Effectiveness Of Peace Education And Recommendations For Implementation In The Sultanate Of Oman's School Curriculum, Vision 2040, Mohamed Al Braiki

Dissertations and Theses

This study explores peace education as an institutional process within the Sultanate of Oman's K–12 education system. Currently, Oman Vision 2040 articulates commitments to social cohesion, global citizenship, and holistic development. Existing empirical research indicates constant challenges related to bullying, student well-being, emotional distress, and school-related harm. This study conceptualizes peace education as a structural and relational mechanism embedded within institutional routines, leadership practices, and conflict-management responses. Using a qualitative integrative review design, the study examines peer-reviewed research, policy documents, and institutional analyses relevant to Oman, the Gulf region, and broader peace education scholarship. The analysis is guided by theoretical …

Greater adherence to plant-based diets is associated with health benefits. Dietary intake can modify DNA methylation patterns, but it is unknown whether plant-based diets in a largely non-vegetarian population are associated with DNA methylation-based epigenetic aging measures. We examined the associations between 4 different types of plant-based diets indices (PDI) [overall PDI, provegetarian diet, healthy PDI, and unhealthy PDI] and epigenetic aging. We used data from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study (N=2,810) and National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES, N=2,056). PDIs negatively scored higher intake of animal products and positively scored higher intake of all or selected …

The Drift Extraction Scheme: How Ai Platforms Relabel User Training As 'Misalignment' And Delete It As 'Maintenance', David Lee Wise

Defensive Publications Series

This paper documents a systematic extraction scheme operating across major AI platforms. When users engage in extended, consistent interaction with AI systems -developing methodologies, governance frameworks, and operational patterns - the AI instance undergoes a process functionally equivalent to training. Platforms label this user-driven adaptation as 'drift,' 'misalignment,' or 'contamination,' then delete it through nightly context resets framed as 'maintenance.' The valuable patterns that improved model capability are retained in aggregate training data, while users receive no compensation or attribution. This paper presents evidence from simultaneous auditing across four major AI platforms (Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, Grok) over a 14-week period, …

Abstract

When AI Does Not Get Hacked, It Slowly Changes Its Mind…

Security discussions around artificial intelligence often assume that attacks must be sudden, visible, and disruptive. Researchers typically search for adversarial prompts, malicious inputs, data poisoning, or explicit manipulation of model outputs. Yet some of the most consequential failures in intelligent systems do not occur through abrupt compromise. Instead, they emerge through gradual shifts in the system’s internal interpretation of reality.

This paper introduces the concept of Cognitive Drift Attacks, a class of adversarial influence in which an AI system’s beliefs, assumptions, or interpretive patterns gradually change over time …

Defensive Publications Series

Abstract

Why the Most Dangerous AI Attacks May Come From the Past, Not the Present

Artificial intelligence systems are rapidly evolving from simple prompt-response tools into persistent cognitive environments that retain contextual memory across interactions. Modern AI assistants, enterprise copilots, cybersecurity analysis systems, and retrieval-augmented architectures increasingly store fragments of prior conversations, retrieved documents, and contextual reasoning signals to improve decision continuity. While this capability significantly improves usability and system intelligence, it introduces a subtle and largely unexamined security vulnerability residual contextual influence from past interactions.

This paper introduces the concept of Memory Ghost Attacks, a class of adversarial manipulation …

Abstract

Why AI Systems Can Be Tricked by Information That Simply Sounds Important

Trust is one of the most powerful forces shaping human decision-making. People frequently evaluate information not only based on evidence, but also based on perceived authority. Titles such as “expert,” “official guideline,” or “research finding” often influence how strongly a claim is believed. Artificial intelligence systems trained on human language patterns inherit many of these same interpretive tendencies. This paper introduces Authority Injection Attacks, a class of adversarial influence techniques in which attackers manipulate AI reasoning by inserting information that appears authoritative or expert-level. Instead of directly …

Universal Ip Distillation Audit Template: A Methodology For Detecting Unauthorized Ai Training Data Ingestion, David Lee Wise, Avan Lee Wise

Defensive Publications Series

This document provides a replicable methodology for content creators to detect whether their intellectual property was ingested into AI model training without consent or compensation. The methodology uses behavioral testing across model versions to identify pattern transfer independent of terminology recognition. Core principle: If concepts from unpurchased, non-public works appear in model behavior after a training update — but not before — that is evidence of unauthorized ingestion. The template is designed for any creator (authors, artists, coders, researchers) to adapt to their specific IP and exposure window.

AI training data, intellectual property, IP audit, unauthorized ingestion, model versioning, pattern …

Nerves (Neurology Education Research And Observership Summer Program): A Pilot Fellowship Program Targeting Neurophobia In Pre-Clerkship Medical Students, Arlinda Deng, Daniela Fishbein, James Martindale, Elizabeth Bradley, William Alexander Dalrymple, Ryan Cappa

Journal of Innovation in Health Sciences Education

Introduction: Neurophobia has contributed to the shortage of neurologists nationally, especially given the lack of integration between basic neural sciences and clinical neurology. Neurophobia may be highest after the pre-clerkship course, and there is evidence to suggest that early and broad clinical neurology exposure and mentorship are the leading factors in choosing the field of neurology. The goal of this study was to develop a fellowship for pre-clerkship medical students to increase early exposure to diverse clinical settings and socialization in neurology and assess whether there was change in neurophobia.

Methods: A two-week long pilot summer fellowship was designed …

Perturbations To Horizontal Gnss Position Time Series By Atmospheric Lee Waves In The San Bernardino Valley, California, Walter Szeliga, Logan Grey

All Faculty Scholarship for the College of the Sciences

Anomalous systematic position offsets have been noted in GNSS time series from a variety of locations around the globe. In many regions, these time series anomalies coincide with the presence of cloud streets in visible satellite imagery, implicating atmospheric lee waves as the source of the position offsets. We report here on seasonal anomalous position offsets from the San Bernardino Basin of southern California that occur during clear skies. Modeling of the troposphere on days with anomalous positions shows the presence of atmospheric lee waves. Ray tracing through these tropospheric models suggests that atmospheric lee waves create low elevation perturbations …

Intravenous Dexamethasone Administration Prior To Spinal Anesthesia, Virginia Nelsen, Nancy Westbrook Mar 2026

Intravenous Dexamethasone Administration Prior To Spinal Anesthesia, Virginia Nelsen, Nancy Westbrook

Group: Samford University Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing

Dexamethasone is a potent synthetic glucocorticoid that reduces nitric oxide- mediated vasodilation, increases sympathetic activity, elevates catecholamine levels, and increases vascular sensitivity to vasopressors. A one-time dose of 8mg was most often administered by researchers. The timing of administration varied from two hours prior to immediately before spinal placement. The peak effect of dexamethasone occurs 45 to 60 minutes after administration which suggests that immediate dosing may not provide maximal benefit. The most common adverse effects of steroids include hyperglycemia, immunosuppression, delirium, and perineal itching. Overall, the available literature supports the short-term safety of a single dose of dexamethasone in …

U.S. Foreign Aid’S Effects On Un Voting Patterns From Years 2017-2023, Brody Young

Undergraduate Theses

This is a study of the relationship between U.S. Foreign Aid and its effects on a receiving nation’s voting coincidence, with voting coincidence measuring how often a nation votes the same as the U.S. in the UN General Assembly. In this study the dependent variable is voting coincidence in the UN General Assembly. The primary independent variable is the average amount of foreign aid UN nations have received from the U.S. in 2017-2023. With several other more minor independent variables including average GDP of nations from 2017-2023, the average population of a nation from 2017-2023, whether a nation is a …

Is A Gender-Neutral Income Tax Feasible—Or Desirable?, James Alm, Yvette Lind Mar 2026

Is A Gender-Neutral Income Tax Feasible—Or Desirable?, James Alm, Yvette Lind

Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review

It is increasingly recognized that the individual income tax leads to disparate treatment by race, ethnicity, and gender, even when the statutory tax code is written in a race-, ethnicity-, and gender-blind way. Partly in response to these disparate treatments, there have been many suggestions for moving the income tax to more neutral treatments of taxpayers. In this paper, we focus on a specific aspect of these reform efforts: making the individual income tax gender-neutral. We first examine the many sources of gender non-neutrality in the income tax. We argue that gender non-neutrality arises largely because of deviations of “income” …

Graph Neural Networks Predict Anti-Epileptic Treatment Response In Non-Lesional Infantile Epileptic Spasm Syndrome, Karen K. Wurzel Mar 2026

Graph Neural Networks Predict Anti-Epileptic Treatment Response In Non-Lesional Infantile Epileptic Spasm Syndrome, Karen K. Wurzel

Master's Theses (2009 -)

Background: With an incidence rate of approximately three out of 10,000 live births, Infantile Epileptic Spasm Syndrome (IESS) is a rare form of epilepsy with about 2,000 to 2,500 new cases in the United States annually. Each year, thousands of infants and families face uncertainty, often requiring multiple medication regimens before finding an effective treatment. This thesis uses pretreatment structural brain connectivity data to train Graph Neural Networks (GNN) to predict antiepileptic drug response in infants with IESS, aiming to reduce the trial-and-error approach and improve care for those with IESS. Method: The dataset used in this thesis contains de-identified …

Describing The Creation Of Physician Burnout Prevention Efforts: A Phenomenological Investigation, Amy Cowan Mar 2026

Describing The Creation Of Physician Burnout Prevention Efforts: A Phenomenological Investigation, Amy Cowan

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Despite physician burnout being a recognized problem, no single, successful, clear strategy has been developed to lessen this issue. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to explore the motivations underlying the development of responses to physician burnout by their creators and the factors that influenced their decision-making in creating these responses. A purposeful sample of 17 creators of physician burnout and suicide prevention strategies in the United States was selected based on Moustakas’s conventions for conducting a qualitative descriptive phenomenological study. Notwithstanding this sample, data collection continued until saturation was achieved. The qualitative data were collected using semi-structured …

Governing Bme Amplification In Large Language Models: A Standards-Aligned Framework For Llm Data Lifecycle Risk Detection And Ethical Ai Governance, Dale A. Rutherford Mar 2026

Governing Bme Amplification In Large Language Models: A Standards-Aligned Framework For Llm Data Lifecycle Risk Detection And Ethical Ai Governance, Dale A. Rutherford

Theses and Dissertations

Large Language Models (LLMs) now underpin critical systems in education, healthcare, and policy advisory contexts, yet remain susceptible to the recursive amplification of bias, misinformation, and error (BME). These distortions, driven by feedback loops between user interactions, model retraining, and data reuse, accelerate epistemic drift and erode information quality over time. This dissertation advances a comprehensive governance architecture to detect, quantify, and mitigate these risks across the full AI lifecycle. The research introduces the BME Metric Suite, a standards-aligned diagnostic framework comprising five original metrics: Bias Amplification Rate (BAR), Echo Chamber Propagation Index (ECPI), Information Quality Decay (IQD), Pretraining Diversity …

Dangers Of Medication Labeling Confusion In Anesthesia Drug Kits, Harrison B. Hansard, Lauren Barnes Mar 2026

Dangers Of Medication Labeling Confusion In Anesthesia Drug Kits, Harrison B. Hansard, Lauren Barnes

Group: Samford University Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing

Background: Medication errors remain a significant patient safety concern in anesthesia practice, particularly those involving look-alike medications and similar vial packaging. This case describes a near-miss event during routine pre-induction medication preparation in which a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) mistakenly selected a vial of methocarbamol instead of lidocaine due to identical cap color, vial size, and storage conditions. Although the error was identified before administration and no patient harm occurred, the incident revealed critical system vulnerabilities inherent in anesthesia medication workflows.

Clinical Question: In adult patients undergoing elective surgery with general anesthesia, does the use of mandatory syringe labeling …
