Arbitrage-Free Pricing With Diffusion-Dependent Jumps, Hamza A. Virk, Yihren Wu, Majnu John Jan 2026

Arbitrage-Free Pricing With Diffusion-Dependent Jumps, Hamza A. Virk, Yihren Wu, Majnu John

Journal of Stochastic Analysis

Standard jump-diffusion models assume independence between jumps and diffusion components. We develop a multi-type jump-diffusion model where jump occurrence and magnitude depend on contemporaneous diffusion movements. Unlike previous one-sided models that create arbitrage opportunities, our framework includes upward and downward jumps triggered by both large upward and large downward diffusion increments. We derive the explicit no-arbitrage condition linking the physical drift to model pa- rameters and market risk premia by constructing an Equivalent Martingale Measure using Girsanov’s theorem and a normalized Esscher transform. This condition provides a rigorous foundation for arbitrage-free pricing in models with diffusion-dependent jumps.

Students’ Perceptions Of The Use Of Technology In Rural Elementary Schools, Evadney Moncrieffe - Jumpp

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Rapid technological advancements have transformed educational experiences, optimizing learning outcomes while providing interesting experiences to learners and educators. More insight was needed on how students perceive learning via technology, as this information can shape how teachers implement technology, especially in rural elementary schools. The main purpose of this research was to investigate the perceptions of students in rural areas between Grades 1–5 regarding the increased use of technology education. The research questions concerned how students in rural elementary schools perceive (a) the use of technology in education and (b) the quality of the teaching–learning process when using or mediating technological …

Fire Service Leadership Cost-Effective Strategies To Reduce Sudden Cardiac Death, Kathryn Marie Bernardo-Preston Jan 2026

Fire Service Leadership Cost-Effective Strategies To Reduce Sudden Cardiac Death, Kathryn Marie Bernardo-Preston

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Abstract A high incidence of on-duty firefighter sudden cardiac death (SCD) results in increased costs and decreased organizational performance. Fire department leaders are concerned about the financial burden of SCDs as they put strain on departmental budgets and subsequently limit operational readiness. Grounded in transformational leadership theory, the purpose of this qualitative pragmatic inquiry project was to explore how fire department leaders used cost-effective strategies to reduce SCD episodes among on-duty firefighters. Participants comprised six fire department leaders located on the East Coast of the United States who had successfully implemented strategies to minimize firefighter SCD. Data were collected using …

Faculty Perceptions Of Student Use Of Critical Thinking And Clinical Judgment In Prelicensure Alternative Pediatric Clinical Education, Vanessa Lee Lugo

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Both the changing healthcare environment and diverse pediatric care needs highlight the importance of exploring nontraditional clinical placements for entry-level pediatric nursing students to assess their critical thinking (CT) and clinical judgment (CJ). Many graduates are unprepared for pediatric care, creating safety risks and gaps in meeting children’s healthcare needs. The purpose of this study, guided by communities of practice theory, was to explore faculty experiences with and perceptions of CT and CJ use at alternative pediatric clinical sites for prelicensure undergraduate students in the Northeastern United States. Eleven nursing faculty with recent experience working in nontraditional pediatric sites and …

Defining And Evaluating Performative Activism: A Mixed Methods Approach, Caitlyn Renee Upton Massaro Jan 2026

Defining And Evaluating Performative Activism: A Mixed Methods Approach, Caitlyn Renee Upton Massaro

Theses and Dissertations

Activism, specifically Performative Activism (PA), has been difficult to study due to its wide variation and individual complexity. Study 1, a qualitative exploration of PA, involved interviews with 9 individuals, who were highly variable on the ADDRESSING Framework, regarding their experiences with and opinions on PA. Study 1 used Reflexive Thematic Analysis to identify 6 behavioral markers of PA which were used to create a definition of Performative Activism based on the voices and opinions of diverse people in activist spaces. Study 2 was an ABA (test-retest) design using fictional scenarios to train participants to identify PA. Participants were 54 …

Comparison Of Estimation Methods For The Contaminated Weibull Distribution And Applications To Medical Data, Yusuf Olatunji Bello, Farouq Mohammad A. Alam, Abdulkader Monir Daghistani Jan 2026

Comparison Of Estimation Methods For The Contaminated Weibull Distribution And Applications To Medical Data, Yusuf Olatunji Bello, Farouq Mohammad A. Alam, Abdulkader Monir Daghistani

The Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Science

The Contaminated Weibull (CWB) distribution was introduced as a robust alternative for modeling lifetime and survival data, particularly in scenarios involving outliers or contamination within the dataset. The CWB distribution accounted for a mixture of a reference Weibull distribution and contaminated observations. An extensive Monte Carlo simulation was conducted to assess the performance of various parameter estimation methods for the CWB distribution. Seven estimation methods were compared: Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE), Least Squares Estimation, Weighted Least Squares Estimation, Maximum Product Spacing Estimation, Cramér-von Mises Estimation, Anderson-Darling Estimation, and Robust Anderson-Darling Estimation. The results showed that MLE outperformed other methods in …

Using Westlaw And Lexis: The Many Ways In, Joshua Levine

Library Staff Online Writings

Researching the law depends on finding connections between information. No case or statute exists in a vacuum. The primary advantage of using Westlaw and Lexis is that they point out, on a high level, the connections between individual resources. It is disappointing how often students use natural language search terms or basic AI queries to find all their answers. Within the limitations of class time, it is essential to teach our students as much as possible how pieces of information are connected on these platforms.

Coming Disruptions In Corporate Law, Douglas Sarro, Edward J. Waitzer Jan 2026

Coming Disruptions In Corporate Law, Douglas Sarro, Edward J. Waitzer

All Papers

Corporate law’s dynamism precludes bold predictions about its future. Instead, we set out to highlight principles relevant to its trajectory and frame looming, unresolved issues. In that vein, artificial intelligence and other digital technologies raise considerable new opportunities for directors to enhance their oversight and for shareholders to be better informed and make more meaningful use of their governance rights. At the same time, the potential for wide-scale automation of corporate activities via these technologies amplifies corporate power and resulting risks of harm, adding new urgency to past prescriptions for rethinking the relationship between corporate and other areas of law …

Challenges In Alaskan Rural Pharmaceutical Delivery, Faith Ozer Green, Michael S. Jones

CAEPR Presentations

In remote Alaska, aviation supply chains are critical to maintaining timely flow of food and medicines to communities. We map these supply chains, and present preliminary findings from a pharmaceutical shipment data partnership with a state Tribal Health Organization. Mean and distributional shipment time are presented for communities on versus off the road system, and a multiyear regional map is presented outlining propensity for shipment times over one week. Ongoing work will incorporate multiple additional Tribal Health Organization datasets in a comprehensive econometric framework.

Hive Minds And Communities Of Practice: A Reflection On Implementing A Casual Peer Community Of Practice, Cathy Stephens Jan 2026

Hive Minds And Communities Of Practice: A Reflection On Implementing A Casual Peer Community Of Practice, Cathy Stephens

Staff Scholarship - Australia & Dubai

Wenger’s (1998) Communities of Practice theory proposes that knowledge is constructed socially, within communities which share knowledge domains and mutual goals. These communities act as common spaces where knowledge is negotiated and professional identities are formed. While a sense of belonging is pivotal to learner success and engagement, learners in online spaces can experience scarcity of informative social interactions. In this reflective essay, I examine the implementation of a pilot project to facilitate informal communities of practice within an online design course, and utilise observations and informal student feedback to interrogate the effectiveness of the pilot and enable future refinements.

Iatrogenic Ptosis Mimicking Cranial Nerve Iii Palsy Following Cosmetic Botox Injection: A Case Report, Moath Alshanqity, Lujain Filimban, Sadaqah Wazzan

Saudi Toxicology Journal

We present a 40-year-old female who developed iatrogenic ptosis mimicking cranial nerve III palsy after undergoing a cosmetic treatment to treat periorbital hyperpigmentation. Within 48 hours of receiving what was believed to be tranexamic acid (TXA) injections, the patient developed isolated left ptosis and generalized headache. Stroke, cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT), subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), and cranial nerve injury were among the differential diagnoses upon presentation. No insult to the central nervous system was found during the initial workup, which included neuroimaging. Although TXA was initially suspected due to its prothrombotic potential and the patient’s history of pulmonary embolism, it has …
