Specificities Of Aortic Stenosis In Women – From Diagnosis To Management, Yasser Harb, Fadi Tohme, Hadi Ossaili, Karim Halabi, Ali Kanso, Elie Chammas, Samer Nasr, Mohammad Tahini, Nicole Karam
Saudi Medical Journal
Aortic stenosis (AS) is the most common valvular heart disease worldwide, with pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and management differing widely according to sex. Women demonstrate predominantly fibrotic valve modifications and less calcifications for given hemodynamic severity, with left ventricular concentric hypertrophy and smaller cavity size leading to a higher prevalence of paradoxical low-flow, low-gradient AS. These sex differences are modulated by hormonal changes, inflammatory and metabolic pathways, as well as genetic and epigenetic regulators. Atypical symptoms and hemodynamic specificities on echocardiography all combine to create diagnostic challenges that contribute to delayed recognition and intervention. Multimodality imaging, particularly the use of sex-specific …

Cardiac arrhythmias represent a significant clinical concern that have been always addressed. Moreover, Pregnancy introduces profound hormonal, autonomic, and hemodynamic changes that add more risk to cardiac patients and increase arrhythmia susceptibility. In our continent, Africa, there is an added risk because of the high prevalence of rheumatic heart disease, peripartum cardiomyopathy, and limited access to healthcare, contributing to adverse maternal and fetal outcomes. This article addresses the epidemics, mechanisms, and management of arrhythmias during pregnancy in African settings, highlighting high-yield real-life cases. We focus on guideline-based management strategies, emphasizing fetal safety, and discuss unique regional challenges, including limited access …

Women’S Cardiovascular Health In 2025: Advancements Achieved, Challenges Ahead, Jamilah S. Alrahimi
Saudi Medical Journal
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death among women globally. Recognition of sex-specific risk factors, pathophysiology, and clinical presentations has established women's cardiovascular health as a research and clinical priority. Pregnancy complications, premature menopause, and autoimmune disease, are now identified as long-term contributors to cardiovascular risk, while female-predominant syndromes such as ischemia with non-obstructive coronary arteries and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction are increasingly acknowledged. Novel therapies and updated guidelines emphasize psychosocial determinants, reproductive history, and postpartum risk assessment in prevention and management. Despite these advances, women remain underdiagnosed, undertreated, and underrepresented in clinical trials. Diagnostic delays …

Sleep Disorder Phenotypes And The Risk Of Incident Heart Failure: A Meta-Analysis With Mendelian Randomization Validation, Fang Yan, Lihua Fan, Yunhu Chen
Saudi Medical Journal
Objectives: To quantify how specific sleep-disorder phenotypes are related to incident heart failure (HF) using a meta-analysis of cohort data and to probe causal relevance via 2-sample Mendelian randomization (MR). Methods: Fourteen cohorts comprised of participants without HF at baseline were pooled (49,501 exposed; 337,317 controls). A random effects meta-analysis produced pooled hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). A bidirectional two-sample MR was used to evaluate the causal effects of sleep phenotypes on HF. Results: Overall, sleep disorders were linked to a higher incidence of HF (pooled HR 1.46; 95% CI 1.30–1.63; pp < 0.001), whereas insomnia was not independently associated with HF (pooled HR 1.11; 95% CI 0.75–1.62; p = 0.609). Premature Narrative Closure And Drift In Recursive Multi-Agent Reasoning Systems, Thom Pham
Premature Narrative Closure And Drift In Recursive Multi-Agent Reasoning Systems, Thom Pham
Defensive Publications Series
While experimenting with recursive reasoning systems composed of multiple agents exchanging intermediate beliefs, a recurring structural behavior was observed. Even when outputs remained syntactically valid and deterministic decoding was used, belief reinforcement cycles sometimes produced premature narrative closure before any explicit error appeared. Once such closure occurred, later perturbations could propagate and amplify through the recursive interaction loop. This note describes the phenomenon and proposes a simple stability principle governing epistemic authority in recursive reasoning systems.
Addendum No. 5: Fog Integration, Vesa Olavi Lius
Addendum No. 5: Fog Integration, Vesa Olavi Lius
Defensive Publications Series
Abstract
Addendum 4 analysed ALLFROMAIR® system performance under clear-sky conditions using passive radiative cooling. A critical operational extension is fog — a phenomenon occurring several hours per day across a wide range of climates, including coastal deserts. During fog periods, the wire-forest electrode structure already present in the system functions directly as a high-efficiency fog collector, while the DEP field actively directs droplets toward the electrode surface and vibration-desorption ensures continuous drainage.
Calculations show that ALLFROMAIR® v2 achieves 0.26–0.97 L/m²/h during fog periods (Q = η × LWC_median × v × 3.6, η = 0.72), compared with 0.07–0.35 L/m²/h for …

Addendum No. 4: Radiative Hybrid Cooling, Vesa Olavi Lius
Defensive Publications Series
Abstract
This addendum introduces a critical architectural extension of the ALLFROMAIR® system: the integration of passive radiative cooling directly into the electrode structure. Analysis of the original wire-forest configuration demonstrated that the Modified Kelvin-Thomson (MKT) effect at operational field strengths (E ≈ 1.67 MV/m) produces a vapour-pressure reduction of approximately 0.0007% — insufficient as the sole condensation driving force in sub-saturated air. The solution presented here is to supply a temperature gradient through passive infrared radiative cooling of the electrode surface, requiring no moving parts and consuming no electrical energy.
Calculations demonstrate that a SiO₂/HfO₂ selective radiative coating on an …

A General Predictive And Conceptual Model For Repulsive Electronic States In Valence Ionized Molecules, Luka Dockx, Bálint Sztáray, Anthony Dutoi
College of the Pacific Faculty Articles
Valence photoionization generates photoions with excess internal energy, often resulting in statistical dissociation, well described by RRKM theory. Yet, numerous small photoions with electronegative substituents (e.g., F, Cl, Br, OH) have been shown to exhibit nonstatistical behavior, undergoing direct dissociation from repulsive electronic states to yield radicals such as F• or OH•, along with their corresponding fragment ions. Here, we present a general, predictive model that rationalizes this mechanism and extends it to molecules bearing electronegative substituents capable of forming 2P (F•, Cl•, Br•) or 2Π (OH•, SH•, N3•, NCO•) radicals. Nonstatistical dissociation arises from ionization of p- or π-localized …

Lived Experiences Of Texas Construction Workers Reporting Near Misses On Their Jobsite, Joaquin Manuel Diaz
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Near miss incidents in the construction industry, when reported, serve as critical indicators of safety performance. When reported, organizations can identify hazards early and reduce the incidence of injuries and illnesses. Limited research exists on how construction workers perceive near miss incidents and how they are influenced to report them. Semi-structured audio-recorded interviews with 15 Texas-based construction workers in three cities about their lived experiences with near-miss reporting were conducted between July 18 and August 22, 2025. Data were organized using NVivo software and analyzed according to the phenomenological procedures outlined by Burns et al. and the qualitative analysis guidance …

Παράδοσις: A Comparative Analysis Of Paul And Oneness Pentecostals, John Calvin Carroll
Masters Theses
Tradition is an inescapable element of institutional life, including religious institutions. Traditions inevitably emerge whether in churches, corporations, families, or nations. Within the Christian faith, the critical issue is not the presence of tradition, but the authority and function ascribed to it. This study concerns itself with the role of tradition in both individual and communal expressions of Christianity. Traditions can foster cohesion and identity within Christian communities. However, their specific forms often vary across cultural contexts—for instance, between churches in North America and other continents worldwide.
