Adult Romantic Attachment Styles, Attachment To God And Recidivism Risk Among Adult Male Sexual Offenders, Mary Crystal Wring
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This study investigated the possible relationship between attachment to adult romantic partners and attachment to God style and sexual/violent recidivism risk scores. The study, also, sought to understand the lived experiences of adult male sexual offenders in relation to their family of origin, romantic partners, and with the Christian God. Participants (N=38) completed self-report questionnaires on their attachment styles to adult romantic partners (ECR-R) and to God (AGI). These scores were analyzed using chi-squared test of independence and multiple linear regression with scores of sexual/violent recidivism risk assessments performed by their probation or corrections officers (STATIC 99R, CPORT). This study …
Pennsylvania Germans In The Seventeenth & Eighteenth Century: God, Community, And Country Die Pennsylvania-Deutschen Im 17. Und 18. Jahrhundert: Gott, Gemeinschaft Und Land, James M. Deitch
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The terms freedom, liberty, liberalism, republicanism, linguistics, culture, and religion are all strongly associated with the early history of Pennsylvania. Historians have documented aspects of German and Anglo-Pennsylvanians. Historians have written about the conflict between freedom and liberty with loose definitions. Others have mentioned these differences only in passing, as if the Germans did not figure as prominently in the overall narrative, or other cases, assuming that all people understood and experienced freedom in the same manner and defined it with the same meanings and context. In Pennsylvania during the late 17th century and throughout the 18th century, the Germans …

Developing The Importance Of Integrity To Consistently Display Biblical Principles And Characteristics In Ministry Leadership Roles, Michella R. Keys
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Integrity in ministry is not a choice; it must be the lifestyle of those in leadership. Christian leaders must understand the influence they have on others (Bredfeldt, 2006). The dissertation focuses on the importance of integrity and how, as Christian leaders, it is essential to consistently display integrity, biblical principles, and biblical characteristics when in leadership roles in ministry.. The problem arises when ministry leaders do not live a consistent lifestyle that aligns with God’s word. Training and developing Christian leaders who know Jesus as their example and can lead by being a role model for others with consistent character …

Left Atrial Remodeling Parameters And Brain Natriuretic Peptide Levels In Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation, Osama Amin, Ahmed Alaarag, Haidy Khattab, Mahmoud Abou-Omar
Journal of the Saudi Heart Association
Objectives: Left atrial (LA) remodeling, categorized by functional and structural variations, is predominant in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and atrial fibrillation (AF). Brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels, implying atrial strain, may lead management by indicating LA remodeling severity. This study was instructed to correlate BNP levels with LA volume index (LAVI) in HFpEF patients with nonvalvular AF against sinus rhythm (SR), to evaluate diagnostic implications.
Methods: This two-center, observational, cross-sectional study (April 2023–October 2024) registered 340 patients with de novo HFpEF (140 AF, 200 SR). Patients with left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) less than 50%, valvular disease, …
Exploring Biblical Foundations In Biology, Keith Snyder Phd
Exploring Biblical Foundations In Biology, Keith Snyder Phd
The Journal of Biblical Foundations of Faith and Learning
Biologists have one of the most challenging areas of study due to the breadth of topics. Biology literally encompasses all life. Since life is based on chemical principles, which in turn are based on physical laws, we need to understand this panorama of science. Because academia in the US has pigeon-holed so much of our education, students are often unable to see the true integration of all aspects of life, resulting in a warped understanding of the interrelated complexity of our God’s creation. It is our duty to show how this intertwining of science and faith more fully represents God’s …

Securing Ai-Generated Code, Andreas E. Nelson
Securing Ai-Generated Code, Andreas E. Nelson
Scholarly Horizons: University of Minnesota, Morris Undergraduate Journal
The increasing use of AI for code generation presents significant security challenges, as these tools often lack inherent security awareness and can produce vulnerable code. This paper investigates these security risks, outlining common types of vulnerabilities (such as injection flaws and improper resource handling) found in AI-generated code. It further explores and evaluates mitigation techniques aimed at im-proving code security, including model fine-tuning and adversarial strategies like Security Verifier Enhanced Neural Steering (SVEN). Findings indicate that while current methods offer promising ways to reduce vulnerabilities, ongoing research and development are crucial for the secure and responsible deployment of AI in …
Relightable Neural Radiance Fields For Novel View Synthesis, Malena I. Mahoney
Relightable Neural Radiance Fields For Novel View Synthesis, Malena I. Mahoney
Scholarly Horizons: University of Minnesota, Morris Undergraduate Journal
This paper describes relighting neural radiance fields for novel view synthesis. View synthesis is the problem of using input images with corresponding camera angles to produce a photorealistic 3D model of an environment and its objects. Neural radiance fields (NeRFs) were created as a solution to view synthesis. Neural radiance field models work well for generating realistic 3D models from 2D image inputs; how-ever, they do not support changing the lighting or placing the objects from the input images into different environments. The problem comes from the fact that NeRFs rely on a neural network that is essentially overfitted to …
La Lutte Pour Les Droits Des Femmes Africaines: Le Womanisme Dans Taafe Fanga, Elizabeth Davis
La Lutte Pour Les Droits Des Femmes Africaines: Le Womanisme Dans Taafe Fanga, Elizabeth Davis
Scholarly Horizons: University of Minnesota, Morris Undergraduate Journal

Derrida In Mesopotamia: On The Import Of The Cuneiform Inscriptions In Of Grammatology, Will Greenshields
Derrida In Mesopotamia: On The Import Of The Cuneiform Inscriptions In Of Grammatology, Will Greenshields
CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture
Cuneiform writing has a small but privileged position in Derrida’s Of Grammatology – providing the text with its first two epigraphs. By elucidating the source and import of these inscriptions and evaluating Derrida’s understanding of the cuneiform writing system in reference to more recent grammatological studies, this paper explains the significance of these references to the ancient Near East for Derrida’s arguments regarding the origins of Western metaphysics and logocentrism. In the first part, I analyze Derrida’s brief paragraph on cuneiform writing in Of Grammatology as evincing a “fundamental synaesthesia” of phonetic and non-phonetic elements that problematizes the phonocentric definition …

In "'El Corregidor at the Crossroads: Desire, Law and Coloniality in Martel's Zama" Leisa Kauffmann discusses Lucrecia Martel's filmic adaptation of Antonio DiBenedetto's 1952 novel, Zama. Highlighting the director's emphasis on the psychoanalytic (as opposed to the existentialist) dimensions of the novel, the essay follows the titular characater's unravelling and shows how Martel's film allegorizes colonial(ist) subjectivity. In Kauffmann's essay, various psychoanalytic theories (such as the work of Bhabha, Fanon, and Žižek), and critiques centering the notion of race in the Lacanian tradition are applied. In addition, differences between the novel and film, particularly regarding Zama's mutilation and …

In this essay we propose a critical reading of three politically-charged canonic texts of Puerto Rican literature that uphold and vindicate an African heritage for Puerto Rican culture, highlighting their role in moving discussions about blackness at the center stage of debates about national identity and culture, and assessing their contribution to the emergence and development of an Afro-Puerto Rican identity and literature. These texts are: Luis Palés Matos’s Tom-Tom of Kinky Hair and Black Things, José Luis González’s La llegada; and Edgardo Rodríguez Juliá’s Cortijo’s Wake. Moreover, a debate about the racial background of the authors …

This article examines the narrative art of Abū ‘l-Faraj al-Iṣbahānī’s Kitāb al-Aghānī through a close reading of the chapter on the poet Kuthayyir ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān (d. 723). Though Kuthayyir is mocked throughout for his short stature, unorthodox beliefs, and supposed insincerity, the chapter ends with a surprising scene: his death is mourned by the people of Medina in a large public funeral, suggesting a reevaluation of his character. I argue that this tonal shift is not incidental but the result of Iṣbahānī’s deliberate narrative arrangement. By analyzing the structure of the chapter—including the juxtaposition of genealogical accounts, the gradual …
Melodramatic Joy In Ibrahim Nasrallah’S Trilogy Of The Bells, Adam V. Spanos
Melodramatic Joy In Ibrahim Nasrallah’S Trilogy Of The Bells, Adam V. Spanos

This essay argues that absurdist humor, so often theorized as a challenge to metaphysical and identitarian claims, in fact supports such claims within the context of anticolonial nationalist melodrama. In his Trilogy of the Bells [2019], Palestinian writer Ibrahim Nasrallah uses the conventions of melodrama to make an epistemological claim specific to Palestinian experience. Confronting a regime that has been largely successful in determining the internationally accepted common sense about the conflict, Nasrallah aims to present the external world with a narrative of Palestinian history, experience, and aspirations. The Manichean distinctions, spectacular displays of pathos, and manifestations of suppressed secrets …
