Ensouling Progressive Partnership Synergy In Marketing To Revive The Indonesian Furniture Industry, Ahmad Ikhwan Setiawan, Fatimah Fatimah, Cheryl Marlitta Stefia

Asia Marketing Journal

This study develops a partnership marketing model to improve collaboration between suppliers and resellers in Indonesia's furniture industry by introducing Progressive Partnership Synergy (PPS), which links partnership dynamics to sales growth. A quantitative survey of 240 small and medium furniture manufacturers in Central Java tested the model using AMOS and Hayes's PROCESS Macro to examine mediation by synergy and competitive-advantage transformation. Results show PPS significantly affects sales growth while mediating the influence of competitive-advantage transformation. Market adjustment flexibility and partner orientation strengthen supplier–retailer ties. Some hypotheses were rejected, indicating additional factors are needed to optimize partnerships. Limitations include treating contextual …

A survey of 288 women aged 41 to 60 was conducted, revealing that fear of aging significantly influences luxury attitudes and purchasing intentions. Findings indicate that luxury goods are seen not only as tools for status maintenance but also as avenues for …

Social Exclusion Cues And Collective Action Motivation In Environmental Campaigns: The Buffering Role Of Social Support, Hwan-Ho Noh, Warren B. Chik Jun 2026

Social Exclusion Cues And Collective Action Motivation In Environmental Campaigns: The Buffering Role Of Social Support, Hwan-Ho Noh, Warren B. Chik

Asia Marketing Journal

This study examines the influence of social exclusion cues on public engagement with environmental campaigns on social media, focusing on how such cues affect advertising attitudes and collective action motivation. Across two experimental studies, we investigated whether low engagement metrics, such as a small number of likes, function as symbolic exclusion cues that reduce perceived public support. The results indicate that social exclusion cues negatively affect advertising attitudes and collective action motivation, ultimately decreasing the intention to engage with the campaign. However, the presence of social support cues, which signal sustained public interest and social endorsement, effectively mitigated these negative …

The Price Of Expectation: How Luxury Consumers React To Quality Crises, Jeong Ah Yoo, Daye Hong, Yoon Hi Sung Jun 2026

The Price Of Expectation: How Luxury Consumers React To Quality Crises, Jeong Ah Yoo, Daye Hong, Yoon Hi Sung

Asia Marketing Journal

This study investigated the mechanisms underlying consumer responses to quality crises in luxury brands and examined how these responses differ depending on consumers' prior luxury brand purchase experience. The findings indicated that stronger price-quality inferences led to elevated product quality expectations. Further, when consumers encountered information regarding quality controversies, their heightened expectations produced greater perceived discrepancies, which subsequently had a negative impact on brand attitudes. Additionally, this study found that the negative impacts of perceived discrepancies on brand attitudes, purchase intentions for other products of the brand, and forgiveness intentions were more pronounced among luxury than among non-luxury consumers. Finally, …

Uncovering App Activity Patterns Behind E-Commerce App Usage: An Explainable Ai Framework, Myounggu Lee, Hye-Jin Kim Jun 2026

Uncovering App Activity Patterns Behind E-Commerce App Usage: An Explainable Ai Framework, Myounggu Lee, Hye-Jin Kim

Asia Marketing Journal

In today's competitive mobile ecosystem, understanding how general app activity influences e-commerce app usage is crucial for marketers. This study introduces an explainable AI (XAI) framework using SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) to identify non-e-commerce apps associated with e-commerce app usage. Drawing on mobile app launch data from 1,000 Android users in South Korea, we train a machine learning model to predict usage and apply SHAP to quantify the marginal contribution of each app. Results show that apps such as YouTube, Naver, and KakaoTalk are strongly linked to e-commerce activity at the user level. By visualizing user–app associations and clustering users …

Can Ai-Generated Ads With Future Predictions Drive Higher Donations Than Human-Created Ads?, Chaewon Song, Sujin Song Jun 2026

Can Ai-Generated Ads With Future Predictions Drive Higher Donations Than Human-Created Ads?, Chaewon Song, Sujin Song

Asia Marketing Journal

The use of AI in generating ads offers benefits for NPOs, such as enhanced cost efficiency and personalized content. However, consumers often exhibit algorithm aversion when AI performs subjective tasks, like ad creation. According to mind perception theory, AI is seen as high in agency but low in experience. Given this, we hypothesized that including future predictions in AI-generated ads would mitigate this aversion. Across four studies, we found that AI-generated donation ads were generally perceived as less credible and elicited lower donation intentions than human-created ones. Crucially, when future predictions were included, the credibility and donation gap between AI …

From Emotions To Impulse: A Serial Mediation Approach In Tiktok Live Commerce, Amrul Asraf Mohd-Any, Moniruzzaman Sarker, Shaoxuan Lu

Asia Marketing Journal

Based on social exchange theory, this study investigates how interactions between influencers and followers during live streaming impact impulse buying behaviour. It explores how perceived influencer traits, namely authenticity, expertise, attractiveness, and homophily, influence trust, emotional attachment, and para-social interaction, which in turn drive impulsive purchases. Using PLS-SEM technique, a survey of 303 Chinese TikTok users reveals that emotional factors, particularly para-social interaction and attachment, have a stronger effect on impulse buying than trust. Authenticity and homophily emerge as essential in fostering emotional engagement, emphasising the importance of relatability over authority. The findings suggest that successful influencer marketing in live …

Establishing New Territorializations In A Community-Engaged Tesol Program: Insights From College Student Experiences, Lourdes Cardozo-Gaibisso, Savanah Stewart, Daniela Coral Patino, Haylee Morman

Journal of English Learner Education

This article presents a community engaged learning experience and its instructional implications for TESOL. The instructional cultures established in policies and practices that dictate college students’ engagement with the “real world” are dependent upon the ways they respond to and translate existing territories in social, cultural, political, and linguistic interactions with multilingual learners and communities. From a Deleuzoguattarian perspective on territorialization and deterritorialization, this article problematizes how college students perceive, and question established norms and taken-for-granted ways of doing emphasizing the importance of reflective practices, ongoing supports for all participants involved, and partnerships with local communities, advocating for a nuanced …

The Relationship Between School Connectedness And Well-Being Among Racial Minority English Language Learners: Implications For School Counselors, Laura Craven, Jonathan Ohrt, Keeland Lodato

Journal of English Learner Education

Students who feel connected to their school experience better academic performance, social competence, and mental health. English Language Learners (ELL) face unique challenges to school connectedness compared to their English-speaking peers. In this study, we explored the relationship between school connectedness and well-being for 205 racial minority ELL students. ELL students’ perceived school belonging was a significant predictor of well-being. We discuss implications for school counselors, including specific strategies for increasing ELL students’ school connectedness.

Sustained Reading: Multilingual Learners Exploring The Language Of A Text, Priscila J.B.M. Costa, Luciana C. De Oliveira, Meghan Love

Journal of English Learner Education

In US schools, multilingual learners (MLs) are expected to meet the same rigorous disciplinary standards as their English-speaking peers while also developing proficiency in English. This article demonstrates how sustained reading, as part of the Teaching and Learning Cycle, can support MLs' access to disciplinary literacy through the explicit attention to language features. Grounded on the Language-based Approach to Content Instruction (LACI), the article presents a classroom vignette from a 5th-grade social studies lesson in which MLs dissected a mentor text. The lesson illustrates how code-breaking within sustained reading makes disciplinary language visible, helping students notice the linguistic choices common …

Accepting overweight and obese individuals as living kidney donors remains controversial. The purpose of this study was to review the impact of obesity on the determination of candidates for living kidney donation at a single transplant center.

Methods. We performed a retrospective chart review of living kidney donors evaluated over 5 …

The Woman In Hijab: A Performance Autoethnography Of Intersecting Identities In Arabic Language Teaching, Sayonara Tomoum Jun 2026

The Woman In Hijab: A Performance Autoethnography Of Intersecting Identities In Arabic Language Teaching, Sayonara Tomoum

Journal of Educational Research and Innovation

This performance autoethnography inhabits the pedagogical encounter between a North African Muslim woman in hijab teaching college-level Arabic and an African American Muslim student whose Islam traveled a different racial and geographic history. Race and religion move through every exchange, shaping who holds authority, whose Arabic counts, and how bodies are racialized and read through religious markers. This work draws on Della Pollock’s (2007) concept of error as a site of possibility and her performative question “What now?” to name pedagogical rupture as the moment when the conditions shaping the encounter become legible as knowledge. Through performative writing, this autoethnography …

Background: Obesity is a multifactorial and chronic condition characterized by excess adiposity and systemic low-grade inflammation. Exercise exerts metabolic and anti-inflammatory effects partly mediated through gene expression modulation in skeletal muscle and adipose tissue. However, heterogeneous responses among obese individuals suggest that genetic and epigenetic mechanisms shape exercise adaptation. Objective: This systematic review aimed to identify the genes and molecular pathways modulated by physical exercise in adults with obesity, and to classify them according to their biological functions across different exercise modalities. Methods: Following PRISMA guidelines, randomized controlled trials were searched in PubMed, SpringerLink, Science Direct, Cochrane, LILACS, Web of …

Prompting Change With Genai In Large-Scale Document Review: A Real-World Study, Robert Keeling, Ray Mangum, Amy Hanke, Alyssa Ogden

Journal of Technology Law & Policy

The evolution of document review in civil litigation has reached another milestone—one that invites a new partnership between humans and technology that promises gains in accuracy, efficiency, and scalability. Generative artificial intelligence (genAI) is remaking business and professional life at extraordinary speed, and, within the legal sphere, nowhere is its impact more immediate—or the potential changes more dramatic—than document review.

Yet significant questions remain. When does genAI meaningfully improve document review? How should it be integrated into established workflows? How should its outputs be validated? As with prior technologies that are now widely accepted in eDiscovery, genAI’s broader adoption will …

The Recovery Of Meaning In A Digital Age: E-Discovery And The Renewal Of Judgment, William F. Hamilton

Journal of Technology Law & Policy

Modern litigation unfolds within a dense and expanding digital environment. Nearly every human activity now leaves behind emails, documents, metadata, collaborative communications, and machine-generated records that together form the factual foundation of contemporary litigation. This Article argues that electronic discovery is not merely a technical, managerial, or compliance process, but a core litigation practice concerned with the recovery, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of the factual world on which judgment depends.

Tracing the evolution of discovery from its twentieth-century roots to the present era of pervasive digital evidence, this Article shows how electronically stored information (ESI) continues to alter the dynamics of …

Force Multiplier?: Artificial Intelligence, Uneven Competence, And The Integrity Of The Adversarial System, Ralph Artigliere, David Horrigan, Rose Hunter Jones Jun 2026

Force Multiplier?: Artificial Intelligence, Uneven Competence, And The Integrity Of The Adversarial System, Ralph Artigliere, David Horrigan, Rose Hunter Jones

Journal of Technology Law & Policy

Generative artificial intelligence has entered legal practice with unprecedented speed, transforming how lawyers and judges synthesize information, develop arguments, and evaluate evidence. While early attention has focused on visible failures such as hallucinated citations and fabricated authority, these incidents do not capture the deeper structural risk AI poses to the legal system. The authors argue that generative AI is a stress test for legal institutions: it offers substantial opportunities to improve legal practice and access to justice, but it also operates as a force multiplier that can deepen structural asymmetries when professional competence and oversight are uneven. Unlike prior legal …

The Coming Use And Misuse Of Artificial Intelligence In The Courtroom: A Judicial Perspective And Proposal, William Matthewman Jun 2026

The Coming Use And Misuse Of Artificial Intelligence In The Courtroom: A Judicial Perspective And Proposal, William Matthewman

Journal of Technology Law & Policy

While attorneys, litigants, and judges have always had to be vigilant for the attempted introduction of improperly enhanced or fabricated evidence in court proceedings, the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its subset, Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI), has substantially increased the stakes. The task of identifying and exposing such fake or improperly enhanced AI evidence has become significantly more challenging. The current Federal Rules of Evidence and the Federal Rules of Civil and Criminal Procedure are insufficient to effectively address the coming advance of AI-generated or AI-enhanced evidence. The rules must be amended, in certain respects, to provide attorneys, litigants, …
