Arbitrating Playback And Logging For Co-Watching Sessions, Nikita Agarwal
Arbitrating Playback And Logging For Co-Watching Sessions, Nikita Agarwal
Defensive Publications Series
Managing co-watching sessions may present difficulties when one user becomes inactive while others remain engaged, as continuing playback could create an inaccurate viewing history for the inactive user, while pausing could disrupt the session for active users. Systems and methods are described that can arbitrate playback by evaluating an inactivity signal from one user's device, such as a smartphone, tablet, or smart television, against countervailing activity signals from other session participants' devices. If playback continues, a split-state logging mechanism can decouple individual viewing histories, for example, by pausing the viewing progress record for the inactive user while continuing to update …

Spatial Pointing Architecture Using Fused Inertial And Ultra-Wideband Data, Rohit Jain
Defensive Publications Series
Navigating user interfaces on connected displays with conventional remote controls or motion-sensor-based pointers may present issues such as cursor drift, instability from hand tremors, and user fatigue. Described systems and techniques can use a companion computing device (e.g., a smartphone, smart watch, wearable device, etc.) as a six-degrees-of-freedom spatial pointer by fusing sensor data. High-frequency relative motion data from an inertial measurement unit (IMU) can be combined with lower-frequency absolute spatial positioning data from an ultra-wideband (UWB) radio that communicates with a display system. This fusion process may use the UWB data as a periodic reference to correct for cumulative …
Fixture-Resolved Water Monitoring And Leak Localization Via Transmission-Line Modeling And Active Time-Domain Reflectometry Of Residential Plumbing, Calvin Rose
Defensive Publications Series
We describe a method for inferring, from a single instrumented point on a dwelling’s main water supply, (i) which plumbing fixture is drawing water and (ii) the presence and physical location of leaks. The dwelling’s pipe network is modeled as a branched acoustic transmission line: pressure and volumetric flow play the roles of voltage and current, the distributed inertance and compliance of the water-filled pipe set a characteristic impedance and wave speed, viscous friction sets the attenuation, and a leak appears as a shunt admittance to a pressure sink at a specific location. Each fixture terminates a branch of distinct …

Industrial Silencer Pre-Dimensioning and Rapid Quotation Software
The invention relates to standalone software for the rapid pre-dimensioning, optimization, and cost estimation of industrial silencers used in HVAC, power generation, process industries, and environmental noise control.
Current practice relies either on empirical methods, which are fast but inaccurate, or on CFD/FEM/BEM simulation tools, which require specialist engineers and long computation times. These approaches are unsuitable for preparing competitive quotations within short deadlines.
The invention provides a physics-based calculation engine that generates technically reliable silencer designs in seconds without requiring CFD software or external dependencies. The software combines analytical and semi-analytical acoustic …
Energy Accounting For Pfas Treatment: Endpoint Definition, Concentration Dependence, And The Service-Equivalence Constraint, Ernest N. Sumrall
Energy Accounting For Pfas Treatment: Endpoint Definition, Concentration Dependence, And The Service-Equivalence Constraint, Ernest N. Sumrall
Defensive Publications Series
Energy performance in per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) treatment is often reported on a volumetric basis, in kilowatt-hours per cubic metre of water processed. Volumetric energy is necessary for hydraulic design and utility sizing, but it is insufficient by itself for cross-study comparison because it does not reference the quantity of contaminant addressed. This paper develops the mass-normalised complement and, more importantly, establishes the conditions under which either metric may be used comparatively.
Three results are presented. First, a taxonomy separating five distinct endpoints — transfer, removal, degradation, defluorination, and mineralisation — that are not interchangeable, and a corresponding pair …
Non-Custodial Ephemeral Compute Architecture For Privacy-Preserving Analysis Of Personal Data, Mary F. Camacho
Non-Custodial Ephemeral Compute Architecture For Privacy-Preserving Analysis Of Personal Data, Mary F. Camacho
Defensive Publications Series
A non-custodial, ephemeral compute architecture enables privacy-preserving analysis of personal data by an operator that, by construction and not by policy, contract, or trust, holds no persistent key material capable of decrypting the data it processes. The architecture lets an application separate two kinds of personal data that are usually conflated. Contact data is the identifying and reach information an application legitimately needs to hold (name, email, account and billing identifiers: who someone is and how to reach them). Confided data is the substantive information a person reveals about themselves: their body, mind, behavior, and life. The architecture processes the …
Technical Disclosure Specification: Topological Knot Genesis And Emergent Substrate Hydrodynamics Under The Dehp Framework, Christopher L. Eckes
Technical Disclosure Specification: Topological Knot Genesis And Emergent Substrate Hydrodynamics Under The Dehp Framework, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
Mainstream physics models the universe bottom-up, treating discrete particles as fundamental entities that aggregate to form fluidic fields. This disclosure explicitly inverts that paradigm. We specify a top-down cosmology where a pre-geometric 2D membrane, governed by a universal sine wave template, serves as the primary substrate.
Physical matter ("particles") is shown to be non-fundamental, emerging instead as stable, self-localized, three-dimensional projective "knots" formed through wave-phase confinement. Macroscopic fluidity is demonstrated to be a secondary byproduct—a mechanical simulation layer created by the collective, viscoelastic interaction of these cohesive knots under the continuous influence of driving wave harmonics. This specification establishes a …
Allfromair® Terra² System — Technical Addendum 7 (Revised): Wind-Assisted Aeraulic Drive, Bidirectional Fan Regeneration, Power-Inlet Pressure-Recovery Cowling, Reduced-Component Eco Operation & Goldilocks Site-Selection Framework, Vesa Olavi Lius
Defensive Publications Series
This is a corrected and expanded revision of ALLFROMAIR® TERRA² Technical Addendum 7, superseding the version at tdcommons.org/dpubs_series/9825 (16 April 2026). It corrects the earlier passive-cowling claim and adds bidirectional fan regeneration; a permanent-DOI copy is maintained at Zenodo (concept DOI 10.5281/zenodo.19581339).
Abstract
This Addendum discloses six extensions to the ALLFROMAIR® TERRA² Tri-Generation Platform:
- Wind-Assisted Aeraulic Drive — ambient wind as a partial or complete substitute for fan work through the Anticubic U-Channel, by direct superposition of free-stream dynamic pressure on the system pressure balance.
- Power-Inlet Pressure-Recovery Cowling — a convergent sail-fabric inlet whose function is full recovery of free-stream …

Technical Disclosure Specification: Module 6 Spherical Harmonic Instruction Set Compilers And Non-Linear Vector Transformation Languages For Distributed Ternary Fluid-Canvas Operating Networks, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
Traditional quantum and classical software compilation tracks remain tethered to linear, flat bit-mapping schemes that force computational logic arrays into rigid binary or standard qubit gating configurations. These legacy compilation chains introduce severe processing bottlenecks when applied to a non-equilibrium, multi-dimensional fluid computing canvas. This disclosure specifies a novel, standalone Spherical Harmonic Instruction Set Compiler designed to interface directly with the physical 3D runtime environment of self-assembled Hexagonal Close-Packed (HCP) inverse opal computing nodes.
Instead of compiling software instructions into linear, sequential machine code, this architecture utilizes 3D global illumination rendering algorithms—adapted from real-time graphics processing units (GPUs)—to translate abstract …
Heat-Driven Desiccant Comfort And Water Platform For Humid Climates (Land And Marine): Cacl2 Liquid-Desiccant And Aluminum-Fumarate Mof Coated-Exchanger Tracks, Ramon H. Pla
Defensive Publications Series
OVERVIEW
A complete, internally consistent paper design — nothing has been built — for a heat-driven desiccant comfort and drinking-water platform for humid-tropical climates, deployable on land and on marine platforms. Input is solar thermal or waste heat at 60–93 °C; outputs are dry cool air, safe indoor air quality (<1,000 ppm CO2 in sealed operation), hot water, and potable water, for occupied volumes of roughly 100 m3 (yacht interiors, small dwellings, cabins, shelters).
The sole governing design point is DP-A: 32 °C / 80% RH (humidity ratio 24.2 g/kg, dew point 28.1 °C) with a raw-water sink near 29 °C. At this condition every ambient heat sink sits at or above the dew point, so sink-cooled condensation harvests essentially no water and …

Master System Architecture For Room-Temperature Ternary Quantum Computers - Monolithic Structural Integration Of Solitonic Cores, Inter-Node Entanglement Bridges, And Modular Control Interfaces, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
Traditional quantum hardware development remains fragmented by isolated design cycles, where core qubits, routing networks, driver electronics, and control software are engineered in separate silos. This systemic fragmentation introduces massive integration friction, leading to severe signal mismatches, thermal leaks, and immediate wave collapse when components are wired together. This disclosure specifies a comprehensive, multi-layered Master System Architecture that unifies the complete hardware, software, sensing, and manufacturing layers of a non-equilibrium, room-temperature ternary quantum computer into a single monolithic framework.
This master framework integrates and anchors six distinct operational layers: the core qubit blocks (MS #12489), the fluidic inter-node entanglement ribbons …

Non-Equilibrium Phase-Change Quantum Topology: Reversible Solitonic Wave-Field Stabilization Inside Self-Assembled 3d Inverse Opal Lattices, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
Current paradigms in quantum computing remain heavily bottlenecked by environmental decoherence, brute-force cryogenic scaling constraints, and the mechanical fragility of localized qubits. This paper introduces an alternative top-down, wave-first hardware architecture that shifts the operational paradigm from brute-force isolation to dynamic phase boundary transport. By utilizing a solid-state, self-assembled Hexagonal Close-Packed (HCP) 3D inverse opal matrix constructed from fused silica (SiO₂), we establish an omnidirectional phononic bandgap that isolates volatile computational wave-fields from external ambient noise.
The internal hollow spherical cavities of this matrix are lined via Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) with an Interfacial Phase-Change Memory (iPCM) superlattice structure composed …

Existing educational platforms often operate without longitudinal awareness of student academic histories, with performance data remaining fragmented across disconnected systems, courses, and academic years. This fragmentation limits the ability of tutoring systems to identify root causes of learning difficulties or to leverage documented student strengths when generating instructional responses. The disclosed technology provides a tutoring system that aggregates academic records from multiple educational data sources and constructs unified learner profiles by analyzing both structured data, such as assessment scores, and unstructured educational artifacts, such as essays and teacher feedback. A response generation component synthesizes personalized explanations based on the comprehensive …

A system, such as a head-mounted device, may include an eye tracking subsystem configured to determine a user's cornea position by analyzing specular reflections (i.e., glints) from light sources of the system, which are directed at the user’s eye and captured by a camera of the system. This disclosure describes a software-based method to configure the system to accurately match bright specular reflections in an image to the specific light sources that created them. To achieve this, the algorithm calculates candidate cornea center locations based on the image reflections and determines the most probable center from these accumulated candidates. This …

Enhancing Surgical Team Readiness: Simulation Training For Power Failure Response In Robotic Procedures, Heather Marie Sorton
Enhancing Surgical Team Readiness: Simulation Training For Power Failure Response In Robotic Procedures, Heather Marie Sorton
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
In this Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project, I used a quality improvement design to implement and evaluate a simulation-based education aimed at improving perioperative staff knowledge related to robotic power-loss events. A practice gap was identified in staff preparedness for robotic system failures due to limited education on emergency protocols, communication, team roles, and Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN)-aligned response processes, impacting patient safety during robotic-assisted procedures. I examined whether implementation of a simulation-based educational intervention improved staff knowledge related to robotic power-loss management. The purpose of the project was to improve staff knowledge and standardize responses to …
Scale-Dependent Drivers Of Demographic Change For American Pikas (Ochotona Princeps) In Glacier National Park, Montana: Local Habitat Characteristics Vs. Regional Climate Trends, Danielle M. Owens
Biology ETDs
Climate change is shifting thermal environments globally, driving range contractions, upslope movement, and poleward shifts across taxa. However, these changes are not uniform: microclimates, shaped by topography, can amplify or decouple operative temperatures from regional trends. The American pika is an ideal model for studying climate-driven population change given its strong site fidelity and thermal sensitivities. We re-surveyed 173 sites in Glacier National Park, originally surveyed in 2007-2010, using an AIC-based model selection to test competing local and regional hypotheses driving three demographic processes: persistence, colonization, and within-patch density change. Pika occupancy increased over the 15-year period, with a net …

Finding Fish Families: Movement And Demography Of Loach Minnow (Tiaroga Cobitis) Inferred From Gt-Seq-Enabled Kinship Analysis, Patrick C. Baca
Biology ETDs
River fragmentation poses major threats to freshwater biodiversity by reducing connectivity and limiting persistence of imperiled desert fishes. Connectivity in streams is impaired by anthropogenic changes, including road crossings, prompting the installation of engineered fish passage structures at low-water road crossings and raising questions about the dispersal of aquatic species across these structures. This thesis investigates the movement of the threatened Loach Minnow (Tiaroga cobitis) by applying a close-kin mark-recapture (CKMR) framework in a restored stream (including a fish passage) and a stream without rehabilitation efforts. We developed and optimized a GT-seq panel for relatedness analysis and used it to …
Using Temporal Genomic Data To Uncover Patterns Of Genetic Diversity And Signatures Of Selection For Management Of A Threatened Minnow Species, Erika A. Dunn
Biology ETDs
The Little Colorado River (LCR) spinedace persists only in three isolated watersheds within the LCR Basin in Arizona. This imperiled minnow faces ongoing pressure from habitat alteration, climatic shifts, and invasive non-native predators. Over the past two decades, managers have translocated spinedace within watersheds to increase abundance and expand habitat occupancy. We sequenced a reference genome and analyzed single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) from 475 individuals over their geographic range. DNA samples were obtained from a previous study in the mid-1990s and compared with samples from 2024 and 2025, allowing us to track genetic diversity, effective population size, population structure, and …
How To Measure A Carnivore: Understanding The Scaling Of Cranial And Postcranial Elements With Body Mass, Marina Casiano Ruiz
How To Measure A Carnivore: Understanding The Scaling Of Cranial And Postcranial Elements With Body Mass, Marina Casiano Ruiz
Biology ETDs
Body size is a fundamental predictor of ecological function, life history, and population dynamics in mammals. However, direct measurements of body mass remain unavailable for many rare or extinct species, particularly within the order Carnivora. Allometric relationships between skeletal dimensions and body mass provide a tractable solution; however, previous studies have been limited in their taxonomic scope or trait diversity. Here, we quantify the scaling of 82 cranial and postcranial traits across 97 species from 11 carnivoran families spanning four orders of magnitude in body mass (20g to >500kg). Additionally, we examine the influence of phylogenetic relatedness, dietary specialization, and …
Improving Outpatient Provider Preparedness Through Simulation-Based Training: A Quality Improvement Project, Kristina Weyer
Improving Outpatient Provider Preparedness Through Simulation-Based Training: A Quality Improvement Project, Kristina Weyer
DNP Projects
Introduction:
Simulation-based training is an effective educational strategy, particularly for high-acuity, low-frequency events such as patient decompensation in outpatient settings. However, there is a gap in both literature and practice regarding provider participation in simulation, as competing clinical demands often limit engagement. Local organizational leaders identified limited opportunities for outpatient providers to practice management of acute decompensating patients. The purpose of this project was to evaluate provider competence and confidence in managing a decompensating patient in the outpatient setting and to assess perceptions of the value of time spent in simulation.
Methods:
This quality improvement project evaluated providers who participated …

Bridging The Gap: Empowering Primary Care Providers With Nonpharmalogical Strategies For Adhd Management, Grace Sawyer
Bridging The Gap: Empowering Primary Care Providers With Nonpharmalogical Strategies For Adhd Management, Grace Sawyer
DNP Projects
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) affects many adults and children and is commonly managed with pharmaceutical drugs. Although evidence supports the use of nonpharmacological, many providers may not know or have the confidence to use these modalities to incorporate these into practice. This educational gap could contribute to an overreliance on medication when there are other options available for comprehensive ADHD care. This quality improvement pretest-posttest design aimed to bridge the gap in provider knowledge and confidence regarding evidence-based nonpharmacological ADHD management at two college health clinics. The intervention consisted of four pre-recorded modules delivered over four weeks that focused on exercise, …

Metastatic Large Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma: A Rare Cause Of Hypopituitarism, Smriti Nair, Taskeen Ahmed, Jessica Watari
Division of Internal Medicine Faculty Papers & Presentations
Pituitary metastases from pulmonary large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) are exceedingly rare but should be considered in patients presenting with arginine vasopressin deficiency and panhypopituitarism in the context of known or suspected metastatic lung cancer. Early recognition and prompt initiation of hormonal replacement therapy are essential to prevent life-threatening endocrine crises and to improve symptom burden. We describe a case of a 43-year-old male who presented with dyspnea, weight loss, and weakness who was found to have metastatic LCNEC involving the liver. Endocrine evaluation revealed central hypothyroidism, central adrenal insufficiency, and later arginine vasopressin deficiency manifested by polyuria and hypernatremia. …
