Why Do Consumers Switch? The Role Of Relational Uncertainty In Service Failures, Jungyun Hur, Soocheong (Shawn) Jang Oct 2024

Why Do Consumers Switch? The Role Of Relational Uncertainty In Service Failures, Jungyun Hur, Soocheong (Shawn) Jang

Journal of Tourism Insights

This study explores the role of relational uncertainty in consumers’ switching intentions in a service failure encounter. The results reveal that in an established consumer-service provider relationship, relational uncertainty plays a significant role in the process of consumers’ switching intentions whereas dissatisfaction with service failures does not influence switching intentions. Further, the findings suggest that relational uncertainty mediates the effect of perceived loss on switching intentions. These findings were integrated into a discussion of theoretical and managerial implications for effective service management emphasizing the influential role of long-term relational value in comparison with incident-specific transaction value in an established relationship.

Host And The Hosting! Modelling The Post Disposition Behavior Of The Providers Of Shared Accommodation, Diksha Shingari, Dr. Hansdeep Kaur

Journal of Tourism Insights

The present study makes an endeavor to apply the consumption values, erstwhile associated with the acquisition side to the disposition of accommodation sharing services and their impact on the satisfaction of the hosts which would further impact their continued disposition intention. The study employs self-administered questionnaire to collect data from accommodation providers listed on Airbnb, from the state of Punjab, with a total of 229 valid responses. The findings indicate that economic gains, empowerment and cosmopolitan capital contribute significantly to host’s satisfaction, thereby positively affecting their continued disposition intentions. Contrarily, community belongingness and sustainability turned out to be insignificant contributors. …

Nursing And Supply Chain As Critical Partners In Enterprise-Level Efforts To Prevent Hemodialysis Associated Central Line-Associated Blood Stream Infections: A Case Study, Dana L. Blayney, Julia Moody, James Pittman, Noah Zanville, Missy Pennington, Sarah A. Fraker, E. Jackie Blanchard

HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine

Background

Preventing central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) remains a critical national focus for health care facilities. This notion is particularly true for patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD), where the associated mortality rates for HD-CLABSI range from 12% to 25%. Studies show that the use of central venous catheter (CVC) end caps coated with antiseptic agents, such as chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) on HD-CVCs, can reduce the incidence of CLABSIs. However, issues ranging from difficulty finding and maintaining an adequate (and fully standardized) supply of CHG-impregnated HD end caps and ensuring consistent practice by clinicians can prevent the use of this valuable tool. …

Infection Prevention: The Small But Mighty Teams In Health Care, E. Jackie Blanchard

HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine

Infection prevention is a team within health care facilities and systems whose members are vital to reducing and mitigating patient harm secondary to infectious disease. Infection preventionists are subject matter experts who reside in the quality department and are responsible for multiple areas beyond infectious disease spread. They assist nursing teams, employee health programs, and epidemiologists in decreasing the spread of illness. They are widely under-recognized, though they have a significant impact on the overall stability of the health care system and the communities they serve.

A Statistical Look At The Supreme Court's 2009 Term, John M. Schleb Ii, Colin Glennon, Hemant Sharma

Tennessee Journal of Law and Policy

Whether a change in membership occurs or not, every Supreme Court term presents a unique set of controversies and decisions for legal scholars to examine. Herein, we offer a discussion of the Court's recently completed 2009-2010 term. Rather than analyzing specific opinions in detail (as many have already done), we generate a comprehensive statistical analysis of justice voting behavior for the term. In particular, we examine consensus and division on the Court, the ideological tenor of the term, voting alignments among the justices, the production of opinions, and the Court's overall ideological spectrum based on individual voting patterns. Ultimately, we …

Public-Private Partnerships In Tourism Development: An Analysis Of The Kuwait Experience, Obaid Al Otaibi Oct 2024

Public-Private Partnerships In Tourism Development: An Analysis Of The Kuwait Experience, Obaid Al Otaibi

The Geographical Bulletin

Tourism and recreation has become one of the important and influential sectors in most of the modern economies. This sector has been accepted as one of the alternative sources of national income, employment, and foreign exchange. The state of Kuwait has many potentialities in tourism and recreation, and exploitation of this leads to more diversification of the economy besides augmenting its contribution to the GDP. Because Kuwait is an import oriented economy, it requires hard currencies (foreign exchange) to meet the import cost as well as to maintain stability in the international market. To compensate for the revenue fall stemmed …

Journal of Applied Disciplines

Interprofessional healthcare teams are essential for meeting the needs of our older population. To prepare for interprofessional collaboration, educational programs should offer opportunities for interprofessional education. We created a four-hour geriatric interprofessional workshop addressing cognition, macular degeneration, dysphagia, home safety, fall risk, and pharmacotherapy to examine student perceptions of working in interprofessional teams and their attitudes toward geriatric patients. Participants included 189 second-year medical (MD) students, 41 first-year occupational therapy (OT) students, and 36 second-year physical therapy (PT) students. We utilized a sequential explanatory mixed-method approach. Data analysis comprised descriptive statistics, paired t-tests for the pre/post surveys, and inductive content …

If It Ain't Broke, Break It - How The Tennessee General Assembly Dismantled And Destroyed Tennessee's Uniquely Excellent Justice System, Penny J. White

Tennessee Journal of Law and Policy

In Tennessee, the wolf has entered the fold. The Tennessee General Assembly has assumed judicial power by reasserting its role as the “preeminent” branch of government and reclaiming its historic dominance over the state judiciary.5 This unfortunate development has led me to write this article for a variety of reasons. For future generations, I wish to chronicle the events that led to the dismantling of Tennessee’s unique, high-quality judicial system. 6 In this way, I seek to archive essential information for those who trumpet the important role that fair courts play in our society. I hope to inspire vigilance, triggering …

Dictionaries Denied: Information Poverty In Michigan Prison Libraries, Nicholas Norton, Meghan Mcgowan Oct 2024

Dictionaries Denied: Information Poverty In Michigan Prison Libraries, Nicholas Norton, Meghan Mcgowan

Journal of Civil Rights and Economic Development

(Excerpt)

In June of 2022, the Michigan Department of Corrections (“MDOC”) made national news when NPR reported that non-English language dictionaries were banned in state prisons. The rationale for this policy was specious—with an MDOC spokesperson stating: “If certain prisoners all decided to learn a very obscure language, they would be able to then speak freely in front of staff and others about introducing contraband or assaulting staff or assaulting another prisoner.” For instance, Spanish and Swahili dictionaries were restricted or banned based on safety, even though both languages are spoken by millions of people. Dictionaries and other reference materials …

Equalizing Disproportionate Death And Punishment In Black And Brown Communities: An Emergency Shutdown On Death, Inequality, And Deliberate Indifference, Angela Dixon

Journal of Civil Rights and Economic Development

(Excerpt)

According to an old saying, “death is the great equalizer.” But is it? It may be in the sense that absent a contravening force, it is an appointment that all must keep. Yet data indicates that all do not die equally. Socioeconomic status (“SES”), which includes levels of occupation, education, income, and wealth, all delay or advance mortality. People of a higher SES outlive, generally, people of a lower SES; moreover, such disparities continue to widen as trends of income inequality intensify.

Perhaps predictably, race, just like class, exacerbates inequities. Black Americans in the United States remain the pivotal …

Ramat Razim, Near Ẓefat: A Middle Bronze Age Rural Site In The Tel Ḥaẓor Polity, Karen Covello-Paran, Anat Cohen-Weinberger, Barak Tzin, Shlomit Bechar

'Atiqot

An archaeological excavation carried out at Ramat Razim, near Ẓefat, exposed a Middle Bronze Age rural settlement, dated by the ceramic assemblage within Middle Bronze Age II–III. Spatial analysis identified communal workspaces and possible domestic cult practices in specific rooms, and the distribution of the ground stone tools and ceramic storage vessels reflected food-processing activities and a decentralized grain-storage approach. In addition to agriculture, pastoralism—specifically sheep rearing—played a significant role in the settlement’s economy, probably engendering economic exchanges under the influence of Ḥaẓor, the major city in the region. Petrographic analysis linking the pithoi to the Ḥula Valley raised questions …

Rural Complexity In The Intermediate Bronze Age: Settlement Patterns And Intra-Site Spatial Organization In Lower Galilee, Karen Covello-Paran

'Atiqot

This study explores the settlement patterns in Intermediate Bronze Age Lower Galilee, focusing on the Ḥorbat Qishron sites and their socio-economic organization. The spatial arrangement and the hierarchical structures of the settlements are analyzed, particularly in light of the discovery of a walled settlement at Ḥorbat Qishron South, a unique feature in this period. The study also considers the implications of settlement patterns for economic activities, social organization and communal endeavors, shedding light on the role of households as basic economic units and the potential of centralized economic models. Furthermore, it discusses the significance of ceramic assemblages, radiocarbon dating and …
