Global enterprise operations can experience inefficiencies and service delays from language-siloed support queues, while generic machine translation tools may lack the context to handle enterprise-specific terminology. A system and method can facilitate multilingual communication by integrating a generative artificial intelligence model within enterprise workflow platforms, such as customer relationship management systems. The framework can programmatically retrieve a curated, enterprise-specific glossary and inject it into a translation prompt sent to the model. This technique grounds the model, instructing it to prioritize an organization's specific lexicon for a given translation. The approach can produce translations that are both linguistically fluent and terminologically …

Spatially resolved transcriptomics (SRT) is a promising new technology that enables simultaneous analysis of gene expression and spatial information for biomedical research. However, the existing statistical and deep learning algorithms used for analyzing SRT data rely solely on two-dimensional (2D) spatial coordinates, which limits their ability to accurately identify spatial domains, spatially variable genes (SVGs), cell-to-cell communications, and developmental trajectories in a three-dimensional (3D) spatial manner. To address these limitations, we introduced Spa3D, which utilized the anti-leakage Fourier transform and graph convolutional neural network model to reconstruct 3D-based spatial structures from multiple 2D SRT slices. We demonstrate that Spa3D is …

Objectives Perioperative randomised controlled trials (RCTs) in liver transplantation are relatively infrequent. RCTs performed in this complex patient population need to be robustly conducted to maximise patient benefit and graft utility given the scarcity of donor organs. Recruitment challenges can compromise RCTs and studies in this population face unique challenges due to recipient illness severity, their comorbidities, demographics and the geographical constraints of specialist transplant centres. Emergency presentation and after-hours admission may further limit patients’ capacity or readiness to consider trial participation. This Study Within a Trial (SWAT) specifically explored motivators and barriers to recruitment in patients awaiting liver transplantation.Design …

Ai-Driven Application Intent For Seamless End-To-End Guaranteed Quality Of Service Packet Forwarding, Jaganbabu Rajamanickam, Madhan Sankaranarayanan, Paul Jensen, Sumant Mali, Krishna Deevi

Defensive Publications Series

A next-generation approach to network Quality of Service (QoS) is proposed herein that enables direct, in-band communication of application intent using an innovative extension header, such as an Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) extension header. Using the proposed innovation, applications can embed concise, high-level QoS requirement strings or "intents" (e.g., 'ultra-low latency', 'AI/ML Training', etc.) into packet headers, allowing ingress edge devices to interpret these intents using a local policy database. Advanced matching engines, potentially leveraging machine learning, can enable flexible and semantically rich interpretation of these requirements/intents, surpassing traditional rigid classifications.

Animals respond to changes in their environment and internal states via neuromodulation. Neuropeptides modulate neural circuits with flexibility because 1 gene can produce either multiple copies of the same neuropeptide or different neuropeptides. However, with this architectural complexity, the function of discrete and active neuropeptides is muddled. Here, we design a genetic tool that facilitates functional analysis of individual peptides. We engineered Escherichia coli bacteria to express active peptides, fed loss-of-function Caenorhabditis elegans, and rescued the activity of genes with varying lengths and functions: pdf-1, flp-3, ins-6, and ins-22. Some peptides were functionally redundant, while others exhibit unique and previously …

Recent developments in spatially resolved -omics have enabled the joint study of gene expression, metabolite levels and tissue morphology, offering greater insights into biological pathways. Integrating these modalities from matched tissue sections to probe spatially-coordinated processes, however, remains challenging. Here we introduce MAGPIE, a framework for co-registering spatially resolved transcriptomics, metabolomics, and tissue morphology from the same or consecutive sections. We show MAGPIE's generalisability and scalability on spatial multi-omics data from multiple tissues, combining Visium with MALDI and DESI mass spectrometry imaging. MAGPIE was also applied to new multi-modal datasets generated with a specialised sampling strategy to characterise the metabolic …

The Roberts Court And The District Court, Elodie O. Currier Stoffel

University of Memphis Law Review

The 2022 and 2023 Supreme Court terms were “blockbusters.”1 From the rousing dissents in Trump v. United States2 to the death knell of Chevron deference3 and the intense debates over the role of history in judicial decision-making encapsulated in Vidal v. Elster,4 the past several terms have provided both significant insight into decisionmaking processes at the Court and substantial change to previously settled law. Its impacts are already the subject of a slew of writing, both in legal journals and the popular press.5 Largely missing from the conversation is discussion of the high Court’s impacts on district courts. While academics …

This study investigated the frequency of COVID-19 infections and hypertension cases among five different racial groups (White, Black, Asian, Native American, and Native Hawaiian). The study also examined the correlation between COVID-19 infections and hypertension with the hypothesis that because of disease predisposition and socioeconomic barriers, Black populations would have the highest rates of COVID-19 infections and hypertension. We used data from the Kaiser Family Foundation regarding COVID-19 cases and race in conjunction with Census population data to determine whether COVID-19 case frequency means differed by race. Data on hypertension and …
