Spherical Spiky Zno/Au Nanostructures For Efficient Photoelectrochemical Watersplitting, Kouroush Sali̇mi̇
Spherical Spiky Zno/Au Nanostructures For Efficient Photoelectrochemical Watersplitting, Kouroush Sali̇mi̇
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Spiky zinc oxide (ZnO)/Au nanostructures with spherical shape-defined morphologies were synthesized using polydopamine as a starting template for photoelectrochemical H2 production under visible light-emitting diode (LED) illumination. This low-temperature processing technique not only facilitated the fabrication of ideal plasmon-sensitive heterostructures, but also enhanced the electron mobility of the photoanodes, reaching 5.7 mA/cm² [at 1.0 V vs. the reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE)] under visible LED illumination (30 mW/cm2). This notable value was 28 times greater than that observed under dark conditions, primarily attributed to the close Schottky contact between the Au and ZnO spikes. The highest applied bias photon-to-current efficiency value …
Consumer Willingness To Pay For Allergy Safe Foods, Julia Posillico
Consumer Willingness To Pay For Allergy Safe Foods, Julia Posillico
College Honors Program
For many individuals with food allergies purchasing allergy safe food is essential yet costly. Allergy safe food often costs more than its standard counterparts and is becoming increasingly important due to poor labeling regulations and increased recalls resulting from undeclared allergens. Understanding how much more consumers are willing to pay for allergy safe foods as well as what elements impact their willingness to pay such as the number of allergies, allergy severity, age, gender, and income is important. A contingent valuation approach was used to collect data which was analyzed using a multiple-variable linear regression model. The results reveal consumers …

Introduction: Nicotine addiction, a multifaceted neuropsychiatric disorder, profoundly impacts brain functions through interactions with neural pathways. Despite its significance, the impact of tobacco smoking on the whole-brain functional connectome remains largely unexplored.
Aims and methods: We conducted a whole-brain analysis on 24 539 adults aged 40 and above from the United Kingdom Biobank cohort. Subjects were categorized into individuals who use nicotine and those who do not use nicotine based on current and chronic tobacco smoking information. Functional connectivity was assessed using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging. We employed a network analysis method to assess the systematic effects of tobacco …

The Impact Of Prison Education On Prison Misconduct, Kelli Brooke Garrett
Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive
Prison education programs can be found in nearly every carceral institution and are the cornerstone of rehabilitative efforts. Prison education, ranging from basic adult education to college-in-prison programs, provides numerous transformative educational opportunities that can lead to successful desistance. While the benefits of participation in prison education programs are evident, including reduced recidivism, increased employment, and family impact, the impact on reducing prison misconduct is less clear. This study aimed to determine the association between prison education and misconduct while controlling for the demographic, educational, and social factors that impact participation in prison education programs. A secondary analysis was conducted …

A Comprehensive Guide To V2x Security: Protocol Analysis, Risk Assessment, And Emerging Innovations, Stefano Alessandro Blasoni
Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive
ABSTRACT As Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication becomes an integral component of intelligent transportation systems, ensuring its security is critical for maintaining safety, privacy, and reliability on the road. However, research on V2X security is often overly specialized and complex, limiting more broad collaboration and public scrutiny from the wider cybersecurity community and the public. This lack of understanding affects the further collaborative efforts that could enhance V2X security and the V2X ecosystem. This thesis bridges that gap by applying fundamental computer security principles to V2X protocols, specifically Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) and Cellular V2X (C-V2X). It analyzes their security mechanisms, assesses …
Can Professional Judgment Be Taught To Auditors? An Experimental Investigation Of Abilities And Implicit Beliefs, Darsheika Williams
Can Professional Judgment Be Taught To Auditors? An Experimental Investigation Of Abilities And Implicit Beliefs, Darsheika Williams
Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive
Abstract In this study, I investigate the impact of training interventions on professional judgment in auditors, while considering the moderating effects of ability and implicit beliefs about skill malleability. Prior research highlights the potential of metacognitive training to enhance analytical procedures in lower-level auditors (Plumlee, Rixom, & Rosman, 2015) and the role of experiential learning methods in fostering professional development (Powell et al., 2020). The effectiveness of such training interventions in improving professional judgment, particularly when accounting for individual differences in ability and mindset, remains an open question. Using a one-factor design with nesting, this study explores whether training in …

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications
In this article, the concept of nonagonal neutrosophic numbers has been introducing in the disjunctive frame of reference. We also proposed the dependency and independency of membership function in regards to nonagonal neutrosophic number. We also introduce a new score function and its computation also formulated in a distinct rational viewpoint. We developed the concept of weighted arithmetic averaging operator and weighted geometric averaging operator for nonagonal neutrosophic numbers. It will open new doors for MCDM and develop the concept with new approaches. Additionally, we analyze the effect of COVID-19 for different ages.

Accessibility Care Beyond The University Disability Office, Mae L. Zurita
Accessibility Care Beyond The University Disability Office, Mae L. Zurita
Masters Projects
When higher education institutions rely on a single office to provide primarily in-class accommodations for students with diagnosed disabilities, practitioners beyond this office receive little guidance on supporting the broader disabled community in daily practices. By critiquing the dominant models, theories, interventions, and solutions that create an ambiguous responsibility for how practitioners are to include and accommodate disabled people the project can outline alternative methods. A culture of ableism and rampant inaccessibility is innate to how North American higher education operates as an institutional practice. The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 is treated like a successful initiative that guarantees …

Theses
This thesis investigates the vibration reliability and microstructure of two low temperature lead-free solder alloys. The experimental design involved a 2x2 factorial setup, with solder paste type and time above liquidus (TAL) as the primary factors. The solder pastes tested were Indalloy 281 and Indalloy 303, with TALs of two minutes and three minutes. Indalloy 281 is a eutectic Sn42/Bi58 solder and Indalloy 303 is a doped near eutectic Sn-Bi solder. The objective of the study is to identify how reliability changes between solders and the time above liquidous and to also examine the microstructure and the significant factors that …
Impacts Of Climate Change On Cannibalism And Disease Transmission In The Fall Armyworm, Kale Rougeau
Impacts Of Climate Change On Cannibalism And Disease Transmission In The Fall Armyworm, Kale Rougeau
LSU Master's Theses
Climate change may alter host-pathogen dynamics in terrestrial ecosystems due to rising global temperatures and carbon dioxide levels. Here, we examined cannibalism and disease transmission using the fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), an invasive agricultural pest, and its species-specific lethal baculovirus, Spodoptera frugiperda multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (SfMNPV), under various potential challenges of climate change. We used three temperature treatments (cooler, optimal, warmer) based on the fall armyworm’s thermal performance curve to simulate a changing climate and four artificial diets with various protein-to-carbohydrate ratios (low, equal, high, standard) to manipulate resource quality from altered carbon dioxide levels. We found that higher …

2020-Current year OA Pubs
Sensing of cytosolic, double-stranded (ds) DNA or dsRNA molecules derived from microbial or endogenous sources triggers cell-intrinsic innate immunity, but sensors recognizing both cytosolic dsDNA and dsRNA are sparsely reported. Here we find that full-length human SAMD9 protein directly binds to synthetic or viral dsDNA or dsRNA. Overexpression of SAMD9 from various vertebrate species leads to robust production of interferons and pro-inflammatory cytokines. By contrast, loss of endogenous SAMD9 impairs the interferon responses to cytosolic dsDNA and dsRNA stimulation in multiple cell types and enhances the infectivity of pathogenic dsDNA and dsRNA viruses. Mice lacking Samd9l, the human SAMD9 homolog, …

Decolonial Underground Pedagogy: Unschooling And Subcultural Learning For Peace And Human Rights, Jazzmin C. Gota
International Journal of Human Rights Education
As an Asian American unschooler growing up in California in the 1990s, I have heard (and had scolded at me by people outside my family) theories and ideas of what education is as well as what it can and cannot be. I vividly recall being told that homeschooling, let alone unschooling (i.e., learning outside of a curriculum or hierarchical structure, see page 57) would stunt my intellectual and social growth. How could I learn outside of a formal classroom? Fast forward 30 years and now I am a doctoral student in International and Multicultural Education, ecstatic to see a book …

International Journal of Human Rights Education
Traditional human rights education (HRE), and education writ-large, often depends on and reinforces binary hierarchies. The Society of Gender Professionals (SGP) reflects on how its trans-national, digital communities of practice (“Gender Circles”) are actively “queering” traditional HRE. This article shares reflections and learnings from 14 one-on-one interviews with Gender Circle participants, most notably from the Breaking Gender/Sex Binaries Circles. By facilitating spaces that co-create knowledge, build community, and center lived experiences of people with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, and sex characteristics (SOGIESC,) SGP disrupts and queers binaries and hierarchies in education and other constructs, such as with …
