Book Review: Urbanism In The Iron Age Levant And Beyond, Emily Jewkes
Studia Antiqua
Urbanism in the Iron Age Levant and Beyond, edited by Aren Maeir, Shira Albaz, and Angelika Berlejung, contributes to the study of the history and creation of settlements in the Levant and other locations, such as Europe and Mesopotamia, during the Iron Age. The chapters in this book are a collection of presentations given at a 2022 conference at Bar-Ilan University on urbanism during the Iron Age that employed archaeological and textual methods to analyze urbanism through a variety of theoretical lenses. The book is divided into three parts that address the topic of Iron Age urbanism in the …
Confidence In The Pompeian Fullo, Tori Nielsen
Confidence In The Pompeian Fullo, Tori Nielsen
Studia Antiqua
Many scholars have discussed a curious graffito parodying the Aeneid found outside of a Pompeian fullonica, but few have taken into account its visual and written context. I synthesize previous scholarship and consider additional neighboring graffiti and visual elements in order to more thoroughly reconstruct the ideas conveyed about fullers in this space. The outer wall celebrates fullers in cultural, social, and fulling matters, thus bolstering their community’s confidence in them.

From Guardsmen To Doughboys: The Lynchburg Musketeers In World War I, Timothy W. Brophy
Montview Journal of Research & Scholarship
“From Guardsmen to Doughboys: The Lynchburg Musketeers in World War I” traces the development of a local company of men from Lynchburg, Virginia, that went from the National Guard to the U.S. Army during World War I. The Lynchburg Musketeers was a small militia organized in the fall of 1915 that became Company L of the National Guard’s 1st Virginia Infantry Regiment in the summer of 1916. The article centers around the firsthand account of Edley Craighill, a member of the Lynchburg Musketeers, in his 1931 work, The Musketeers. After training in Lynchburg and service on the Mexican border …

This quasi-experimental study evaluates if providing individualized follow-up care through self-care bags, follow-up phone calls, open communication for debriefing, and tailored mental health resources enhances support for obstetric staff and improves their ability to care for patients experiencing perinatal loss. Interventions were implemented from February 2024 to August 2024. A total of 103 self-care bags were distributed throughout the designated hospital systems’ two labor and delivery departments. A five question post-intervention survey was conducted and found the following question to be statistically significant, “I feel the joy in nursing would be restored, to a degree, if obstetric staff were more …

Bridging The Emotional Gaps: Understanding And Supporting Doctoral Students In Counselor Education, Janita Daggy, Tiffany Spatz, Eric Jason Camden
Montview Journal of Research & Scholarship
Counselor education and supervision (CES) is a dynamic and exciting profession. CES-students often enroll in CES-programs because they recognize the charge of training new generations of counselors, supervisors, and researchers and extant research demonstrates the interpersonal and intrapersonal experiences associated with this advanced educational training experience. Concurrently, as with most advanced training regimens, significant personal transformation is possible. It is during this transformation, or personal and academic refining, that emotional experiences manifest. These emotional experiences often either promote persistence or can inhibit, or curtail, the academic journey. Therefore, this conceptual article reviews common emotional challenges faced by CES students and …

Mental Health Stigma: Promoting Compassionate Care In The U.S. Healthcare System, Wuraola R. Awosan, Fredrick O. Akinyosoye, Perseverance N. Moyo, Akuchinyere O. Titus-Okpanachi, Giordana Morales, Emmanuel N. Clottey
Montview Journal of Research & Scholarship
Mental illness-related stigma is a pervasive issue that permeates every facet of psychiatric care. This phenomenon, which manifests at the societal or structural, individual, and public levels, presents a barrier to equitable and compassionate care in the U.S. healthcare system, leading to care avoidance and poor health outcomes. This systematic review aims to synthesize evidence on the forms of mental health stigma within the U.S. healthcare setting and identify strategies that foster compassionate care among healthcare professionals. Following PRISMA guidelines, a methodical search of peer-reviewed literature published between 2015 and 2025 was conducted in three databases – APA PsychInfo, CINAHL …

Immunohistochemical Analysis Of The Effects Of Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetes On Mouse Testis, Rory E. Field, Brianna R. Demaio, Hannah R. Fioramonti, Makenna M. Landis, Jing Xu
Montview Journal of Research & Scholarship
Because diabetes mellitus (DM) poses harm to the reproductive systems of humans and mice on both the cellular and histological levels, we sought to understand the effects of streptozotocin-induced (STZ) diabetes mellitus on the spermatogenesis and Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) production of mice. The structural integrity of the testes is disrupted due to the high levels of oxidative stress caused by DM, which also hinders spermatogenesis. Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) have been found to induce autophagy in Sertoli cells, and the Sertoli cells of diabetic models have fewer tight junctions between them. This disorganization and decreased integrity of the seminiferous …

Montview Journal of Research & Scholarship
This research project consists of a vocal performance of two songs from Emmanuel Chabrier’s “Barnyard Suite” (Volailleries), a song cycle on poems of Edmond Rostand and Rosemonde Gérard. It will be accompanied by program notes and a separate oral presentation that detail the research process and creative decisions inherent in presenting a work of musical performance art. The project will provide a broad historical context for Chabrier’s work, with special attention given to the role of humor in French art song. The first song presented, Les cigales, masterfully depicts cicadas and their raucous noises, while the second, …

In the Great Lakes region, harmful algal blooms (HABs) are known cyanobacterial blooms that pose significant public health, environmental, and socio-economic risks. Risk information related to HABs is primarily communicated through state and local government agencies; however, the effectiveness of these communication strategies and how local stakeholders are learning about such risks remains unclear. The objective of this study is to examine how to effectively communicate HABs risks and understand public risk perceptions of HABs-related risks during recreational lake use in Michigan. Guided by the social amplification of risk framework, this qualitative study conducted fieldwork in 2021, including 27 semi-structured …
A Parallel Interval Modeling Framework For Nonlinear Systems: Application To A Modified Duffing Oscillator, Roman Voliansky, Nina Volianska
A Parallel Interval Modeling Framework For Nonlinear Systems: Application To A Modified Duffing Oscillator, Roman Voliansky, Nina Volianska
Northeast Journal of Complex Systems (NEJCS)
The paper presents a mathematical framework for converting nonlinear dynamical systems into parallel forms. This framework replaces the exact system motion equations with interval equations, enabling the representation of nonlinear functions over piecewise linear domains. Such representation enables the description of system motions using linear-like differential equations, which can be analyzed and manipulated using well-known control methods. One such method is eigenvalue analysis, a powerful tool in classical control theory since many techniques rely on the system’s characteristic polynomial and its eigenvalues. We apply this method to define interval system eigenvalues and track their variation during system operation. These eigenvalues …

Iraqi Journal for Computer Science and Mathematics
Multimedia content has become a necessary part of our daily lives in many domains, including medical imaging, surveillance, and entertainment. Among all multimedia categories, video is mainly critical because of its high content density and large size. For that, ensuring the security of video has become a necessity for transmission and storage. This paper proposed an enhancement to the Chacha algorithm integration with a hybrid chaotic map for generating keys to secure video. The main motivation for the selection ChaCha algorithm is that it is fast, simple, and appropriate for widespread applications, whereas the motivation for using chaos is to …

2024–2025 was a big year for tort law in Georgia, particularly on the legislative side. Governor Brian Kemp achieved his primary goal for the 2025 legislative session, working with the Georgia General Assembly to enact significant tort reform measures. These measures change Georgia law on the collateral source rule, the relevance of seatbelt evidence, and—most notably—in the area of negligent security. All of these changes benefit tort defendants. The Supreme Court of Georgia also made its mark on tort law during the Survey period, deciding several cases involving the liability of professionals and adopting rules that— more often than not—benefited …

I Can’T Even With This Thesis: A Syntactic And Pragmatic Analysis, Ester Luna
Yale Working Papers in Grammatical Diversity
This project focuses on the construction I can’t even, a sentence coined in the early 2000s that expresses a speaker’s strong emotion to the point where they are lost for words. The most typical emotion conveyed using I can’t even is exasperation, as in example (1), but it can also be an indication of extreme happiness, like in (2).
- (1) He tried to get my number AGAIN. I can’t even.
- (2) You came all the way from New York to watch me perform? I can’t even.
While the modal can and the adverb even normally require the …
