Student Perspectives On Packaging Waste And Sustainable Practices In Online Shopping, John Nathaniel Sicat Esmale, Nicolai Calvo Sabido

DLSU Senior High School Research Congress

This study investigates the perspectives of senior high school and college students at De La Salle University, Laguna, regarding packaging waste and sustainable practices in online shopping. Using a descriptive-correlational quantitative design, the research analyzes data from 136 valid survey responses to explore the relationship between students' sustainability awareness and their online purchasing behavior.

The findings reveal that while respondents frequently observe excessive packaging—primarily characterized by oversized boxes and multiple layers of plastic—they generally maintain a neutral or frustrated attitude toward it. Although students recognize the importance of sustainable packaging, this awareness exerts only a moderate influence on their actual …

Failure To Communicate: A Method To Improve Osha And Fsis Collaboration In Meat And Poultry Plants, Ty Haralson Jun 2026

Failure To Communicate: A Method To Improve Osha And Fsis Collaboration In Meat And Poultry Plants, Ty Haralson

Journal of Food Law & Policy

In its 2024 annual report, the GAO recognized the overlapping functions of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”) and the Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) in meat and poultry plants and how the two agencies have failed to effectively collaborate. Although both FSIS and OSHA have vested interests in ensuring healthy environments in meat and poultry plants, the administrative agencies have not developed a thorough approach for collaboration.

Created after the passage of the Williams-Steiger Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, OSHA’s primary responsibility is to “ensur[e] safe and healthful working conditions . . . ” in …

Journal of Food Law & Policy

On October 22, 1994, the 103rd United States (“U.S.”) Congress enacted legislation naming the United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) headquarters building in honor of U.S. Representative Jamie L. Whitten of Mississippi, a member of the Democratic Party. At the time, he was the longest-serving member of Congress, serving from a special election in November 1941 through his retirement on January 3, 1995. A few months later, Whitten died on September 9, 1995, leaving his name on the only departmental office building on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Etched in stone on the massive, imposing structure with a Roman …

Assessment Of Dihedral Angle Contribution To Roll-Stability Derivatives Using Datcom And Vlm Methods, Tarik Hassan Elsonni, Emad Qasem Hussein, Balsam H. Abed

Al-Farahidi Expert Systems Journal

This study investigates the lateral stability of a fixed-wing aircraft through the roll-moment stability derivative (C_lβ ), treated as the primary indicator of dihedral effect and overall roll stability. A coupled DATCOM-based analytical formulation and lifting-line/VLM modeling framework has been used to quantify the influence of the key geometric and aerodynamic parameters on the roll-stability derivative. Specifically, the influences of dihedral angle, angle of attack, and sideslip have been explored separately, followed by geometric factors such as aspect ratio, taper ratio, and sweep angle in a systematic way. It is observed that there is an increase in the dihedral angle …

Comparison Of Textile-Reinforced Mortar And Ferrocement In Torsional Strengthening Of Rc Beams Using Finite Element Analysis, Roula Taha, Ihssan Tarsha, Muneeb Al-Allaf

Al-Farahidi Expert Systems Journal

Strengthening reinforced concrete (RC) elements is vital to rehabilitate aging infrastructure and adopting modern standards. While conventional designs focus on axial, shear, and bending forces, torsional moments become highly effective in specific beams. This study employs finite element analysis using ABAQUS to investigate effective strengthening strategies for enhancing the torsional performance of RC beams. Two strengthening systems, ferrocement and Textile Reinforced Mortar (TRM), were examined using two-sided and three-sided wrapping configurations. The numerical investigation evaluated torsional capacity, twist response, and crack propagation, with results compared to an unstrengthened control beam. The findings indicate that both strengthening techniques significantly improved stiffness …

Solving Some Heat Problems In The Sense Of The Non-Conformable Fractional Derivative By Using Modified Fourier Transform, Sami Injrou, Wadii Ali Jun 2026

Solving Some Heat Problems In The Sense Of The Non-Conformable Fractional Derivative By Using Modified Fourier Transform, Sami Injrou, Wadii Ali

Al-Farahidi Expert Systems Journal

In this paper, we present two new concepts in Fourier analysis: the Fourier series and the Fourier transform in the sense of non-conformable fractional calculus. Some of their main properties are proven. Using this new Fourier series, new approximations of some functions are given, a frequency spectrum of a signal is plotted, and several cases of the heat equations involving the time non-conformable fractional derivative are solved and graphically presented. Furthermore, the introduced new Fourier transform is used to solve a homogeneous space-time non-conformable fractional heat equation.

Agentic Ai Approach For Online Financial Fraud Detection, Shadi Saleh, Kelechi Osuji, Wolfram Hardt Jun 2026

Agentic Ai Approach For Online Financial Fraud Detection, Shadi Saleh, Kelechi Osuji, Wolfram Hardt

Al-Farahidi Expert Systems Journal

As digital payment systems facilitate billions of transactions every day, there is a high probability of fraudulent activities in these systems. Traditional fraud detection systems, including rule-based systems and machine learning-based systems, have three major limitations: lack of explainability in terms of regulatory requirements, lack of contextual reasoning in terms of rare behavioral patterns, and lack of interaction with human experts in fraud analysis. This paper proposes a novel agentic framework in fraud detection systems by integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) in context-aware reasoning based on historical transaction evidence. The framework is designed as a system …

Computational Analysis Of A Single Air Bubble Rising In Quiescent Water Under Temperature Variations, Mokdad Hayawi Rahman, Muna Khalil Shehan, Emad Qasem Hussein, Farhan Lafta Rashid

Al-Farahidi Expert Systems Journal

Two-phase fluid flow is widely encountered in petroleum, chemical, nuclear, and energy applications. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) by ANSYS Fluent 17.2 has been employed in this work to simulate the rise of a single air bubble through stagnant water at different temperatures (0 °C, 25 °C, and 50 °C). In addition, a user-defined function(UDF)was developed and implemented to incorporate phase-change behavior and temperature-dependent properties. This study investigates how the buoyancy-driven bubble dynamics will be responsive to changes in liquid viscosity, surface tension, and density. The results demonstrated that increasing the temperature of water enhances the bubble rise velocity significantly; the …

Computational Assessment Of Aluminium-Adjuvanted Vaccine Antigen Stability In A Trehalose–Pullulan Glass Matrix: Bayesian Modeling Of Published Antigen Thermal-Inactivation Kinetics With Trehalose–Antigen Molecular Dynamics Literature Synthesis, Chaiyapat Chuenglertsiri, Pattrick Chen Jun 2026

Computational Assessment Of Aluminium-Adjuvanted Vaccine Antigen Stability In A Trehalose–Pullulan Glass Matrix: Bayesian Modeling Of Published Antigen Thermal-Inactivation Kinetics With Trehalose–Antigen Molecular Dynamics Literature Synthesis, Chaiyapat Chuenglertsiri, Pattrick Chen

Defensive Publications Series

This in-silico feasibility analysis discloses, as defensive prior art (CC BY 4.0), a hypothetical lyophilized presentation of aluminium-adjuvanted (alum) vaccines designed to remove the 2-8 C cold chain on which hepatitis A/B, DTaP, HPV, and pneumococcal-conjugate vaccines depend. No wet-lab antigen-binding, immunogenicity, or stability data are generated; all numerical predictions are computational extrapolations from peer-reviewed parameters. The dominant elevated-temperature failure mode is identified as antigen denaturation and irreversible aggregation, destroying conformational epitopes, rather than the slower aluminium-oxyhydroxide crystallization. The formulation embeds commercial Alhydrogel-grade aluminium oxyhydroxide carrying the adsorbed antigen in an amorphous trehalose-pullulan glass (about 80/15 w/w), reconstituted on use. …

Mitigate Structural Blindness In Code Translation Using A Graph-Based Representation, Suddhasatwa Bhaumik, Nilesh Jaiswal, Saurabh Garg, Aniket Agrawal, Divya Malhotra, Arjit Shukla, Suchit Puri Jun 2026

Mitigate Structural Blindness In Code Translation Using A Graph-Based Representation, Suddhasatwa Bhaumik, Nilesh Jaiswal, Saurabh Garg, Aniket Agrawal, Divya Malhotra, Arjit Shukla, Suchit Puri

Defensive Publications Series

Conventional vector-based retrieval augmented generation systems exhibit structural blindness when used for code migration, severing critical architectural relationships like class inheritance and leading to the generation of non-functional code with high API hallucination rates. A described approach models a codebase as an interconnected property graph where source code is parsed into abstract syntax trees (ASTs) and mapped to a graph of code entities (nodes) and their dependencies (edges). A topological sort of this graph creates a dependency-aware translation queue, ensuring parent classes are processed before child classes. This method, which can be combined with a semantic vector search fallback for …

Actively Stabilized Unmanned Aerial Vehicle With An Extendable Delivery Arm, Kiran Saripalli Jun 2026

Actively Stabilized Unmanned Aerial Vehicle With An Extendable Delivery Arm, Kiran Saripalli

Defensive Publications Series

A system is described that may comprise a UAV with a horizontally extendable arm. As the arm extends a payload, an active counter-torque flight control system can calculate a shifting center of gravity of the UAV and payload. The system can then dynamically adjust the thrust of the UAV's individual motors to generate a counteracting moment, which may help to maintain flight stability. The use of non-visual sensors, such as light detection and ranging, can facilitate navigation. This capability may allow the UAV to place a payload on an elevated surface, for example a balcony, while the main airframe remains …

Just-In-Time Generation And Enforcement Of Ephemeral Security Policies From Autonomous Agent Intent, Abhinash Kumar Giri Jun 2026

Just-In-Time Generation And Enforcement Of Ephemeral Security Policies From Autonomous Agent Intent, Abhinash Kumar Giri

Defensive Publications Series

In the field of autonomous agents, static security policies may be overly permissive, creating security risks, or overly restrictive, hindering agent functionality. Systems and methods are described for the just-in-time generation of security policies. A system can obtain an autonomous agent's declared intent for a specific action, for example, from a reasoning trace or a structured declaration. This high-level intent may then be translated into a temporary and kernel-enforceable capability profile that is active for a limited duration, such as for a single action. After the action completes, the temporary permissions can be invalidated. This approach can create ephemeral, least-privilege …

Hybrid Architecture For Digital Workflow Evaluation Via Parallel Analysis And Deterministic Aggregation, Shravan Patel, Neil Ge Jun 2026

Hybrid Architecture For Digital Workflow Evaluation Via Parallel Analysis And Deterministic Aggregation, Shravan Patel, Neil Ge

Defensive Publications Series

The evaluation of automated, multi-step digital workflows may face challenges such as context loss in long sequences, visual detail degradation from image processing, and non-deterministic results. A described technology can utilize a hybrid system architecture that may decouple visual analysis from state aggregation. A perception component can process visual captures of a workflow, such as screenshots, independently and potentially in parallel. This component can employ a high-resolution tiling method to analyze large images as smaller, overlapping segments, which can help preserve fine details for extraction by a machine learning model. A separate, programmatic aggregation component can then process the structured …

The Layered Knowledge Profile, Harendra A. Alwis Mr. Jun 2026

The Layered Knowledge Profile, Harendra A. Alwis Mr.

Defensive Publications Series

The Open Knowledge Format (OKF) gives the world a portable, vendor-neutral envelope for knowledge — markdown files with YAML frontmatter, cross-linked into a graph — and, by deliberate design, declines to specify how the knowledge inside that envelope should be organised, requiring only a single type field and defining the interoperability surface rather than the content model. The Layered Knowledge Profile (LKP) supplies the content model that OKF leaves open. It encodes, as machine-readable structure expressed entirely within OKF's own conventions, the asymmetric ontological dependency among the four realms of reality described by Alwis (2026), so that a body of …

Engineering Evaluation Of Post-Stroke Gait Using A Wearable G-Walk Sensor Under Different Ankle-Foot Orthosis Conditions: A Longitudinal Case Study, Mohamed Sattar Jabbar, Ammar Issam Kubba Jun 2026

Engineering Evaluation Of Post-Stroke Gait Using A Wearable G-Walk Sensor Under Different Ankle-Foot Orthosis Conditions: A Longitudinal Case Study, Mohamed Sattar Jabbar, Ammar Issam Kubba

AUIQ Technical Engineering Science

The gait profile of post-stroke patients is typically one of reduced speed, asymmetry and decreased functional mobility. Ankle–foot orthoses (AFOs) are commonly prescribed to enhance gait stability and promote safer ambulation; however, within-person longitudinal gait changes across multiple orthotic conditions have not yet been quantitatively characterized using wearable motion analysis systems. The objective of this study was to perform a longitudinal assessment of spatiotemporal gait parameters through a wearable G-Walk inertial measurement unit (IMU) with three walking conditions: without orthosis, Conventional custom-made ankle foot orthosis AFO and Prefabricated posterior leaf spring AFO. Two functional tasks, normal walking and Timed Up …

Unified Cognitive Architecture For Distributed Manifold Reasoning Systems, Donevin Frownfelter Jun 2026

Unified Cognitive Architecture For Distributed Manifold Reasoning Systems, Donevin Frownfelter

Defensive Publications Series

Donevin Frownfelter ([email protected])

This disclosure describes a unified cognitive architecture that integrates three complementary systems—VESPER, NEPHILIM, and the Unified Agent Reasoning Model (UARM)—into a single operational framework for distributed reasoning, semantic computation, and multi‑device intelligence. The architecture introduces a manifold‑based cognitive substrate, enabling agents to perform reasoning as transformations across a non‑Euclidean semantic space rather than through traditional symbolic or statistical pipelines.

The system employs a tensor‑manifold representation for knowledge, a Majorana‑parity logic layer for reversible inference, and a distributed execution mesh that allows heterogeneous devices to participate in a shared cognitive topology. VESPER provides the laminar reasoning core, NEPHILIM …

A Holistic Framework For Enhancing Machine Learning Reliability: From Model Architecture And Algorithm Design To Human Interpretability, Kyle Naddeo Jun 2026

A Holistic Framework For Enhancing Machine Learning Reliability: From Model Architecture And Algorithm Design To Human Interpretability, Kyle Naddeo

Theses and Dissertations

Modern machine learning systems can perform well on benchmarks yet fail in ways that are difficult for users to anticipate, interpret, or manage. This dissertation treats reliability as more than accuracy: a reliable system performs when it can, signals when it should not be trusted, and supports abstention, fallback, escalation, or human review. Unlike robustness, which emphasizes performance under shift, corruption, adversarial perturbation, or drift, reliability also requires recognizing limited competence, preserving useful semantic structure when fine-grained certainty is unjustified, and exposing mechanisms that make failures understandable. The dissertation develops this view through four contributions. Uncertainty-aware decision heads provide portable …
