A substantial body of evidence exists demonstrating that exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) poses a risk to human health. Data from epidemiological studies of those exposed occupationally or environmentally demonstrate adverse health risks, and these health effects are concordant with data from toxicological studies. Systematic reviews, conducted by agencies, organizations, and independent scientists that synthesize and integrate these data streams, have concluded that a range of health risks arise from PFAS exposure, including different types of cancer, especially kidney and testicular cancer, metabolic alterations such as increased liver enzymes and increased cholesterol, immune dysfunction such as reduced vaccination …

Esg-Based Litigation: A Solution To Social Media Companies’ Immunization From Liability For Human Trafficking On Their Platforms, Grace Dore May 2026

Esg-Based Litigation: A Solution To Social Media Companies’ Immunization From Liability For Human Trafficking On Their Platforms, Grace Dore

Brooklyn Journal of Corporate, Financial & Commercial Law

Social media platforms have transformed communication, but they have also become a critical tool for human traffickers, who use them to recruit victims, maintain control, and facilitate illegal activities. Despite this, social media companies have largely avoided legal accountability due to the broad immunity provided by Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (“CDA”), which courts have interpreted to shield platforms from lawsuits arising from user activity. Congress has sought to address this gap through legislation such as the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (“TVPA”) and the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act (“FOSTA”). However, these efforts …

Regulatory Whiplash: The Sec’S Proxy Advisor Reversal And A Delaware-Inspired Sliding Scale Framework For Judicial Review, Alexandra Pellegrino May 2026

Regulatory Whiplash: The Sec’S Proxy Advisor Reversal And A Delaware-Inspired Sliding Scale Framework For Judicial Review, Alexandra Pellegrino

Brooklyn Journal of Corporate, Financial & Commercial Law

The Securities and Exchange Commission’s 2020 regulation of proxy advisory firms, and its abrupt 2022 recission, triggered a consequential circuit split that exposes a deeper tension in administrative law: how courts should review agency reversals in regulatory environments where stability and adaptability are both essential. In National Association of Manufacturers v. Securities Exchange Commission, the Fifth Circuit invalidated the recission for failing to adequately address reliance interests and prior factual findings. In contrast, the Sixth Circuit in Chamber of Commerce v. Securities Exchange Commission upheld the agency’s reversal under a more deferential interpretation of Federal Communications Commission v. Fox Television …

From Code To Calm: Cold Debriefing And Spiritual Sessions For Icu Nurses, Cailin Ford Bsn, Rn-Bc, Va-Bc, Taryn Sheehy Bsn, Rn, Ccrn, Julie Mackenzie Msn, Rn Agcns, Jeanne Hlebichuk May 2026

From Code To Calm: Cold Debriefing And Spiritual Sessions For Icu Nurses, Cailin Ford Bsn, Rn-Bc, Va-Bc, Taryn Sheehy Bsn, Rn, Ccrn, Julie Mackenzie Msn, Rn Agcns, Jeanne Hlebichuk

Nursing

Debriefing after critical events promotes communication, teamwork, and performance improvement. Concurrently, a positive spiritual climate is also linked to improved teamwork and safety climates, as well as reducing RN intent to leave and turnover (Celano et al., 2022). Clinical RNs engaged with professional governance identified an opportunity to expand on a nurse-led hot debriefing project and incorporate a second phase consisting of cold and spiritual debriefing. In this second phase, cold and spiritual debriefing was piloted in a 30-bed cardiovascular ICU, staffed with 110 RNs. First, standard cold debriefing materials were developed with organization specific resources. Two RN project leads …

Optimization And Energy Efficiency Analysis Of An Automatic Feed Mixer With A Rotating Drum Mechanism, Kris Witono, Talifatim Machfuroh, Nurlia Pramita Sari, Lisa Agustriyana, Aini Lostari

Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science and Technology (JMEST)

Energy-efficient feed mixer machines are important for improving the productivity and sustainability of small and medium-scale livestock farms. Previous studies primarily focused on either structural performance or mixing efficiency, with limited studies integrating both aspects. Therefore, this study evaluated an automatic rotating-drum feed mixer by combining Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis and energy modeling. The study used FEM simulations for different materials, namely A36 steel alloy, stainless steel 304, aluminium 6061, and galvanized steel, with thicknesses of 3 mm and 4 mm, as well as different drum systems. The FEM results showed that all evaluated materials met the minimum safety …

Supported Storytelling Through The ‘Life Threads’ Approach For Family Members After Traumatic Brain Injury: “We've Been Through All Of This Trauma, And You're Giving Me Some String?, Alyson Norman

School of Psychology

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) brings inevitable and significant changes for family members, yet there is little to relieve their trauma, resolve their grief, or prevent ongoingsuffering. The aim of this qualitative pre-feasibility study was to understand theclinical potential of storytelling for families after TBI using the ‘Life Threads’ approach(LTA). An in-depth inductive qualitative design was adopted within an interpretivist paradigm. Following informed consent, participants took part in an online focusgroup, then engaged with the LTA over four weeks before completing an unstructured, in-person interview. A final focus group explored participants’ reflections on theLTA. A purposive sample of 20 family members …

The Impact Of Tgfβ Conditioning And Socs3 Expression On Cytokine Signal Transduction And Inflammatory Gene Expression In Fibroblasts, Morgan Anderson-Crannage May 2026

The Impact Of Tgfβ Conditioning And Socs3 Expression On Cytokine Signal Transduction And Inflammatory Gene Expression In Fibroblasts, Morgan Anderson-Crannage

NYMC Student Theses and Dissertations

Inflammation is a major driver in many aspects of recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB) pathology, including impaired wound healing, fibrosis, and potentially cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma development. Fibroblasts, as key stromal cells in the dermis, are responsible for orchestrating inflammatory responses through the secretion of cytokines and chemokines upon stimulation with IL-1α or IL-6. Suppressor of Cytokine Signaling 3 (SOCS3) functions as a negative feedback regulator of cytokine signaling and has emerged as a key modulator of inflammatory responses in immune cells and fibroblasts. Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGFβ), a known driver of fibrosis in RDEB, has been implicated in …

The Heterogeneous Response Of Astrocytes In Different Brain Regions Under Metabolic Stress, Pawan Kumar Thapaliya May 2026

The Heterogeneous Response Of Astrocytes In Different Brain Regions Under Metabolic Stress, Pawan Kumar Thapaliya

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Astrocytes play a central role in maintaining ionic homeostasis, neurotransmitter clearance, and brain en-ergy metabolism. Their excitability, reflected in activity-evoked intracellular sodium (Na+, [Na+]i) and calcium (Ca2+,[Ca+]i) dynamics, is increasingly recognized as a critical determinant of neuronal function and vulnerability, particularly under metabolic stress. Despite their importance, the mechanisms underlying astrocytic ionic signaling and its regional heterogeneity remain incompletely understood. In this thesis, I developed detailed computational and biophysical models to investigate astrocytic Na+ and Ca2+ dynamics, their bioenergetic consequences, and the roles of key ion transporters under physiological and metabolically stressed conditions, validating the models against experi- mental data. …

Decoding Spatial Transcriptomics Across Multicellular And Subcellular Resolutions, Chongyue Zhao, Hanqiu Zhao, Zhiyu Dai, Et Al. May 2026

Decoding Spatial Transcriptomics Across Multicellular And Subcellular Resolutions, Chongyue Zhao, Hanqiu Zhao, Zhiyu Dai, Et Al.

2020-Current year OA Pubs

Current whole-genome spatial transcriptomics (ST) platforms, which range from multicellular (e.g., Visium) to subcellular resolution (e.g., Visium HD, Stereo-seq), face significant challenges in accurately decomposing or aggregating spots into single cells-the fundamental units of biological activity. To date, most existing computational methods operate at the spot level, and no method has effectively reconstructed transcriptomes at single-cell resolution. In this study, we present STARS (Spatial Transcriptomics across Resolutions for Single Cells). Leveraging Vision Transformer model and contrastive learning, STARS combines high-resolution histology images with spot-level transcriptomics data to reconstruct single-cell-level gene expression from multicellular and subcellular platforms. We demonstrate the advantage …

Golden Hour Open Conceptual Architecture For Citizen-Initiated Structured Urgency Signaling, Jaime Gerardo Figoni Him May 2026

Golden Hour Open Conceptual Architecture For Citizen-Initiated Structured Urgency Signaling, Jaime Gerardo Figoni Him

Defensive Publications Series

Abstract

Golden Hour proposes a minimalist, open, and low-bandwidth emergency signaling architecture that enables citizens to transmit structured urgency information during the critical first hour of a disaster. The system combines a single-tap severity code (Red / Yellow / Green), a brief guided question sequence, and resilient transmission paths to create a live, color-coded situational heat map for emergency responders.

By treating emergency response as a physics problem of controlling informational entropy, Golden Hour enables a near-instantaneous reduction in chaos while fostering voluntary human solidarity. The system is designed as a complement to, not a replacement for, existing emergency services.
