Building Belonging: Designing A Training Program To Foster Inclusion In Children's Ministry, Amanda J. Lemieux
Building Belonging: Designing A Training Program To Foster Inclusion In Children's Ministry, Amanda J. Lemieux
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The strategic problem aims to address how to train volunteer children’s ministry workers to feel more confident and well-equipped to handle children with diverse needs. Paul wrote in Romans that one should be accepting of all people just as Jesus accepted (Rom. 15:5-7). Humanity is created in the very image of God, the Creator. It is essential to recognize that everyone is created in God’s image and, therefore, deserves to be treated as such (Gen. 1:27). A healthy children’s ministry should ensure that all children are not only welcome within the classroom but also taught in a way that they …

Examining The Role Of Metacognitive Strategies In Sight-Reading Instruction: Insights From Middle School Chorus Teachers, Krystin M. Kicklighter
Examining The Role Of Metacognitive Strategies In Sight-Reading Instruction: Insights From Middle School Chorus Teachers, Krystin M. Kicklighter
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Sight-reading in middle school chorus classes is emphasized more heavily due to the standards of learning. Teachers use various approaches to teach sight-reading. One strategy teachers can use is metacognition during the sight-reading process. However, there is limited research on teachers' perspectives on metacognition in middle school. Metacognition involves self-awareness, self-evaluation, and self-regulation. By engaging in these activities, learners can gain better control over their thought processes. This is especially important for music educators, since music learning and practice involve many metacognitive concepts. This qualitative-hermeneutic study explored middle school chorus teachers' perceptions of sight-reading practice and how they incorporate metacognition …

Masters Theses (Archived)
Even before the global pandemic, but especially after COVID-19, the teacher retention numbers have been on the decline and the number of teachers who express teacher burnout has steadily risen. Teachers continue to face behavioral issues, work overload, and high student achievement expectations. Teaching is a stressful, intensive, and complex job that requires teachers to facilitate and support students’ personal growth and enable school performance (Johnson et al., 2014). Years of overload and high occupational stress often send teachers to early retirement and sometimes into different professional fields. Through a qualitative case study approach, this research explores the reasons some …

"The Yellow Wall-Paper": Decoding Medical Patriarchal Structures (A Common Theme Within Gothic Literature/Horror), Yvonne T. Samuels
Masters Theses (Archived)
This paper makes the claim that Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s “The Yellow Wall-Paper” encoded the medical system as part of the patriarchy used to control and harm women, especially within the 19th Century, and how this is a common theme within gothic literature and modern-day horror. Through the Feminist Literary Criticism framework and the methodology of textual analysis, certain literary devices Gilman uses, including the Gothic trope of the narrator’s environment in “The Yellow Wall-Paper” is analyzed to reveal women living in a patriarchal society during the 19thCentury and the medical system being a source of power. “The …

The intracellular processing route used by type I conventional dendritic cells (cDC1) for cross-presentation of viral- or tumor-associated antigens remains controversial. One model proposes that captured antigens exit from damaged phagolysosomes and enter the cytosol, where they are processed for presentation by MHC class I molecules (MHC-I). This model relies on proteasomal degradation and TAP-dependent peptide transport into the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) for loading by the peptide loading complex (PLC). An alternative model proposes a vesicular route in which captured antigens are retained and processed within an endocytic compartment. A compelling argument favoring the cytosolic model is the dramatic loss …

Coordinated, Heterogeneous Model Composition Under A Shared Governance And Audit Layer, Joseph Jm Walker
Defensive Publications Series
This paper introduces the Modular Artificial Specialized Intelligence (MASI) framework, a distributed cognitive architecture designed to address the safety, transparency, and governability limitations of monolithic foundation models. MASI decouples reasoning into four canonical, independently operational roles—Wisdom, Foresight, Empathy, and Precision—coordinated through a standardized communication layer known as the MASI Bus. The framework enforces a Consult-Before-Execute (CBE) protocol, requiring multi-perspective verification, drift detection, and ethical arbitration prior to any system output or tool execution. This deliberative process is quantified via the MASI Trust Score ($T_{masi}$), a dynamic metric integrating fairness, logic, and uncertainty into a verifiable audit artifact. Additionally, the …
