Leveraging Technology To Mitigate Cognitive Load In Nursing Education: An Integrative Review, Joset Brown, Dione Sandiford, Caroline Meza
Leveraging Technology To Mitigate Cognitive Load In Nursing Education: An Integrative Review, Joset Brown, Dione Sandiford, Caroline Meza
International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)
Background: Prelicensure nursing students face significant cognitive challenges as they balance academic coursework with rigorous clinical training [1]. These demands often exceed cognitive capacity, leading to cognitive overload which hinders information processing and retention [2]. Cognitive load refers to the mental effort required to process information within working memory; while cognitive overload occurs when intrinsic, extraneous, and germane demands exceed this capacity [3,4]. Integrating technology-driven strategies offers opportunities to optimize working memory and enhance learning outcomes.
Purpose: The purpose of this integrative review was to synthesize current evidence on factors influencing cognitive load and examine technology-based interventions designed to mitigate …

More Than Mechanics: Caring For Students’ Emotions, Identity, And Growth In Writing, Anna Gale, Brenda Elliott, Nancy J. Frank
International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)
Developing nursing students as scholarly writers requires dedicated time and faculty support. One strategy faculty use to advance students’ growth is scaffolded writing assignments. Unfortunately, writing remains problematic in the profession. One potential rationale for this is faculty may focus too heavily on giving feedback specific to grammar and writing mechanics, which can underscore the value of writing, Students experience a range of emotions when receiving feedback on their written work, from joy to disappointment, which shapes the learning experience, self-efficacy, and identity development.
The researchers conducted a qualitative study and subsequent secondary analysis of interview data from 16 nurse …

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
This study examined adolescent opioid misuse in the United States and the role of school-based prevention. Guided by the health belief model, the purpose was to test whether participation in school-based drug prevention lessons was associated with past-year opioid misuse among adolescents ages 14–17 and whether race and gender moderated that association. This quantitative, cross-sectional, nonexperimental secondary analysis used the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (N = 8,965). Analyses included weighted descriptives, chi-square tests, and complex-samples logistic regression controlling for age and socioeconomic status. The sample included adolescents ages 14–17 with complete data on school-based prevention participation, …
Protective Factors Among African American Offspring Of Teen Parents, Janelle Ewing
Protective Factors Among African American Offspring Of Teen Parents, Janelle Ewing
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Adolescent pregnancy remains a major public health and social issue, but research has primarily focused on risk factors and not the protective factors that contribute to resilience among those who successfully break the cycle. This qualitative study explored protective factors that African American adult offspring of teenage parents identified as supporting them in avoiding teenage pregnancy and parenthood. The study was theoretically grounded in Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory, which was used to explore the role of influence across environmental systems in participants’ developmental outcomes. The primary research question was “How do African American adult offspring of teenage parents describe the …

How Often Do Managers Withhold Information?, Jeremy Bertomeu, Paul Ma, Ivan Marinovic
Olin Business School Faculty Research
We estimate a dynamic model of voluntary disclosure, using annual management forecasts of earnings, that features a manager with pri ce motives and an uncertain but persistent information endowment. Our estimates imply that: (i) managers face disclosure frictions 35% of the time; (ii) conditional on being informed, managers withhold information 17% of the time; and ( iii) conditional on being silent, managers possess information 24% of the time. Managers’ strategic withholding motives increase investors’ uncertainty about earnings by 3%. We find that managers’ price motives reduce strategic withholding by one-third, in response to investors’ increased skepticism in the event of …

HP case—tenants (35 rent-stabilized residents) establish ample need under CPLR 408 for narrowly tailored discovery. Seven interrogatories and ten documentary demands regarding elevator and boiler installation and maintenance are outside petitioners' custody or control. DOB and HPD violation records are insufficient alone: agency inspections measure operationality on a single visit and do not capture sporadic recurring outages or systemic failures indicating a need for replacement, as alleged. Respondents bear minimal burden; no possession-recovery urgency in HP enforcement proceedings.

An Interval-Valued Spherical Fuzzy Critic–Waspas Framework For Prioritizing Healthcare Delivery Models To Enhance Patient Satisfaction Under Uncertainty, Mariam Hamada, Ahmed Samy, Mohamed M. Abdelhafeez, Shrouk El-Amir
Neutrosophic Systems with Applications
Selecting an appropriate healthcare delivery model is important for improving the quality of healthcare services and enhancing patient satisfaction. However, this decision is complex because it involves several criteria, uncertainty, and different expert opinions. To handle this uncertainty, this paper uses Interval-Valued Spherical Fuzzy Sets (IVSFSs), which allow experts to express their evaluations more flexibly. This paper proposes an integrated interval-valued spherical fuzzy CRITIC-WASPAS approach to prioritize healthcare delivery models. The CRITIC method is used to determine the objective weights of the evaluation criteria, while the WASPAS method is used to rank the healthcare delivery models. Expert evaluations are expressed …

Hyperlattice-Valued And Superhyperlattice-Valued Uncertain Sets With Decision Applications, Takaaki Fujita, Ajoy Kanti Das, Sankar Prasad Mondal, Arif Mehmood, Arkan Ghaib
Neutrosophic Systems with Applications
Fuzzy set theory enriches classical sets by assigning to each element a graded membership in [0,1], thereby capturing partial inclusion and uncertainty. The notion of an Uncertain Set further abstracts this idea by allowing membership to take values in a general degree-domain, providing a unified language that subsumes fuzzy, intuitionistic fuzzy, neutrosophic, plithogenic, and related models. On the algebraic side, a hyperlattice replaces one lattice operation by a multivalued hyperoperation, enabling the representation of ambiguous or non-deterministic combinations, while a superhyperlattice iterates this structure through powerset lifting to obtain higher-order layers of interaction. Motivated by these developments, we introduce HyperLattice-valued …

A Unified Framework For Neutrosophic Estimation Using Fractional Power, Exponential, And Logarithmic Functions With Bivariate Auxiliary Information, Anchal Yadav, Anuj Yadav
Neutrosophic Systems with Applications
This study develops a generalized neutrosophic ratio-type estimator for estimating the population mean by incorporating information from two auxiliary variables under Simple Random Sampling Without Replacement (SRSWOR). The proposed methodology extends the conventional single-auxiliary-variable approach by jointly incorporating bivariate auxiliary information within the neutrosophic framework, thereby accounting for uncertainty, indeterminacy, and inconsistency in the available information. The bias and mean squared error of the proposed estimator are derived using first-order approximations, and the corresponding efficiency conditions are established through theoretical comparisons with existing neutrosophic estimators. The performance of the proposed estimator is further examined using a real medical dataset represented …

A Realist Review Of The Remediation Of Professionalism Lapses In Undergraduate Medical Students (Restore 3), Ross Raymond-Jones, Tom Gale, Nicola Brennan, Marie Bryce, Tristan Price
Peninsula Medical School
IntroductionProfessionalism is a core element of medical curricula worldwide and remains a cross-cutting theme across all aspects of a medical programme. When a medical student fails to demonstrate the expected attributes and behaviours, medical schools have a duty to step in, and where appropriate, offer remediation that aims to facilitate behavioural change. There is sparse explanatory theory on this complex topic, resulting in little evidence-based guidance for medical schools to utilise. This review aims to explain how, why, to what extent and in what circumstances professionalism remediation works for undergraduate medical students.MethodWe conducted a realist review that aligns with the …

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)
Background and Significance: Therapeutic communication is a core competency in nursing and a consistently prioritized workforce requirement (Broeckelman-Post et al., 2022; McGunagle & Zizka, 2020; AACN, 2021). As AI and digital learning technologies advance, nursing programs are exploring technology-enabled strategies to better prepare students for emotionally complex patient interactions. Although AI chatbots have shown value in clinical training and simulation (Chang et al., 2021; Srinivasan et al., 2024), limited evidence exists on their use to prepare students for difficult or sensitive conversations. Addressing this gap supports student resilience and prepares future nurses for communication-intensive roles.
Purpose and Aims: This study …

Ai-Enabled Nudging For Nursing-Led Prevention And Health Equity, Pattama S. Ulrich, Katherine M. Pallas, Michael Joseph Dino, Jean W. Davis
International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)
Health systems face escalating burdens from physical inactivity, poor nutrition, and related noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), which disproportionately affect socioeconomically and clinically susceptible populations [1], [2]. Concurrently, artificial intelligence (AI), digital health technologies, and wearable devices are increasingly shaping health decision making and behavior change interventions [3], [4]. Nudge theory, grounded in behavioral economics, offers a noncoercive approach to influencing behavior through choice architecture while preserving individual autonomy [5], [6]. As AI enables nudges to become more personalized and scalable, conceptual clarity is needed to guide ethical, nurse-led applications that advance prevention and health equity [7], [8].
This work conceptually examines …

Himalayan Research Papers Archive
On the morning of 26 August 2026, the mountains above Nepal’s northern frontier delivered a disaster of almost unimaginable speed and scale. A massive mass of ice, rock, and sediment detached in the high Himalayan terrain near the Nepal–Tibet border, descended roughly 1,200 metres, interacted with the Lhende Khola system, and generated a debris-rich flood that surged through the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river corridors, destroying settlements, markets, roads, bridges, hydropower facilities, and an international border crossing and transforming them into fields of mud, boulders, and wreckage within minutes (ICIMOD, 2026b; Reuters, 2026a). Satellite analysis indicates that a substantial section …

This study aims to model and analyze a Microsoft Excel-based open-channel hydraulics simulation as a contextual learning resource for technical vocational education. A quantitative modeling approach was employed using Manning’s formula with five flow-depth scenarios ranging from 0.70 to 0.90 m, while the channel bottom width of 0.60 m, Manning’s roughness coefficient of 0.01, and channel slope of 0.015 were kept constant. The simulation was used to calculate the wetted area, wetted perimeter, hydraulic radius, flow velocity, and discharge for each scenario. The results showed that increasing flow depth systematically changed the hydraulic characteristics, with discharge increasing from 1.819 to …
