Increasing Confidence Of Respiratory Therapy Students In Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Using Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice, Heather Ashley
Increasing Confidence Of Respiratory Therapy Students In Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Using Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice, Heather Ashley
Theses
Background: Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice (RCDP) simulation has emerged as an innovative approach to strengthening confidence among healthcare learners and professionals. Grounded in Kolb’s Experiential Learning Theory, RCDP emphasizes structured repetition, immediate feedback, and skill refinement through cycles of performance, reflection, and reapplication.
Methods: Senior-level respiratory therapy students participated in either a traditional cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) simulation or an RCDP CPR simulation as part of their scheduled coursework. After completing the simulation, students participated in a post‑simulation survey, and scores were compared between the two groups.
Results: Confidence was evident across both simulation methods, and students indicated increased self‑confidence following …

A Rare Case Of Successful Resolution Of Bifurcation Stenosis Using Double Kissing Crush Stenting Technique, Greeshma Molugu, Tony Alacron, Karthik Anand, Machaiah Madhrira
North Texas GME Research Forum 2026
Introduction: Bifurcation lesions are associated with greater procedural complexity and consequently are at higher risk for stent restenosis. Bifurcation lesions are still technically challenging even in the era of modern stents. High incidence of restenosis both in the main vesseI and side branch Iimits the Iong-term prognosis. We present a rare case of successful resolution of bifurcation stenosis in a patient by using the double kissing (DK) crush stenting technique.
Case Description: A 52-year-old male patient with a past medical history of hypertension presented to the hospital for elective left heart catheterization as a part of an evaluation for a …

Common Schemes, Real Harm: Examining Fraud In Medicare And Medicaid, Hearing Before The United States House Of Representatives Committee On Energy And Commerce, Subcommittee On Oversight And Investigations, Jessica Tillipman
GW Law Faculty Publications & Other Works
The testimony argues that effective Medicare and Medicaid program integrity requires clear definitions, sustained oversight capacity, and incentives aligned toward prevention rather than retrospective recovery. It stresses that “fraud” is a legal determination and should not be conflated with broader measures of improper payments or documentation deficiencies, because that confusion distorts risk assessments and policy responses. It evaluates the current enforcement ecosystem across CMS, HHS-OIG, DOJ, GAO, and state partners, emphasizing coordination, stable resourcing, and accountability in managed care as central to deterrence. It also highlights how advanced analytics and generative AI can both amplify fraud schemes and strengthen detection, …

Transversal Storytelling | Wintersession 2026 Syllabus, Patrick Buhr, Movement Lab
Transversal Storytelling | Wintersession 2026 Syllabus, Patrick Buhr, Movement Lab
Course Materials
What does "story" mean? How can stories help us understand what appears profoundly different from us? How might seemingly unrelated elements converge in poetic resonance?
A “transversal line” cuts across worlds — moving through unexpected spaces, ideas, people, and moments. In this course, we explore how such crossings can inspire new forms of expanded storytelling and technique, looking at vivid examples from animation, film, coding, and performance. The students will choose contrasting elements (stories / characters / places) from their personal experience and together explore artistic ways of creating meaningful transitions and intersections.
The class will culminate in the development …

The Apathy Economy: Patents, Advertising, And Consumer Indifference, Gavin Milczarek-Desai, Derek E. Bambauer
UF Law Faculty Publications
Patents function as signals as well as rights to exclude. They inform competitors, investors, employees, and consumers about the invention and its owner. How this information affects consumers is not well understood. Existing studies disagree about how advertising a product or service as patented, or patent pending, affects the price consumers will pay. This Article offers the first major empirical study of that question and finds that consumers behave with surprising rationality: they will not pay any price premium for a patented product. A product’s patent status conveys little information about whether it is superior to competing offerings. The results …
A History Of Vacatur, Benjamin B. Johnson
A History Of Vacatur, Benjamin B. Johnson
UF Law Faculty Publications
Vacatur, a seemingly routine appellate tool, has evolved into one of the Supreme Court’s most potent instruments for declaring law. This Article offers the first comprehensive historical account of vacatur, tracing its roots from English and early American practice through its twentieth-century transformations to its contemporary uses. Historically, courts used vacatur to manage dockets, correct procedural irregularities, or enforce reversals on the merits. Modern usage has departed markedly from these roots. The Court now frequently employs vacatur to declare binding legal rules without issuing judgments, effectively circumventing traditional limits on judicial power. Taking seriously the Court’s own insistence on history …
Beyond Sharenting, Stacey B. Steinberg
Beyond Sharenting, Stacey B. Steinberg
UF Law Faculty Publications
Sharenting—the practice of parents sharing information about their children online—has become mainstream in American society. While most forms of sharenting may be considered benign or even beneficial, some parents harm or exploit their children when sharing online. For example, “mom-influencers” often violate their children’s privacy in their attempts to attract followers to their social media accounts. While traditional forms of parental sharing raise privacy concerns, we are only beginning to understand the dangers and impacts of widespread exposure of children on social media.
This Article is the first to propose a welfare model of child protection to address exploitative and …
The Impacts Of Land Use Land Cover Change And Urbanization On Precipitation In The Kentucky–Ohio River Valley, Madison Wallner
The Impacts Of Land Use Land Cover Change And Urbanization On Precipitation In The Kentucky–Ohio River Valley, Madison Wallner
Theses
This thesis evaluates how urban growth modifies warm-season rainfall and convection near Louisville, Cincinnati, and Evansville. From 1987–2024, rainfall increased at most stations, but MERRA-2 and statistical modeling show that regional ascent and moisture were the primary controls on seasonal precipitation. Radar analysis identified storm initiation as the dominant event type, especially near Louisville’s urban–river boundary and northeastern downwind corridor. Louisville’s developed land increased from 53.5% to 66.3%, while MODIS showed significant nighttime warming but little daytime warming. GOES cloud-frequency patterns were also locally enhanced near river, urban-edge, southeastern vegetated, and downwind areas. WRF sensitivity simulations showed that urban land …

ABO3 perovskite oxides are a versatile class of materials whose surfaces and interfaces play essential roles in sustainable energy technologies, including catalysis, solid oxide fuel and electrolysis cells, thermoelectrics, and energy-relevant oxide electronics. The interplay between point defects and surface reconstructions strongly affects interfacial stability, charge transport, and catalytic activity under operating conditions. This review summarizes recent progress in understanding how oxygen vacancies, cation nonstoichiometry, and electronic defects couple to atomic-scale surface rearrangements in representative perovskite systems. We first revisit Tasker’s classification of ionic surfaces and clarify how defect chemistry provides compensation mechanisms that stabilize otherwise polar or metastable …
Re-Rethinking Asian Exclusion And Color-Blind Immigration, Gabriel J. Chin
Re-Rethinking Asian Exclusion And Color-Blind Immigration, Gabriel J. Chin
SMU Law Review
During Reconstruction, as Congress debated the place of African-Americans in U.S. society, it evaluated how the principles it articulated would apply to Chinese-Americans. Rather than adopting a race-neutral jurisprudence, it began identifying the ways in which the law could be deployed to deny Asians economic and political opportunities, and the right to immigrate. Ultimately, a joint network of federal and state laws denied Asians the right to naturalize, to own land, and to immigrate. In a rare win, a divided Supreme Court held that the children of Chinese people born in the United States were citizens by virtue of the …
The New Assault On Plyler V. Doe, Cori Alonso-Yoder, Gabriel Sanchez
The New Assault On Plyler V. Doe, Cori Alonso-Yoder, Gabriel Sanchez
SMU Law Review
The second Trump Administration has disregarded a history of bipartisan support in avoiding immigration enforcement actions in schools. Certain states have acted to further target children at school—advancing measures to exclude many from public education based on immigration status. While the Supreme Court in Plyler v. Doe affirmed the state and national interests in educating students regardless of status, the Heritage Foundation has called on states to pass legislation to overturn that decades-old precedent. While no state has yet adopted these measures, many states have tried, marking a new attack on the precedent in Plyler.

The Pregnancy Draft, Meghan M. Boone
The Pregnancy Draft, Meghan M. Boone
SMU Law Review
By severely limiting or outright banning abortion, states are requiring pregnant people to perform reproductive labor in the service of the state’s own interests. Unwilling pregnant people are compelled, through the force of law, to continue their pregnancies—to perform a task that is difficult, dangerous, and fundamentally alters their life’s course. The state justifies overcoming the pregnant person’s unwillingness by prioritizing its own interests in the continuation of the pregnancy—articulated at various times as an interest in potential life, the protection of health or the integrity of the medical profession, or the prevention of discrimination.
There is only one other …
Racing To Safety: Tax Policy For Ai Safety-By-Design, Mirit Eyal-Cohen, Yonathan Arbel
Racing To Safety: Tax Policy For Ai Safety-By-Design, Mirit Eyal-Cohen, Yonathan Arbel
SMU Law Review
The White House recently announced its vision of artificial intelligence (AI) policy: AI development is a race and America must win it. To that end, a new America’s AI Action Plan directs federal agencies and states to remove regulatory barriers to AI development and accelerate innovation. This approach leaves limited room for regulatory measures that would address the safety risks of powerful AI systems: their behavior in novel domains remains unpredictable, their decision-making opaqueness, and their alignment with human values is uncertain. While experts warn of large-scale accidents, policymakers find themselves in a bind: Regulate AI and cede ground to …
Holding The Debtor’S Fresh Start Hostage: Bankruptcy Courts Incorrectly Interpret Ransom V. Fia Card Services To Deny Debtors A Car Ownership Expense Deduction, Creola Johnson
Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal
With the passage of the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005, Congress adopted for the first time a standardized income-based test for measuring an individual debtor’s “disposable income,” which is the amount a debtor must pay to unsecured creditors in a chapter 13 proceeding. Under the means test, debtors calculate their disposable income by deducting from income various standard expenses established by the Internal Revenue Service. One of those standard expenses is a vehicle ownership expense, which debtors can deduct if they have auto loan or lease payments.
This Article is about bankruptcy courts who …
Identification And Characterization Of Tornado Seismic Signals In The Central U.S., Seth Thompson
Identification And Characterization Of Tornado Seismic Signals In The Central U.S., Seth Thompson
Theses and Dissertations--Earth and Environmental Sciences
Tornadoes cause extensive property damage and endanger lives. While Doppler radar can indicate the potential for tornado development, it cannot confirm that a tornado is in contact with the ground unless a debris signature is present. While on the ground, a significant amount of a tornado’s energy may be transferred into the earth as seismic vibrations. Thus, seismometers have the potential to detect on-the-ground tornadoes. Since 1960, only five papers have published seismic recordings from tornadoes. These studies have mostly reported on seismic waves generated by tornadoes at a relatively large range, from 0.01-2.5 Hz, representing uncertainty in the dominant …

Associations Of Non-Motor Symptoms With Perceptual Speech Impairments In Parkinson’S Disease, Rui Liu, Ciara Leydon
Associations Of Non-Motor Symptoms With Perceptual Speech Impairments In Parkinson’S Disease, Rui Liu, Ciara Leydon
Health Science Faculty Publications
Background:
Communication impairments are common, multifaceted, and progressive symptoms of Parkinson’s disease (PD), and have deleterious impacts on individual wellbeing. Self-awareness of communication impairments and the rate and extent of decline in speech skills vary substantially across individuals and are challenging to predict. To address these, we aimed to (1) evaluate associations between non-motor symptoms (NMS) and speech impairment at year seven and (2) compare the progression of self-perceived and examiner-rated speech impairment ratings scores across a seven-year follow-up period.
Method:
The study included 417 PD participants from the Parkinson’s Progression Marker Initiative. NMS were assessed using validated instruments covering …

Global Supply Chain Resilience In Emerging Technologies: A Case Study Of Bitcoin Mining, Kishanthi Parella, Carla L. Reyes
Global Supply Chain Resilience In Emerging Technologies: A Case Study Of Bitcoin Mining, Kishanthi Parella, Carla L. Reyes
Scholarly Articles
The United States has put into motion bold plans in critical and emerging technologies to bolster its national and economic security. For example, the federal government created a national bitcoin strategic reserve and a stockpile of other cryptocurrency; while several states have committed to or are considering similar goals. However, the security of these reserves is dependent on two types of supply chains within the Bitcoin mining industry: analogue supply chains, relating to the physical components needed for Bitcoin mining, and data supply chains, relating to the complex and layered logistical network of actors that create input into …
Re-Examining U.S. Bailouts In The Digital Era: Moral Hazard And Adverse Consequences, Joel Slawotsky
Re-Examining U.S. Bailouts In The Digital Era: Moral Hazard And Adverse Consequences, Joel Slawotsky
American University Business Law Review
Financial institutional bailouts have become the new normal in recent decades. From the savings and loan crisis, to the sub-prime, to SVB and Signature, the U.S. government and regulators have decided that the failure to protect depositors and investors could lead to bank runs, a destabilized banking sector, and ultimately economic turmoil inflicting tremendous monetary and social costs on citizens. However, the mainstreaming of bailouts has led to moral hazard, i.e., the expectation among all stakeholders including financial institutions, investors, creditors, and regulators, that a government rescue is inevitable. The problem of moral hazard is the creation of incentives to …
Incentivized Delegation In Corporate Criminal Investigations: State Action, Unconstitutional Conditions, And Fifth Amendment Erosion., Ying Zhou
American University Business Law Review
This Article identifies and critiques “incentivized delegation,” an enforcement regime in which the Department of Justice (DOJ) conditions prosecutorial leniency on corporations’ completion of specified, prosecution-oriented, internal investigations of employee misconduct. While courts readily find state action when the government formally delegates investigative functions, they have not squarely addressed whether corporate investigations undertaken to secure prosecutorial leniency—without explicit governmental direction—should likewise trigger state-action scrutiny. United States v. Coburn illustrates the blind spot: by insisting that state action requires overt governmental direction and control, the decision exposes a fundamental failure to appreciate how the government can embed investigative mandates within the …
