Experimental Analysis Of Satellite Operator Training Using Game-Based Virtual Reality Simulation, Lana Laskey

Doctoral Dissertations and Master's Theses

Satellite data plays a vital role in modern global infrastructure by enabling communications, navigation, and weather forecasting. As demand for satellite technology grows, so does the need for highly trained satellite ground operators. Traditional training regimens for satellite operators employ simulation using two-dimensional computer console displays paired with the varied ability of trainees to generate abstract mental imagery of the scenario. However, this development of mental imagery imposes a considerable learning curve and cognitive workload on the trainee, which may negatively impact the user experience and knowledge gained during the training scenario.

This experimental study investigated the effects of game-based …

Evolving Ontology And The Case Against Predictive Algorithms In The U.S. Justice System, Eryn Reyes Leong Jul 2025

Evolving Ontology And The Case Against Predictive Algorithms In The U.S. Justice System, Eryn Reyes Leong

Say Something Theological: The Student Journal of Theological Studies

In the United States today, predictive algorithms, a particular form of artificial intelligence (AI), permeate all segments of society, including the criminal justice system. With the help of AI, judges are able to “plug” defendants into algorithms and generate outputs that produce a deterministic and homogenous view of defendants. Proponents of predictive algorithms cite accuracy, neutrality, fairness, and efficiency, but what is missing from their calculus is the human person, the central figure who shapes and is shaped by algorithms. Using the story of defendant Darnell Gates as a case study, this article seeks to contribute to the development of …

Functionalization And Characterization Of Liposomes For Targeted Drug Delivery, Kayla Lee, Daniel Fologea, Lizbeth Calvillo, Ana Flacau, Patrick Jude, Maila Honcik, Daniel Robertson

Idaho Conference on Undergraduate Research

Liposomes are among the most widely used nanocarriers for drug delivery due to their exceptional biocompatibility and ability to passively accumulate at tumor sites, both of which contribute to enhanced therapeutic efficacy. However, despite these advantages, targeting specificity remains limited, often leading to off-target drug release and elevated systemic toxicity. Moreover, liposomes are generally engineered with a predefined target during production, substantially narrowing their post-production versatility. To address these limitations, surface modification of liposomes is employed to improve targeting specificity and versatility in a time and cost-effective manner. Here, we propose post-production functionalization of liposomes by employing Function-Spacer-Lipid (FSL) constructs …

Statistical Monitoring Of Hard Faults In Digital Systems, Dany Akshay Deep Isukapalli Jul 2025

Statistical Monitoring Of Hard Faults In Digital Systems, Dany Akshay Deep Isukapalli

Electrical Engineering Theses and Dissertations

Achieving a high test coverage is crucial for helping to ensure that integrated circuits are working correctly and are non-defective. Although scan-based structural tests are used throughout the industry, high-level functional tests may be needed to detect some defects— especially those that are environmentally sensitive. Unfortunately, the character of functional test makes it difficult to obtain high coverage, and it is even hard to estimate coverage because fault simulation times of large circuits are long. As a result, some method is required for predicting the ability of a functional test that has not been fault simulated to detect defects. In …

Investigating The Ecology Of The Homeless Court: The Promise Of Quasi-Experimental And Statistical Learning Methods, Dylan Wong

Theses and Dissertations

Interactions with the legal system are a crucial factor in maintaining homelessness. Difficulties in addressing legal issues are barriers to accessing services and finding employment and housing. Across the United States, the homeless court is an emerging legal program that has been developed to break this cycle, but they appear to face numerous capacity and coordination problems. Few empirical and systematic investigations have been conducted on homeless court programs. Further, previous studies of homeless courts focus their process and outcome measures on the priorities of the legal system. An investigation into the ecology, or environmental context, of homeless persons would …
