Examining Trust And Its Influence On Emotional Self-Disclosure, Demetria Thomas-Masso
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Communication is an important aspect of a relationship of any kind as thoughts, feelings, and ideas are conveyed from one party to the other. However, communication styles vary, which can contribute to lack of comprehension of content among individuals resulting in misinterpretation. This study focused on examining whether trust, an identified variable indicative of a secure relationship, could influence individuals’ willingness to emotionally self-disclose within a romantic relationship. One hundred fifty-eight individuals were randomly placed into one of three groups (two were priming groups) for the purpose of assessing whether trust influenced their willingness to disclose their emotions to their …

Impact Of Internal Control, Cybersecurity Risk, And Competitive Advantage On Retail Cybersecurity Budget, Samuel William Pfanstiel
Impact Of Internal Control, Cybersecurity Risk, And Competitive Advantage On Retail Cybersecurity Budget, Samuel William Pfanstiel
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Retail organizations are driven to improve security posture for many reasons, including meeting financial regulation requirements, mitigating threats of data breach, and differentiating themselves within markets affected by customer perception. The problem was that little was known about how these drivers of internal control, cybersecurity risk, and competitive advantage impact retail cybersecurity budgets within the retail sector. The purpose of this quantitative nonexperimental correlational study was to describe the relationship between cybersecurity budget and drivers of internal control, cybersecurity risk, and competitive advantage among U.S.-based retail merchant organizations. Real options theory provided a foundation for explaining this decision-making process. Data …

Faculty Perceptions Of Organizational Learning In Indian University International Partnership Programs, Thomas Puduppulliparamban Anthappan
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Despite the increase in international twinning programs in Indian higher education since the mid-1990s, there is little understanding of how institutions facilitate faculty learning or adopt organizational refinement strategies, or how organizational learning contributes to institutional capacity. The purpose of this study was to understand the perspectives of faculty regarding the organizational learning that may occur at Indian higher education institutions that participate in international twinning programs. Participants were recruited using purposeful and chain sampling for a total of eight Indian higher education faculty who were employed at an Indian higher education institution, had participated in the twinning programs, and …

Relationship Between Incentive Program Costs, Incentive Payments, And Profitability, Claire Claire Turner
Relationship Between Incentive Program Costs, Incentive Payments, And Profitability, Claire Claire Turner
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The lack of profitability among primary care businesses can have harmful impacts on business operations. Primary care businesses owners must remain profitable to remain in business and provide quality health care to patients. Grounded in Freeman’s stakeholder theory, the purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to examine the relationship between incentive program costs, incentive payments, and profitability. Data were collected from 73 primary care physician business owners in the Inland Empire region of southern California. The multiple linear regression analysis results indicated the model was able to significantly predict profitability, F(2,70) = 1343.6, p <.001, R2 = .975. Incentive payments (t = 51.837, p < .001, = .928) was the only statistically significant predictor. Key recommendations include educating primary care physicians on the potential financial benefits of full participation in the commercial line of business pay-for-performance incentive programs and creating a campaign to bring in patients for wellness visits. The implications for positive social change include the potential for an additional revenue stream for primary care physician business owners, which could support more clinics, increasing patient access. Patients having better access to healthcare could positively affect the health and wellness of individuals in local communities.

Even though current perceptions of telemedicine may be positive, the challenge is knowing what constitutes the ingredients of patient satisfaction, particularly regarding age. This study examined two research questions concerning whether a patient’s age (independent variable) affected their comfort and willingness (dependent variable) to use telemedicine for their care. The health belief model was the theoretical framework and related to an individual's perception of their health behaviors and their willingness to change their …

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Approximately 84% of North American individual contributors work in organizations with functionally specialized structures where task uncertainty (TU) and task interdependence (TI) undermine cross-functional task execution. However, there is a lack of research into the TU and TI experiences of individual contributors under different organizational structures. It is important that senior leaders have this missing knowledge to inform structural decisions. The purpose of this generic qualitative, exploratory, snowball sampling study is to explore how individual contributors experience TU and TI following a reorganization from a functional to a horizontal organizational structure. In the current study, the research questions explored were …
