An Empirical Investigation Into The Semantics Of The Polish Modal Musieć [Must] With Aspect And Negation, Leszek Szymański Jun 2026

An Empirical Investigation Into The Semantics Of The Polish Modal Musieć [Must] With Aspect And Negation, Leszek Szymański

Khazar Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences

The present paper makes an attempt to employ concepts developed in philosophy and logic in order to explain natural language phenomena. The study centers on the meanings of the Polish modal verb musieć in relation to aspect and negation. It uses authentic language samples excerpted from Narodowy Korpus Języka Polskiego [The National Corpus of Polish]. It adapts the model of the semantic field of modal expressions (Kratzer, 1991) to disambiguate the modal, focusing on the characteristics of the conversational backgrounds that the speaker evaluates in expressing their modal evaluation of an event. The study proposes that the lack of modality-aspect …

Respectful Maternity Care: A Narrative Review Of Current Evidence And Clinical Implications, Hadeel Rasheed Seger, Nada Abd Ali Mohammed, Khalid Alyodawi

Preventia: The Indonesian Journal of Public Health

Respectful Maternity Care (RMC) is key to improving quality maternity care and has also been recognized as a foundational approach to quality maternity services. The framework has been developed around respect and promotion of dignified care, confidentiality and privacy, and autonomy of a woman, along with her right to freedom from neglect, discrimination, physical and verbal abuse, during pregnancy and childbirth. Despite worldwide acknowledgment and promotion of RMC, disrespect and abuse during childbirth have been observed among women in maternity settings, especially in low- and middle-income countries. This narrative review summarizes the current evidence and clinical implications of RMC. The …

The Next Frontier In Network Security: A Comprehensive Review On Few-Shot Learning For Intrusion Detection, Ayman Bamarshad, Morched Derbali, Tarig Mohamed Ahmed, Mutasem Jarrah

Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Computing and Information Technology Sciences

The use of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) is fundamental to the protection of contemporary networks which are increasingly vulnerable to sophisticated and evolving cyber-attacks and within environments that do not possess labeled data and where attacks are appearing for the first time. Often, previous IDS approaches are sub-performers as they generally rely on larger amounts of labeled data or static signature sets, especially in the context of zero-day attacks or rare events. This Systematic Literature Review (SLR) examines the deployment of Few-Shot Learning (FSL) as a novel approach to counter these limitations. This review offers a systematic review of over …

Binara: A Game-Based 3d Simulation Framework For Pre-Occupancy Architectural Design Evaluation, Doaa Sinnari Jun 2026

Binara: A Game-Based 3d Simulation Framework For Pre-Occupancy Architectural Design Evaluation, Doaa Sinnari

Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Computing and Information Technology Sciences

Architectural design workflows still rely heavily on post-occupancy evaluation (POE), where usability and experiential issues are often identified only after buildings have been constructed. Although advances in real-time rendering and game engines enable immersive architectural visualization, most existing tools primarily support passive walkthroughs and remain disconnected from systematic user-experience evaluation. This limitation highlights the need for interactive approaches that allow stakeholders to experience and assess architectural spaces prior to construction. This paper presents Binara, a game-based three-dimensional simulation framework designed to support immersive pre-occupancy architectural design evaluation. The proposed framework integrates architectural construction tools, immersive walkthrough exploration, and conversational feedback …

Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Computing and Information Technology Sciences

Artificial intelligence (AI) has increasingly been integrated into language education; however, empirical evidence regarding its effects on both linguistic and affective outcomes among English as a foreign language (EFL) learners remains limited, particularly in higher education contexts. This study investigated the impact of AI-mediated instruction on English language proficiency, language motivation, language anxiety, and learner autonomy among university-level EFL students. An explanatory sequential mixed-methods design was employed involving sixty first-year female EFL students in Saudi Arabia who were assigned to either an experimental group receiving AI-assisted instruction or a control group receiving traditional instruction over a ten-week period. Quantitative data …

Extracellular Vesicles In Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Haniatul Qomariya, Fitrotin Azizah, Yetti Hernaningsih Jun 2026

Extracellular Vesicles In Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Haniatul Qomariya, Fitrotin Azizah, Yetti Hernaningsih

Folia Medica Indonesiana

Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is an aggressive hematologic malignancy marked by uncontrolled expansion of immature myeloid cells and disruption of normal hematopoiesis. Beyond genetic abnormalities, accumulating evidence demonstrates that leukemic progression is strongly shaped by intercellular communication within the bone marrow niche. Extracellular vesicles (EVs), including exosomes and microvesicles, have emerged as key mediators of this communication, transporting bioactive molecules that influence leukemic cell behavior, immune responses, and treatment sensitivity. This systematic review synthesizes current findings on EVs in adult AML, focusing on their biogenesis, molecular cargo, roles in disease pathogenesis, diagnostic and prognostic relevance, and therapeutic potential. Following PRISMA …

Roots Or Resources?: Understanding Latino Student Leadership In Higher Education, Kelly Parra Jun 2026

Roots Or Resources?: Understanding Latino Student Leadership In Higher Education, Kelly Parra

Honors Theses

For the purpose of this study, Latino/a refers to individuals who are from Latin America or of Latin American descent. The term Latino/a is used because it captures individuals from a variety of Latino American cultural backgrounds and is not limited to a single national origin or ethnic subgroup (Pratt Institute Libraries, n.d).

Student leadership development is often fostered with involvement in student organizations, leadership programs, mentorship opportunities, and other institutional resources provided through higher education (Lebrón et al., 2017). However, for many students’ Latino/a leadership-related skills may begin developing long before entering college through family responsibilities, cultural experiences, and …

Can Climate Risk Disclosure Improve The Carbon Performance Of High-Carbon Enterprises? Empirical Evidence From China, An Zeng Jun 2026

Can Climate Risk Disclosure Improve The Carbon Performance Of High-Carbon Enterprises? Empirical Evidence From China, An Zeng

Double Helix Methodology

With growing global concern over climate risk, high-carbon enterprises are assuming an increasingly critical role in strengthening climate resilience and fostering low-carbon development. However, how climate risk disclosure shapes their carbon performance—specifically through what mechanisms and pathways—remains a pivotal yet underexplored question. To address this gap, this study constructs a panel dataset comprising Chinese listed high-carbon companies over the period 2006–2022 and employs a two-way fixed-effects econometric model to assess how climate risk disclosure affects carbon performance while investigating the underlying mediating channel. The empirical results provide robust evidence that enhanced climate risk disclosure improves the carbon performance of high-carbon …
