Healthcare Administration And Ai: Enhancing Personalized Care And Workforce Sustainability, Arlene J. Nicholas Dr. Jan 2026

Healthcare Administration And Ai: Enhancing Personalized Care And Workforce Sustainability, Arlene J. Nicholas Dr.

Faculty and Staff - Articles & Papers

Healthcare systems face growing strain from rising demand, administrative complexity, and workforce burnout. Artificial intelligence (AI), particularly in administrative functions, offers a promising solution. This paper examines AI-enabled tools such as electronic health record optimization, natural language processing, ambient AI scribes, inbox management systems, chatbots, and clinical decision support systems. Drawing on recent literature (2024–2026), evidence shows these tools can reduce documentation burden, improve workflow efficiency, and support workforce sustainability while enhancing patient care. Successful outcomes depend on transparent governance, staff engagement, and human-centered design, enabling AI to strengthen care delivery and build a more resilient healthcare workforce.

Our proposal seeks to develop and implement a standardized Charge Nurse Interest Survey which will create a structured process for identifying those most interested and best suited for the position of charge for all registered nurses on a local med-surg unit. Nurses on this unit are appointed and eligible to serve in the charge nurse role after six months of experience on the unit. Research shows that charge nurses who demonstrate emotional stability, composure under pressure, strong organizational skills, and proactive planning contribute to improved team functioning and decreased workplace strain (Gottlieb & Gøtzsche-Astrup, 2018).

Observing Effects Of Social Isolation On Ethanol Preference In Carpenter Ants, Gregory Smith, Rivers Pope Jan 2026

Observing Effects Of Social Isolation On Ethanol Preference In Carpenter Ants, Gregory Smith, Rivers Pope

SPARK Symposium Presentations

Alcohol consumption has been observed through humans and vertebrates for centuries to understand reward systems and behavior. Carpenter Ants, a social invertebrate model, have many similarities with humans including communication, stress-induced behavior, and structured societies. Past research has shown that Carpenter ants can have increased preference to ethanol and opioids in low concentrations. However, there has been little research on how isolation can influence ethanol preference. In this study, Carpenter Ants are separated into social and isolation groups over a five-day period and offered ethanol solutions alongside a natural sucrose diet to assess behavioral differences in preference for ethanol. It …

The Relationship Between Phone Usage, Activity Participation, And Hand Strength, Debra Gibbs, Will Best, Raegan Adams, Amanda Finke, Rachel Pierce, Salem Swallows, Alisha Yoo

SPARK Symposium Presentations

Smartphone use among university students in the United States is steadily increasing. Longer duration of smartphone use has been associated with increased risk of smartphone addiction, reduced musculoskeletal strength, and engagement in meaningful activities. While prior research has examined these variables separately, limited evidence exists on the associations between smartphone use, hand grip and pinch strength, and extracurricular and leisure activities among U.S. university students. To address this gap, a correlational study was conducted using the Spearman rank correlation to analyze the relationship between phone use, activity participation, and hand strength. A Qualtrics survey including demographic information, phone usage, and …

Leading With Our Hearts, Ananya Agarwal

High Impact Practices Student Showcase Spring 2026

This past semester I volunteer with hearts for the homeless Orlando where I performed health screenings on homeless people and contributed to donation drives. Hearts for the homeless has a very rich history. It was founded by a former UCF Student Andrew Aboujaoude, who was also a fellow Lead Scholar. He saw a very large issue in the homeless community that hypertension or high blood pressure was one of the leading causes of death. He created hearts for the homeless to help solve this issue by bringing free regular health screenings to the homeless community of Orlando.  Hearts for the …

We are surrounded by language and design daily. With the age of technology and social media, we are interacting with it more than ever before. Social platforms such as Spotify, the interest of my research, rely on carefully crafted language and design on their platform in order to shape user behavior. Their goal being to keep user engagement. Throughout my study I explored three main sections: Easter eggs, the AI DJ, and comparing the algorithm of certain shuffle features in order to better understand how such apps bring attention to their features and maintain attention from their users. My results …

Does Dosage Management Of Levothyroxine During Ramadan Improve Outcomes For Hypothyroidism?, John Duran, Dillon Moya, Ethan Cabral, Renan Rodriguez, Mia Ortiz

High Impact Practices Student Showcase Spring 2026

Ramadan fasting alters circadian rhythms and meal timing, interfering with the standard dosage of levothyroxine (LT4) on an empty stomach and impact its absorption. The presentation examines whether dosage management of levothyroxine during Ramadan improves the livelihood of patients with hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism, characterized by deficient production of thyroid hormones (T3 and T4), leads to elevated thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels due to reduced negative feedback. Since LT4 is used to normalize TSH levels, disruptions in dosing timing during fasting may result in suboptimal thyroid control. A clinical trial was analyzed comparing regular LT4 dosing with an increased dose of 25 mcg …

“We Learned So Much More About Each Other”: Strengthening Student-Educator Relationships Through Culturally Affirming Practices, Ashley R. Routhier

Doctor of Education (Ed.D.)

School connectedness serves as a powerful lever for positive student outcomes. Specifically, student-educator relationships provide well-documented benefits, acting as a protective factor against adverse experiences. However, building and maintaining these relationships remains a complex challenge influenced by site-specific conditions. This challenge is further intensified when accounting for diverse cultural and racial backgrounds. Utilizing an improvement science framework, this qualitative study examined educators’ perceptions as they facilitated culturally affirming social and emotional lessons in a pre-existing advisory block at a magnet high school. Findings indicate that factors at every level of the system shape student-educator relationships. Policies emerged as a critical …

The Structural Law Of Data, Bridget A. Fahey, Raul Castro Fernandez Jan 2026

The Structural Law Of Data, Bridget A. Fahey, Raul Castro Fernandez

University of Chicago Law Review

The central concern of structural constitutional law is the organization of governmental power, but power comes in many forms. This Article is about how the law of structure regulates decision-making about, and popular control over, an increasingly potent form of power: the power government obtains from data. The government has always relied on information to meet its objectives, but the digitization of information over the last half century has yielded a distinctive form of governmental power—one that is liquid, transferable, minable, dynamic, and vital to virtually all governmental activity today.

But despite the significant literature on private-sector “data governance,” public …

Evaluation And Impact Of 4th Grade Writing Instruction And Intervention, Sasha R. Smith

Education Theses and Dissertations

The implementation of Texas's redesigned State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) introduced extended constructed response (ECR) items that required students to demonstrate reading comprehension through written responses. At the study site, fourth-grade students consistently demonstrated stronger reading comprehension than writing performance, revealing a gap in their ability to communicate understanding using evidence-based written responses. The purpose of this Improvement Science Dissertation in Practice was to evaluate the implementation and impact of a systems-based instructional intervention designed to improve fourth-grade students' performance on constructed response writing tasks through increased instructional coherence and explicit writing instruction. This embedded mixed-methods case …
