Wine influencers have emerged as one of the crucial elements in shaping consumer perceptions and behaviours. However, the specific characteristics of these influencers that effectively influence consumer attitudes, purchase intentions, and actual buying decisions remain inadequately understood. Therefore, using the Elaboration Likelihood Model, this study examines the impact of wine influencers’ characteristics on consumers’ attitudes, purchase intentions, and actual buying behaviour. A survey of 404 social media users was conducted using a structured questionnaire. The structural equation modelling analysis found that perceived credibility impacts attitudes toward influencers but not recommended brands. However, perceived expertise and trust strongly predict attitudes toward …

Background: Cassava leaf disease detection is a major problem since it is very difficult to identify the disease in naked-eye observation and even experts such as agricultural scientists can fail in this task. The approach we use in this paper has the potential to overcome this problem. Materials and Methods: In this, we propose an approach based on artificial intelligence for leaf disease detection using deep learning with generative adversarial networks (GAN). Our experimental study used a dataset including 12880 cassava leaf pictures generated using CycleGAN showing five major disease classes. In order to avoid overfitting, a GAN architecture is …

This paper reemphasizes the importance of material consideration to design a low pull-in voltage MEMS switch. We have simulated different variants of a cantilever-based MEMS switch with variations in length, thickness, and material of the cantilever beam. The simulation study provides an understanding of a suitable cantilever design to achieve low operating voltage MEMS switch. We have further simulated the mechanical properties of these designs of the cantilever beam for a low operating voltage by computing the equivalent electrostatic force which is the input to the mechanical simulations performed using ANSYS. The electromechanical simulation provided similar trends of deflection and …

Epilepsy (EP) is a persistent neurological condition of chronic brain disorder characterized by repeated seizures and causes psychological issues such as anxiety and depression. There is a need to detect the presence of epilepsy at an earlier stage with the help of technological intervention. Early detection of epilepsy can help medical practitioners treat patients effectively and in a better way. Electroencephalography (EEG) signals are more suitable for monitoring brain activity and detecting brain disorders. In this paper, we propose a deep learning based approach for the early detection of epilepsy via EEG Spectrogram images. The proposed approach is 3-fold. First, …

Amplifying Voices Of Postsecondary Outcomes For Physically Disabled Students A Qualitative Research Study, Jessica Keogh
West Chester University Doctoral Projects
The present qualitative research study analyzed and amplified the voices of physically disabled and/or chronically ill students' perspectives of their postsecondary transition process. Previous transition research dating back to 1983, just a decade after the passage of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, focuses on students with cognitive disabilities, Autism, and Intellectual Disabilities (Will, 1983). From my professional and lived experiences, there appears to be a gap in postsecondary transition services for youth with physical disabilities, which is further substantiated in previous bodies of research (Faggella-Luby et al., 2014; Targetta et al., 2013). This research study is important as it …

Impact On Abortion Rates: An Interrupted Time Series Analysis Of Planned Parenthood’S Refusal Of Title X Family Planning Funding, Carrissa Griffing
West Chester University Doctoral Projects
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) decided to reject federal family planning funds when faced with a “gag rule” that would prevent PPFA from providing abortion services. The economic theory of scarcity and everyday human experience teach that a reduction in available resources or means will necessarily impact the ends to which those means are expended. This dissertation tests the prediction of economic theory that a reduction in available means results in a sacrifice in given ends, like a paycheck reduction might result in less food on a family dinner table. Planned Parenthood’s behavior is examined in light of this …

Aspect-based opinion mining has become a significant information extraction technique based on natural language processing, driven by the growing volume of online user-generated content. This approach aims to determine the opinion polarity of specific aspects within a given context. The existing models primarily target explicit aspects, often neglecting the identification of implicitly mentioned aspect-based opinion polarity. Consequently, these existing models result in low classification accuracy and struggle to identify multiple aspects within a specific context. This paper proposes an aspect-based attention model (AAM) to address these limitations. We integrate a pre-trained BERT model with an attention mechanism to perform aspect …

Performance Reliability And Safety Index For Region Vii Highways, Aemal J. Khattak, Mm Shakiul Haque, Li Zhao
Mid-America Transportation Center: Final Reports and Technical Briefs
Roadway performance measures are used for operating, planning, and design purposes to improve services for road users. Simple statistics of the performance metrics such as measures of central tendency (e.g., mean, median) are often used for making operational and planning decisions. Even though such statistics are useful, they are, more than often, not comprehensive enough for making insightful operational and planning decisions. Consequently, performance reliability measures, which attempt to capture the day-to-day variability in performance, have the potential to benefit the areas of operation, planning, and design. Traffic data from Intelligent Transportation System facilitates the measurement of the reliability of …

Textile Crossroads: Exploring European Clothing, Identity, and Culture across Millennia
This paper argues that we need to focus on past people (rather than just objects) in our narratives and museum displays to engage museum visitors more effectively. It will demonstrate that we can use a combination of well-researched physical and digital prehistoric garment reconstructions to implement more people-centered approaches also used in living history, which bring the past to life and allow visitors to literally come face-to-face with long-dead people. In this way, visitors can relate to past people on an emotional level, which helps them to learn much more about past life than many traditional displays. After outlining how …

Textile Crossroads: Exploring European Clothing, Identity, and Culture across Millennia
Textiles are particularly complex and labor-intensive structures, thus their constructive elements, such as fibers and yarns, as well as the final textile products (e.g., threads, cords, fabrics, and applied decoration) reveal a range of important technical, technological, and sociocultural information. In this paper, we discuss the analysis of excavated textiles at two levels:
1) Technical analysis that offers basic information about the qualities of examined textile samples.
2) Technological analysis that provides insights into technology, social relations of production, and the level of craft specialization or production modes.
Both analyses offer new evidence for environmental resources, sustainability, trade, and exchange, …

Textile Crossroads: Exploring European Clothing, Identity, and Culture across Millennia
Textiles and clothing constitute a fundamental element of our cultural past, present, and future. Therefore, they were also represented in many mediums, such as iconographic depictions and literature. Images are a source of visual and mental illustration and are often dependent on the viewer’s perspective. As a result, the representations of textiles convey social constructions and their cultural perception. Their study is the focal point of this article: The ways in which textiles and clothing are described by the imagery shown in Greek and Roman statuary and iconography, as well as in contemporary Albanian literature and mythology.
Representations illustrate the …

Textile Crossroads: Exploring European Clothing, Identity, and Culture across Millennia
The demographics of the Roman world suggest that it was a world full of children. Demographers argue that in order simply to maintain population levels in a period where life expectancy was very short by modern standards, and infant mortality high, a woman should, on average, have six children, on the assumption that not all would live to adulthood. Despite much research in the last fifty years, children still remain partly invisible in the Roman world. This is primarily because they leave little evidence produced by themselves and are seen through the prism of adult eyes. Inevitably, given the nature …
