Life Writing Knowledge And Narrative Medicine : Creating The Transnational Self, Alfred Hornung Jun 2026

Life Writing Knowledge And Narrative Medicine : Creating The Transnational Self, Alfred Hornung

SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism

Poetry and narration are among the most distinctive expressions of lifewriting. Poetic and narrative representations of the self, often associated with discrimination and disease, have got a psychotherapeutic effect. Ideally, collaborating agents in life- writing and narrative would produce a kind of societal knowledge with a global dimension, transcending the individual selfawareness, creating thus a framework for a would-be social integration. This paper is concerned with Audre Lorde’s poetic and narrative report on breast cancer, preceding her years in Berlin as a visiting professor in the 1980s, when her own experience as a “black lesbian poet or feminist lover” testified …

Therefore, this literary work aims at proposing some answers to some questions such as the meanings of the Self and the Other within postcolonial theory and the different manifestations of both the Self and the Other. This article did not deal with this literary work as a postcolonial novel but as an autobiographical narrative. So, …

Imagination, Identity And The Poetics Of Explosion In The Work Of Khair-Eddine, Mohammed Benaziz Jun 2026

Imagination, Identity And The Poetics Of Explosion In The Work Of Khair-Eddine, Mohammed Benaziz

SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism

Abstract: In this article, we consider the question of the imaginary in literature from a poetic and anthropological perspective by trying to show the relationships between the two dimensions in the French-speaking Maghrebian text of Mohammed Khair Eddine. The notion of the imaginary sometimes intrigues, but we aim here to limit its meanings in order to channel its significance. According to Jean-Paul Sartre, the imaginary is “the projection of a mental image onto an object”. In this sense, we can understand that imagination is not reality but the relationship of an imaging consciousness to an imagined object. In the context …

Accounting And Economic System Classification: An Adverse Effect Of The Misconceptualization Of Capital, Henry Zeno Chalu Jun 2026

Accounting And Economic System Classification: An Adverse Effect Of The Misconceptualization Of Capital, Henry Zeno Chalu

Business Management Review

This paper discusses the influence of accounting on economic system classification. Particularly, it traces how a misconception of the accounting term ‘capital’ led to a misleading characterization of capitalism and socialism as inherently oppositional economic systems. This misunderstanding stems from neglect of the two complementary modes of thought on which accounting as a science rests: reasoning, which is the conceptual, idealistic dimension, and proving, which is the technical, physicalist dimension. Both modes are integral to the construction of most of the accounting terms used in economics. If an accounting conceptualization had been followed, capitalism and socialism would not …

Study On Calculation Method For Incremental Launching Based On Nonlinear Analysis, Mo Shanfeng, Huang Cailiang, Qin Hui

Journal of China & Foreign Highway

In view of the shortcomings of traditional incremental launching calculation methods and the assembly construction control of incremental launching beams, an incremental launching calculation method based on nonlinear analysis was proposed in this paper. This method could truly simulate the running state where the incremental launching pier remains stationary, and the beam moves forward. The assembly alignment of all segments of the beam and the real alignment of the beam under specified working conditions could be directly output. The prefabricated alignment of the main beam (i.e., unstressed alignment) did not need to be consistent with the slide alignment. When the …

A Communication-Aware Game-Theoretic Coordination Framework For Distributed Pump Stations In Pipeline Systems, David A. Brattley, Wayne W. Weaver Jun 2026

A Communication-Aware Game-Theoretic Coordination Framework For Distributed Pump Stations In Pipeline Systems, David A. Brattley, Wayne W. Weaver

Michigan Tech Publications

In large-scale fluid transport systems, distributed pump and valve stations must coordinate their operations to prevent overpressure while minimizing energy use and control effort. This paper presents a communication-aware, game-theoretic coordination framework in which stations act as rational agents that iteratively adjust operating setpoints based on locally computed utilities. Existing station-level pressure controllers regulate local pressures and flows, while a slower supervisory negotiation layer governs inter-station coordination using steady-state hydraulic surrogates derived from pump affinity laws and pipeline loss relationships. The proposed framework does not rely on centralized optimization or exhaustive enumeration of strategies. Instead, stations update setpoints sequentially, evaluating …
