Background/Objectives: In recent years, MRI-based diffusion-weighted tractography techniques have uncovered additional white matter pathways that have significant roles in language processing and production. In this review, we aim to outline the major language centers of the brain and major language pathways along with association tracts that serve dual roles in both the language and limbic systems. According to the current dual-stream model of language processing, the brain's language network is organized into a dorsal stream, responsible for mapping sound to articulation, and a ventral stream, which maps sound to meaning.

Reframing The At-Risk Discourse: From Victim Blaming To Nurturing Resilience, Romana Mathews Jan 2026

Reframing The At-Risk Discourse: From Victim Blaming To Nurturing Resilience, Romana Mathews

Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive

Each year, approximately 1.2 million students drop out of high school in the United States—about one every 26 seconds (National Center for Education Statistics, 2023). This trend calls for a reexamination of how we understand and support students labeled “at-risk.” Traditional deficit-based models focus narrowly on challenges, often overlooking how students actively build resilience to navigate adversity. This study explores how successful high school graduates from rural Title I schools in the southern United States interpret the “at-risk” label and develop resilience. Guided by two research questions (1) How do these graduates interpret and make meaning of the “at-risk” label? …

A Systematic Review Of Cyber Risk Analysis Approaches For Wind Power Plants, Muhammad Arsal, Tamer Kamel, Hafizul Asad, Asiya Khan Jan 2026

A Systematic Review Of Cyber Risk Analysis Approaches For Wind Power Plants, Muhammad Arsal, Tamer Kamel, Hafizul Asad, Asiya Khan

School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics

Wind power plants (WPPs), as large-scale cyber–physical systems (CPSs), have become essential to renewable energy generation but are increasingly exposed to cyber threats. Attacks on supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) networks can cause cascading physical and economic impacts. The systematic synthesis of cyber risk analysis methods specific to WPPs and cyber–physical energy systems (CPESs) is a need of the hour to identify research gaps and guide the development of resilient protection frameworks. This study employs a Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol to review the state of the art in this area. Peer-reviewed studies published …

Drought × Herbivory Induce Leaf Trichomes In Soybean With Differential Impact On Its Major Herbivore Soybean Looper Chrysodeixis Includens, Manish Gautam, Karen Alanis, Rupesh R. Kariyat Jan 2026

Drought × Herbivory Induce Leaf Trichomes In Soybean With Differential Impact On Its Major Herbivore Soybean Looper Chrysodeixis Includens, Manish Gautam, Karen Alanis, Rupesh R. Kariyat

School of Integrative Biological & Chemical Sciences Faculty Publications

Trichomes have been well studied as a physical defense against stress. With climate change, stressors like drought and/or herbivory can have exacerbated effects on crop morpho-physiology. However, the interactive effects of such stressors on physical defenses like trichomes and their effects on herbivores is poorly understood. To examine this, soybean plants were exposed to a major herbivore, soybean looper (SBL) (Chrysodeixis includens Walker), under simulated drought conditions to examine the interactive effects of drought and herbivory (D × H) on leaf trichomes. Additionally, SBL growth traits were monitored under different leaf diet concentrations (10% and 20%) and trichome enriched diets …

Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of mortality worldwide, driven by complex, multi-scale mechanisms that span molecular, cellular, and organ-level dysfunction. Effective therapeutic strategies therefore require integrative approaches that link fundamental biology to translational applications. The 8th UC Davis CardioVascular Symposium gathered experts in ion channel biophysics, Ca2+ signaling, arrhythmia mechanisms, and cardiovascular physiology to discuss recent advances and define emerging priorities. This white paper synthesizes the key themes and consensus points that emerged, highlighting progress in two core domains: (1) advances in cardiovascular electrophysiology and arrhythmia mechanisms, and (2) spatiotemporal dynamics of Ca2+ signaling in cardiac and vascular function …

Adaptive Multi-Agent Intelligence: A Dynamic Data Management System For Enhanced Data Quality And Reconciliation, Anthony Taeyang Vigil Jan 2026

Adaptive Multi-Agent Intelligence: A Dynamic Data Management System For Enhanced Data Quality And Reconciliation, Anthony Taeyang Vigil

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Organizations struggle with data quality problems that cost them millions of dollars annually. Manual data cleanup and standardizing, also known as reconciliation, can take skilled analysts days to complete and can still contain human errors. This dissertation addresses this challenge by developing and validating the Origin Data Management System, which automates processes that traditionally require days of manual work. The system achieved up to 100% accuracy in standardizing vendor names and identifying CEO information across real-world test datasets from Jefferson County Public Schools, Forbes, and Fortune Magazines. Processing time dropped from days to minutes—a 96-fold improvement over manual methods. These …

Defining The Heterogeneous Molecular Landscape Of Lung Cancer Cell Responses To Epigenetic Inhibition, Chuwei Lin, Catherine M Sniezek, Christopher D Mcgann, Rashmi Karki, Ross M Giglio, Benjamin A Garcia, José L Mcfaline-Figueroa, Devin K Schweppe

2020-Current year OA Pubs

Epigenetic inhibitors exhibit powerful antiproliferative and anticancer activities. However, cellular responses to small-molecule epigenetic inhibition are heterogeneous and dependent on factors such as the genetic background and metabolic state of cells, as well as on-/off-target engagement of individual small-molecule compounds. The molecular study of the extent of this heterogeneity often measures changes in a single cell line. To more comprehensively profile the effects of small-molecule perturbations and their influence on heterogeneous cellular responses, we present a molecular resource based on the quantification of chromatin, proteome, and transcriptome remodeling due to histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACi) in non-isogenic cell lines. Through quantitative …

Business Communication Barriers In An Export-Oriented Company: A Case Study Of Pt. Xyz, Sartika Ekadyasa, Arius Krypton Jan 2026

Business Communication Barriers In An Export-Oriented Company: A Case Study Of Pt. Xyz, Sartika Ekadyasa, Arius Krypton

Jurnal Administrasi Bisnis Terapan

This study examines business communication barriers faced by PT. XYZ, an export-oriented company engaged in international business cooperation. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and literature review. The findings indicate that business communication is influenced by multiple interrelated barriers, including socio-anthro-psychological, technical, and ecological factors, which affect communication effectiveness during coordination, negotiation, and relationship management with foreign business partners. These barriers shape the quality of mutual understanding, trust, and operational efficiency in cross-border interactions. The study highlights the importance of integrated communication strategies that address social, cultural, psychological, technical, and environmental dimensions …
