How To Transform The Concertgoers To The City Explorers:The Case Study Of Jincheng Rock Music Festival, Ruiling Liu

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Music festivals are recognized as key drivers of local tourism and cultural engagement. They offer immersive cultural experiences and stimulate local economies, but attendees often focus mainly on the event itself. This study examines how to convert festival audiences into “city explorers” at the Jincheng Rock Music Festival, addressing attendee perceptions and post-event tourism. We collected public comments from Douyin and Xiaohongshu (leading Chinese social media platforms) and applied text-mining techniques (sentiment analysis and topic modeling) to analyze thousands of comments. After cleaning the data, we extracted key topics (transportation, lodging, local attractions) and quantified sentiment polarity to identify audience …

Museums In The Digital Age : Social Media At The Bangkok National Museum, Yueling Lan

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Quantitative results show that audiences hold highly positive cognitive and emotional evaluations of BNM’s Facebook and Instagram content, particularly its educational and cultural value; however, behavioral intentions, including interaction, recommendation, and cultural product purchase, remain comparatively low. Regression analysis further indicates that emotional resonance and brand perception, rather than knowledge acquisition alone, …

Storytelling In Traditional Ips And Consumer Engagement : A Case Study Of Blackmyth:Wukong, Yuqing Liu

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

This study investigates how storytelling elements within a traditional cultural intellectual property (IP) drive consumer engagement in the global context. Using Black Myth: Wukong—a modern adaptation of Journey to the West—as the central case, the research examines how plot, character, and verisimilitude influence the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral dimensions of player engagement.A hybrid thematic analysis of 431 comments from Bilibili and YouTube reveals that narrative components activate engagement through distinct mechanisms: plot induces a cognitive–affective–behavioral loop, characters trigger emotional–behavioral transformation, and verisimilitude creates a cognition–behavior bridge. Crucially, cultural background moderates these processes. Chinese players engage through cultural proximity, collective memory, …

Healing Communities With Police Divestment: Seeking Abolition Through Transformative Reform And Community-Government Collaboration, Jessica E. Gillson

Undergraduate Honors Theses

Concerns about the efficacy and sustainability of the U.S. carceral system have persisted throughout the country’s history, recently fueling renewed activism and bipartisan calls for reform. However, proposed solutions remain divisive. This thesis first defines the current status of our prison systems, then explores collaborative alternatives to incarceration and policing that support communities and break cycles of incarceration.

Focusing on partnerships among local governments, community organizations, justice-involved individuals, and law enforcement, this study examines holistic approaches to crime prevention, reentry, and reintegration. Using an interdisciplinary framework incorporating restorative justice, community resilience, and systems theory, it investigates how community-based strategies can …

Te Kaitiakitanga O Ngā Tūpuna: Restructuring Repatriation And Globalizing Decolonial Indigeneity, Kailee A. Hall Jan 2025

Te Kaitiakitanga O Ngā Tūpuna: Restructuring Repatriation And Globalizing Decolonial Indigeneity, Kailee A. Hall

Undergraduate Honors Theses

Preserving cultural heritage through repatriation has admittedly worked against Indigenous communities because museums have maintained a system of control over their belongings and have fractured their trust in partnerships. Repatriation is the process by which Indigenous belongings, land, and people are returned, and must be decolonized into a system of support within museums’ institutional structures. The aim of this thesis is to analyze how the institutional mechanisms for repatriation are ineffective and offer a new framework to be globalized and accessible. While decolonial theories and methods act as a lens, Māori educationalist Graham Hingangaroa Smith’s Kaupapa Māori is a theoretical …

Self-Compassion And Law Student Professional Identity Formation, Janice Craft Jan 2025

Self-Compassion And Law Student Professional Identity Formation, Janice Craft

Law Faculty Publications

The American Bar Association’s Standards for Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar require law schools to provide students with “substantial opportunities” for “[t]he development of a professional identity.” The Standards do not require a particular curriculum or mode of instruction but offer two guideposts for legal educators: one, that “professional identity focuses on what it means to be a lawyer and the special obligations lawyers have to their clients and society,” and two, that professional formation “should involve an intentional exploration of the values, guiding principles, and well-being practices considered foundational to successful legal practice.” The guidance and concomitant …

Reputation Reconsidered, James Gibson Jan 2025

Reputation Reconsidered, James Gibson

Law Faculty Publications

Reputation has a great reputation. We know this because the law values, venerates, and subsidizes reputation in many ways. Contract law relies on it as a means of disciplining the market without the need for intrusive regulation. Defamation law lets individuals and businesses seek relief when their reputations are sullied. Trademark law grants exclusive rights in order to encourage rightsholders to invest in their reputations. In these fields and others, the law views reputation as an important, socially positive good.

This faith in the integrity and value of reputation is unwarranted. Our impression of any given business is subject to …

Qualified Immunity & Subjective Knowledge, John F. Preis Jan 2025

Qualified Immunity & Subjective Knowledge, John F. Preis

Law Faculty Publications

There is something weird going on within the doctrine of qualified immunity. The Supreme Court and lower courts routinely claim that officers who “knowingly violate the law” are not entitled to qualified immunity, but then—in almost the same breath—assert that an officer’s knowledge of the law is irrelevant to the qualified immunity analysis. What is even more strange is that these two opposing views can apparently be traced to the foundational case in the field: Harlow v. Fitzgerald.

This Article explores and proposes a resolution to this apparent contradiction. Beginning with Harlow itself, the Article explores the case using the …

Rejected From Pastoral Leadership: A Phenomenological Study Of The Voice And Lived Experiences Of African American Pentecostal Women In Clergy, Cynthia Ann Hurns

Dissertations

The study explored the lived experiences of 10 African American Holiness-Pentecostal clergywomen who faced rejection in a predominantly male-led church system. These women shared detailed stories of their experiences in leadership as pastors, apostles, and co-pastors. A qualitative phenomenological methodology was employed, using interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) because it allows for in-depth exploration of how people make sense of their experiences, aligning with the study’s focus on leadership journeys. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed through descriptive and iterative coding. Codes were grouped into broader categories, resulting in five emerging themes: voiceless calling, bound to tradition, call from …

Web Of Exploitation: The Psychological Need For Comprehensive Federal Law To Combat Cyber Sexual Abuse, Sarah E. Bahrenburg Jan 2025

Web Of Exploitation: The Psychological Need For Comprehensive Federal Law To Combat Cyber Sexual Abuse, Sarah E. Bahrenburg

Journal of Race, Gender, and Ethnicity

Cyber sexual abuse inflicts deep and lasting psychological harm on victims, often exacerbating the trauma of traditional sexual abuse due to the permanence and reach of digital content. Survivors may experience depression, anxiety, PTSD, and suicidal ideation as intimate images, videos, or messages resurface indefinitely online. Despite the severity of its impact, current state and federal legal protections are limited and inconsistent, leaving many victims without adequate criminal or civil remedies. This article argues for the creation of comprehensive federal legislation specifically targeting cyber sexual abuse. Such laws would not only provide clearer paths to justice and accountability but also …
