system of justice that protects individual rights. Worldview highlights the framework individuals take in approaching the role of government and …

Hyperspectral Image Classification Using Novel 1-D And 2-D Deep Neural Networks, Özlem Polat, Zümray Dokur, Tamer Ölmez May 2026

Hyperspectral Image Classification Using Novel 1-D And 2-D Deep Neural Networks, Özlem Polat, Zümray Dokur, Tamer Ölmez

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

Hyperspectral image (HSI) classification is of critical importance in many fields including agriculture, geology, environmental monitoring, and urban planning. In recent years, many researchers have utilized deep neural networks (DNNs), known for their high performance in the classification of HSIs. When 2-D/3-D convolutional neural networks are used in HSI classification, filters are applied using input patches typically larger than 11 × 11. This allows spectral and spatial features to be evaluated together. However, this combination creates several problems. Because HSIs have low spatial resolution, they often do not contain strong texture details. Furthermore, features with little relevance to classification make …

Does Climate Finance Empower Or Exclude Women? Evidence From Bangladesh, Sofia Castelo, Lia G. Antunes, Md. Ashrafuzzaman May 2026

Does Climate Finance Empower Or Exclude Women? Evidence From Bangladesh, Sofia Castelo, Lia G. Antunes, Md. Ashrafuzzaman

Journal of International Women's Studies

Despite the formal adoption of gender policies by significant climate funds and international agreements aimed at promoting equity, only 2.3% of global climate finance is explicitly allocated to gender equality, and women remain significantly underrepresented in climate-related decision-making processes. Although several climate funds, such as the Green Climate Fund and the Adaptation Fund, have successfully integrated gender components, implementation often remains symbolic rather than transformative. Drawing on a critical ecofeminist framework, this article examines how climate finance mechanisms, particularly in the Global South, can inadvertently reinforce existing gender inequities. Using Bangladesh as a case study, this analysis synthesizes existing literature …

Improving Explainability And Interpretability Of Neural Networks Via Hyperparameter-Extended Influence Functions, William Breslin May 2026

Improving Explainability And Interpretability Of Neural Networks Via Hyperparameter-Extended Influence Functions, William Breslin

Dissertations and Theses

Understanding how model predictions and training outcomes vary with changes in data, features, and modeling choices is central to explainable artificial intelligence. This dissertation introduces a unified framework for explainability by generalizing classical influence functions to encompass user-defined hyperparameters embedded in the training loss, model architecture, or data representation. By extending influence functions in this way, the framework broadens their applicability and integrates multiple explainability techniques into a single, coherent approach. It provides a common mathematical foundation linking data impact, feature importance, and model design analysis, and supports a broad class of additional explainability analyses beyond these settings. The demonstrated …

Crowding In Private Capital For Climate Adaptation In India, Shreya Bajaj May 2026

Crowding In Private Capital For Climate Adaptation In India, Shreya Bajaj

Master in Public Policy Theses

Reports show that India is highly vulnerable to climate change. Mitigation efforts alone cannot address these risks, and adaptation remains essential. Yet while much of the existing literature documents the adaptation finance gap, it offers less practical guidance on where private capital can realistically be used and what institutional arrangements are needed to make it work. This paper tries to address that gap in the Indian context.

This paper examines three adaptation finance use cases through which private capital could support climate adaptation and resilience in India: parametric disaster risk transfer, pooled municipal finance, and water fund. For each issue, …

A Just Reimagining Of The Loss & Damage Fund, Sarah Cheung May 2026

A Just Reimagining Of The Loss & Damage Fund, Sarah Cheung

Master in Public Policy Theses

The Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD), established at COP28 in 2023, represents a historic diplomatic breakthrough in multilateral climate finance, yet its design reflects the compromises necessary to secure political agreement rather than a just institutional architecture. This thesis evaluates the FRLD and two prominent reform proposals—the Bridgetown Initiative 3.0 and Esther Duflo's Grand Bargain—against a novel framework that provides a more precise way to evaluate the “justness” of different arrangements. This framework encompasses three dimensions: compensatory, distributive, and procedural justice. [JS1] A dimension of justice is achieved in a two-fold manner; first, through rhetorical commitments in …

The Offense-Defense Balance And The Modern System In Ukraine, Daniel Hogestyn May 2026

The Offense-Defense Balance And The Modern System In Ukraine, Daniel Hogestyn

Master in Public Policy Theses

This thesis evaluates whether the Russo Ukrainian war represents a revolution in military affairs (RMA) by testing Stephen Biddle’s "modern system" theory of battlefield outcomes against recent combat operations. Applying Biddle’s formal model to the 2023 Ukrainian offensive in Zaporizhia, the thesis finds that the offensive's failure conforms closely to Biddle’s causal logic, with force employment variables drawn from 20th century combat sufficient to account for the outcome. Biddle's model in military power argues that force employment has explained victory and defeat since World War I, rather than technology or numerical preponderance alone. Many commentators claim that proliferation of small …

Governance And Ethical Gaps In The J-1 Summer Work And Travel Program: A U.S.–China Case Study On Public Trust And Participant Protection, Yuhong Min May 2026

Governance And Ethical Gaps In The J-1 Summer Work And Travel Program: A U.S.–China Case Study On Public Trust And Participant Protection, Yuhong Min

Master in Public Administration Theses

This study examines how implementation gaps shape public trust in transnational exchange programs, using the J-1 Summer Work Travel (SWT) program as a case in a U.S.–China context. The SWT program, a U.S. government–regulated cultural exchange initiative, is designed to promote cultural exchange through a well-established regulatory framework. It operates through a multi-actor governance system involving government agencies, nonprofit sponsors, employers, and intermediary organizations across national boundaries.

Drawing on a mixed-methods approach that combines 43 survey responses and 9 semi-structured interviews, this study explores how program design is translated into practice and how governance dynamics affect participant experiences. The findings …

Increasing Near-Miss Reporting: An Evidence-Based Approach, Rosalud H. Sanchez-Lozada May 2026

Increasing Near-Miss Reporting: An Evidence-Based Approach, Rosalud H. Sanchez-Lozada

Doctoral Projects

Near-miss events, defined as errors intercepted before reaching the patient, offer valuable opportunities for learning and prevention, particularly in high-acuity intensive care units (ICUs). Despite the availability of electronic reporting systems and national emphasis on patient safety, near-miss reporting remains inconsistent in many critical care settings. This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) quality improvement project evaluated the impact of a structured educational intervention on near-miss reporting within a cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) at a large academic medical center. A single-group pre–post design was used to examine changes in reporting trends following a three-week intervention that included staff education, leadership …
