Goatsrue (Galega Officinalis) Identification And Management In Pastures And Croplands, Jacob Hadfield, Corey Ransom, Cody Zesiger, Clark Israelsen
All Current Publications
Goatsrue is an aggressive invasive plant and a declared Utah state noxious weed (Category 1B). It was introduced into the Cache Valley in 1891 and spread through the irrigation canals, streams, and rivers of the Bear River drainage. Cache County has one of the largest goatsrue infestations in the nation. Luckily, only small infestations are found in neighboring counties (Box Elder, Rich, Weber, and Davis). Goatsrue’s rapid growth, prolific seed production, and ability to spread quickly through waterways make it a problem and concern for many residents of Cache County. Properly identifying and managing goatsrue can help reduce the size …
A Comparison Of Financial And Residential Quality Of Life By Housing Provision In Taiwan, Chia-Hang Hsu
A Comparison Of Financial And Residential Quality Of Life By Housing Provision In Taiwan, Chia-Hang Hsu
Theses and Dissertations
This is a study about the relationship in Taiwan between housing provision (homeowner, family-owned, rented, allotted, or other) and quality of life (both financial & residential quality of life), with separate analyses for the average Taiwanese household and for households in the bottom decile of the income distribution. This thesis finds that Taiwanese renters, both in the nationally representative sample and in the bottom decile of household income, are more likely to have a lower financial and residential quality of life compared to those living as homeowners, even after controlling for income, family type, and age of household head. Also, …

A Systematic Multiscale Investigation Of Nanoparticle-Assisted Co2 Enhanced Oil Recovery (Eor) Process For Shale Oil Reservoirs, Dayo A. Afekare
LSU Doctoral Dissertations
Shale oil reservoirs are prolific on the short term due to hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling but experience significant production decline, leading to poor ultimate recovery and leaving billions of barrels of oil buried in the ground. In this study, a systematic multi-scale investigation of an enhanced oil recovery (EOR) process using relatively inexpensive silicon dioxide nanoparticles and carbon dioxide for shale oil reservoirs was conducted. Using the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale (TMS) as a case study, aqueous dispersions of nanosilica in conjunction with CO2 were investigated at nano-to-core scales. At the nanoscale, atomic force microscope was used to investigate …
The Perceived Importance And Ability Of Secondary Agricultural Education Teachers Regarding Accommodating Students With Exceptionalities: A Mixed Methods Study, Raegan Ramage
LSU Master's Theses
Each year, the number of students who have a documented disability in public schools in the U.S. has increased. However, SBAE instructors continue to identify a lack of confidence when teaching students with exceptionalities. This lack of confidence is exacerbated by a lack of professional development opportunities and preservice training offered by teacher preparation programs regarding teaching students with special needs. To better understand this complex issue, this mixed methods investigation sought to describe Louisiana SBAE instructors’ previous educational experiences focused on accommodating students with special needs and describe their desired professional development opportunities regarding accommodating students with special needs. …
Mapping Louisiana's Missing: Spatiotemporal Profiling Of Louisiana's Missing Persons- An Experimental Application Of Geographic Information Systems And Forensic Anthropology, Liam J. Johnson
LSU Master's Theses
The growing number of unresolved unidentified and missing persons cases in the United States is this nation’s ‘silent mass disaster’ (Ritters, 2007). In addition to contextualizing biocultural traits of these cases, forensic anthropologists are uniquely qualified to address this underrecognized humanitarian crisis due to their proven ability to bridge conflicting stakeholders in often complex sociopolitical environments and to create improved opportunities for community collaboration. This project explores local and state demographic trends of missing persons cases and how this information can be used to assist investigative agencies with their missing population, analyzes gaps in identification data, and selects optimal locations …
Experienced And Inexperienced Listeners' Perception Of Childrens' /L/ Productions And Their Acoustic Correlates, Emily A. Coniglio
Experienced And Inexperienced Listeners' Perception Of Childrens' /L/ Productions And Their Acoustic Correlates, Emily A. Coniglio
LSU Master's Theses
The phoneme /l/ is one of the highly misarticulated sounds for young children. Referrals for articulation are often based on a listener’s perception of the problem. The aim of the current study was to examine three listener groups’ perception of word-initial /l/ produced by young children to understand if level of experience with child speech impacts listeners’ perception on /l/. The three groups were separated based on their years of experience: speech-language pathologists with at least 10 years of experience (SLP group), graduate students in speech-language pathology (GS group), and naive listeners with no clinical phonetics experience (NL group). Specifically, …
Effects Of Microtubule Stabilizing And Recovery Agents On Vitrified Bovine Oocytes, Emily Dzekunskas
Effects Of Microtubule Stabilizing And Recovery Agents On Vitrified Bovine Oocytes, Emily Dzekunskas
LSU Master's Theses
Oocyte vitrification, while beneficial for research and species conservation, has limited success due to cryoinjury to the meiotic spindle. This study aimed to evaluate treatments to improve meiotic spindle recovery after vitrification by treating bovine oocytes with either a microtubule stabilizing agent, or a microtubule recovery agent. In the first two experiments, Taxol and epothilone B were used to treat bovine oocytes before vitrification. Both compounds have microtubule stabilizing properties and are known antimitotic compounds commonly used in cancer treatment. Oocytes were incubated with one of the microtubule stabilizing agents for 15 minutes before vitrification at one of three concentrations …

Network issues can affect the quality of audio and video for online collaboration sessions, which can result in participants missing important parts of speech. Current collaboration tools often provide closed captioning (CC) options, however, captioning is typically not automatically started on bandwidth issues and, further, captioning is often generated in the cloud with no guarantee that the original stream is received intact by meeting participants. Presented herein are techniques to address these issues by providing a collaboration service that facilitates real-time Dynamic Captioning. In the event of network issues during an online meeting, at either the speaker end or the …

Intent-Based Networking From The Iot Edge To The Application Server, Tim Szigeti, Robert Barton, Jerome Henry, Dave Zacks
Defensive Publications Series
The dynamic management of traffic within an operational technology (OT) network raises a number of challenges. To address those types of challenges, techniques are presented herein that enable end-to-end intent-based networking to control access between the OT domain and on-premise or cloud-based data center (DC) domains. Aspects of the presented techniques employ deep packet inspection (DPI) of industrial protocols within the OT domain (e.g. by sensors) and map Internet of Things (IoT) devices and traffic flows to abstract tags (through, e.g. a robust security facility), export such tags to a common policy server that bridges both domains, assign the IoT …
Symposium: Examining Black Citizenship From Reconstruction To Black Lives Matter: Rhetoric And Nostalgia In The Criminal Justice Reform Movement, Michael Gentithes
Symposium: Examining Black Citizenship From Reconstruction To Black Lives Matter: Rhetoric And Nostalgia In The Criminal Justice Reform Movement, Michael Gentithes
ConLawNOW
Today’s movement for criminal justice reform and its attendant "defund the police" slogan contain nuanced calls to redirect public funds in ways that will both control crime and support downtrodden neighborhoods. But the language in those calls can easily be misinterpreted. Such poor messaging misleads both the movement’s members and the public in two important ways. First, it repeats many of the mistakes made by protest anthems of the past. For too many Americans enduring today’s all-too-real dystopia, calls to defund sound like calls to anarchy, not arguments for peaceable, sensible reforms. Second, defunding rhetoric contains an element of historical …

Clinicians From Marginalized Backgrounds: Epistemic Discrimination In Training And Practice, Sahar Al-Najjar, Prabha Kaundinya
Graduate Research Symposium
While the majority of psychological literature has assumed the professional’s dominant group membership, very little attention has been paid to the perspectives and preparation of clinicians who themselves hail from marginalized or stigmatized backgrounds. We are exploring how this discrimination and inequities manifests early on in the training and impacts the service delivery of minority background professionals. We wish to critique the preparation and support that these professionals receive in providing culturally competent care to their clients from diverse backgrounds. As graduate students in psychological education, and clinicians identifying from culturally diverse backgrounds – we’re are presenting this abstract on …

Paranoia defines a culture, particularly the American. Since WWII (1939-45), it became an inevitable thought structure in the USA community. Most of the postmodern American novelists’ interest in paranoia is due to its relevance to everyday life anxieties and horrors. Since WWII, an extraordinary number of writers have used expressions of paranoia to present the influence of postwar technologies, social organisations, and communication systems on human beings. Writers as different as Ralph Ellison, William S. Burroughs, Joseph Heller, Margaret Atwood, Kurt Vonnegut, Thomas Pynchon, Joan Didion, Kathy Acker, and Don DeLillo have depicted individuals nervous about the ways large organisations …

Fraternity system was one of the foundations by the Messenger of Allah to build a city, and was a viable solution to the problem of immigrants who left their homes and their money and emigrated to Medina, and included three sections:
The first topic: the general foundations of brotherhood established by Islam to be the linkage among the faithful, which exceeded the limits of time and space, has been belief, love and loyalty, and I talked about the brotherhood in Mecca, and likely subsequent leveling of the impact of installing the faith, and continued advocacy, and empowerment of companionship, and …

Modeling And Analysis Of Nonstationary Gas Filtration Under Gas Dynamic Parameters Variation, N Ravshanov, Elmira Nazirova
Bulletin of TUIT: Management and Communication Technologies
A mathematical model that describes a partial differential equation with boundary, internal and initial conditions was developed in the article, to study the gas-dynamic parameters of the gas filtration process in a porous medium under isothermal conditions. The study was performed based on the reviews of research works related to mathematical modeling in recent years. Computational experiments (CE) were conducted on a computer to determine the response of the main parameters on the process of gas filtration in a porous medium on the basis of the developed mathematical tool (model, numerical algorithm, and software). The results of numerical calculations were …
