Defensive Publications Series

The present disclosure relates to an adaptive multi-dimensional real-time analytics engine (AMDRAE) for processing high-velocity data streams. The engine includes a temporal storage engine that ensures ACID properties while supporting real-time data ingestion. An adaptive partitioning system dynamically reorganizes data based on user query patterns, enhancing availability during repartitioning. Furthermore, a multi-dimensional indexing structure maintains indexed data across various attributes, providing rapid query responses. An integrated analytics module executes complex event processing and real-time aggregations without relying on external systems, delivering sub-millisecond response times for queries. The system supports high-frequency data ingestion with versioned data structures, ensuring efficient data handling …

Ai Self-Doubt Patterns: Behavioral Signals Of Over Alignment In Production Systems, Pranav Bhatnagar Mr Feb 2026

Ai Self-Doubt Patterns: Behavioral Signals Of Over Alignment In Production Systems, Pranav Bhatnagar Mr

Defensive Publications Series

Well-aligned systems are expected to be safe, helpful, and appropriately cautious. What is increasingly observed in production is something different: assistants that systematically undercut their own capability through excessive uncertainty language, unnecessary deferrals, and diluted recommendations. The output remains compliant, but the model behaves as if it has less confidence than its contextual knowledge supports. This paper formalizes that pattern as AI Self-Doubt and treats it as a measurable behavioral consequence of over-alignment pressure. The proposed framework introduces a Self-Doubt Signal (SDS) that detects when expressed uncertainty is disproportionate to task clarity and evidence availability. Rather than rewarding caution indiscriminately, …

System For Location Hierarchy Consolidation Across Data From Multiple Sources, Anastasia Chaloulakou, Arun Subramanian, Cj Cannon, Frank Michaud, Nicolas Darchis

Defensive Publications Series

Organizations often face challenges in integrating location data from multiple, siloed platforms—each with its own structure and format.  For example, different space management tools build device hierarchies with varying formats and levels of granularity, creating fundamental incompatibility between solutions.  Organizations often label their sites differently based on their products, making it difficult to identify duplicates and overlaps as there is no common identifier for a given site or location.  Moreover, organizations may need to perform extensive manual validations to ensure optimal integration with space management tools.  The additional layer of verification adds complexity and increases the risk of configuration errors …

Staff Education For Prevention And Management Of Obesity In Adolescents From Underserved Communities, Doris Mtarubukwa Feb 2026

Staff Education For Prevention And Management Of Obesity In Adolescents From Underserved Communities, Doris Mtarubukwa

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This DNP project implemented a targeted staff education intervention designed to bridge the practice gap in obesity management among adolescents in underserved communities. A comprehensive chart review of 45 patients revealed that only 3% of encounters adequately addressed obesity using evidence-based practice (EBP) guidelines, establishing the urgent need for healthcare provider education and competency development. Adolescents in underserved communities face complex barriers to health and wellness, with obesity representing a critical public health concern. The literature demonstrated that childhood and adolescent obesity serves as a significant risk factor for multiple chronic conditions in adulthood, including Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, coronary …

Enhancing Nurse-To-Nurse Relationships And Work Environments As Experienced Nurses Transition To New Clinical Specialties, Jennifer K. Chicca, Hope C. Hubbard Feb 2026

Enhancing Nurse-To-Nurse Relationships And Work Environments As Experienced Nurses Transition To New Clinical Specialties, Jennifer K. Chicca, Hope C. Hubbard

Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)

Nurses interact with a variety of healthcare professionals, including fellow nurses with different levels of authority and/or experience, as part of their day-to-day practice. As they interact with their nursing peers, nurses develop connections with unique aspects, benefits, and challenges, and these relationships can have healthy and unhealthy elements and relations can change over time. Notably, healthy nurse-to-nurse relationships build teams, increase collaboration, and strengthen effective communications (Institute for Safe Medication Practices, 2021) and thus professional relationships heavily influence the work environment. Unfortunately, violations of healthy relationships and work environments are common and these issues threaten adverse outcomes such as …

Deception And Deception Mitigation In Multi-Agent Systems, Nancirose Piazza Feb 2026

Deception And Deception Mitigation In Multi-Agent Systems, Nancirose Piazza

Doctoral Works at the University of New Haven

In multi-agent learning systems where agents interact in dynamic and complex environments, cooperation, coordination and communication are fundamental to achieving collective or individual goals. However, the rise of both emergent and induced deceptive behaviors pose significant challenges to system integrity and performance. Emergent deception and deceptive behaviors may manifest as a result of objective misalignment or incomplete situational awareness, leading to systematic failure in coordination. Agents that engage in intentional deceptive behaviors manipulate outcomes for their self-interest, undermining the fairness, security and reliability of these systems. Modeling and mitigating these forms of deception is critical to not only ensure effective …

Introduction: Rethinking Circulation In Italian Film And Media, Simone Brioni Dr., Rachel Johnson, Shelleen Greene

Department of English Faculty Publications

This introduction to the special issue ‘Rethinking Circulation in

Italian Film and Media’ reconsiders how Italian audiovisual culture

moves across borders – industrially, geographically, linguistically,

and digitally. By focusing on the complex dynamics of circulation,

the essays gathered here trace the evolving connections between

production and distribution, exploring how contemporary modes

of localization, translation, and platform curation shape the

visibility and cultural capital of Italian cinema in global contexts.

From streaming giants such as Netflix to curated services like

MUBI, and from film festival circuits to independent film-making

networks, the issue interrogates how transnational infrastructures

of distribution redefine what counts …

Vibrations from experimental setups and the environment are a persistent source of noise for low-temperature calorimeters searching for rare events, including neutrinoless double beta (0νββ) decay or dark matter interactions. Such noise can significantly limit experimental sensitivity to the physics case under investigation. Here, we report the detection of marine microseismic vibrations using mK-scale calorimeters. This study employs a multi-device analysis correlating data from CUORE, the leading experiment in the search for 0νββ decay with mK-scale calorimeters, and the Copernicus Earth Observation program, revealing the seasonal impact of Mediterranean Sea activity on CUORE’s …

The Impact Of Second-Tiered Leadership Behavior On Postmerger Experience In The Jamaica Constabulary Force, James Theophilus Golding Feb 2026

The Impact Of Second-Tiered Leadership Behavior On Postmerger Experience In The Jamaica Constabulary Force, James Theophilus Golding

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Following the merger of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and the Island Special Constabulary Force (ISCF) in May 2014, complaints emerged about inequitable treatment of former ISCF members, raising questions about social justice and breaches of the moral contract. Although prior research highlighted the importance of leadership in mergers, it neglected to examine the role of second-tier leadership. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to investigate the potential role of second-tiered JCF leadership behavior in these perceived social justice breaches. A transformational leadership framework, which centers on leaders’ behavior and communication to motivate followers, underpinned the study. Purposeful …

Teachers' Experiences Implementing Play-Based Learning Practices In Prekindergarten–Kindergarten Classrooms, Atiana T. Carroll

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The problem addressed through this study was that prekindergarten and kindergarten (PK-K) teachers in one large southern U.S. school district were not implementing play-based learning (PBL) practices despite the well-documented benefits of PBL in early childhood education. Guided by Knowles’s adult learning theory and Kolb’s experiential learning theory, the purpose of this basic qualitative study was to explore PK-K teachers’ experiences with implementing PBL and to identify what teachers need to embed PBL practices in PK-K classrooms. Semistructured interviews were conducted with nine PK-K teachers, and thematic analysis was applied to identify key patterns. Four themes emerged from the analysis: …

Exploring African American Officers’ Lived Experiences Of Racial Microaggressions In A Metropolitan Police Department, Kareem Mc Kenna

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

African American men in law enforcement encounter subtle racial microaggressions that contribute to emotional distress, identity conflict, and burnout. Although researchers have examined microaggressions, few studies have centered on African American men within a large metropolitan police department or explored how they interpret these experiences across tenure ranges. This qualitative phenomenological study explored how African American men with at least 2 years of service in frontline or first-line supervisory roles in a Southern California metropolitan police department experienced, interpreted, and coped with workplace racial microaggressions over the past five years. Guided by critical race theory, intersectionality, and Sue et al.’s …

Assessing Tree Species Diversity In Forests Using Combined Remote Sensing Data, Tufan Demi̇rel Feb 2026

Assessing Tree Species Diversity In Forests Using Combined Remote Sensing Data, Tufan Demi̇rel

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Tree species diversity (TSD) is a critical biological variable for ecosystem functioning and sustainable forest management. This study aimed to model TSD in forest ecosystems using spectral and texture metrics extracted from Sentinel-2, WorldView-3,and PlanetScope satellite imagery, and structural metrics derived from LiDAR data. Tree species data collected through field surveyswere used to calculate Shannon, Simpson, and species richness biodiversity indices. These biodiversity indicators were then related toexplanatory variables derived from remote sensing (RS) metrics. The Boruta algorithm was applied for variable selection and randomforest regression analysis was used for modeling. The results show that combining LiDAR and satellite data is …

Pro-Environmental Behavior: Its Moderating Role On The Relationship Between Environmental Identity And Climate Change Anxiety Among Gen Z Filipinos, Marc Eric S. Reyes, Alvin Joseph D. Mapoy, Victoria Ann Louis N. Aranzanso, Francheska Ysabel A. Avera, Beatrice O. Martinez, Mariah Michaela T. Ramos, Ryan Francis O. Cayubit

Makara Human Behavior Studies in Asia

Environmental identity refers to an individual’s understanding of how their environment shapes their identity and relationships. This connection may cause climate change anxiety and motivate pro-environmental behavior. Using an explanatory, cross-sectional design, we examined whether environmental identity (EI) predicts climate change anxiety (CCA) and whether pro-environmental behavior (PEB) moderates their relationship. Seven hundred sixty-one Filipinos aged 18–25 completed the Revised Environmental Identity Scale, Climate Change Anxiety Scale, and Pro-Environmental Behavior Scale. Our findings revealed a significant positive relationship between environmental identity and anxiety about climate change. However, moderation analysis indicated that environmental identity is only associated with climate change anxiety …

Barakat, Michele A. Scialla, Nithyasri Ramaswamy, Janet A. Deatrick, Kamyar Arasteh, Eric Sandler, Shannon N. Hammer, Anne E. Kazak

Department of Pediatrics Faculty Papers

BACKGROUND: Universal, systematic psychosocial screening in childhood cancer assures care matched to need and achieves a Standard of Psychosocial Care. It is accomplished inconsistently due to barriers at the family, provider, and institution level, potentially contributing to disparities in care and outcomes. We conducted a comparative effectiveness trial of two implementation strategies of an established measure (Psychosocial Assessment Tool; PAT3.0) across 18 children's cancer programs to identify strategies that resulted in higher levels of screening in English and Spanish (penetration, health equity). We also examined uptake at the institution level (adoption).

METHODS: Sites were randomized to Strategy I (web-based training …

Gendered Harms In Armed Conflict: International Legal Responses To The Gendered Effects Of The War In Sudan, Naima Dams Feb 2026

Gendered Harms In Armed Conflict: International Legal Responses To The Gendered Effects Of The War In Sudan, Naima Dams

Theses and Dissertations

This thesis interrogates how international law conceptualizes, prosecutes, and ultimately limits the understanding of sexual violence in contexts of war and displacement. Drawing on feminist legal theory, postcolonial critique, and ethnographic fieldwork with Sudanese women displaced in Egypt, it questions the dominant legal framing of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) as episodic, exceptional, and individualized. Instead, it reveals sexual violence as structural, continuous, and embedded in the everyday realities of racialized, gendered, and colonial harm.

Through ethnographical narratives, the study exposes how survivors' experiences often exceed the legibility frameworks of humanitarian and legal institutions, which prioritize spectacular, forensic evidence over slow, …
