In today's dynamic organizational landscape, understanding the interplay between leadership behavior and employee creativity is essential for fostering innovation and maintaining competitive advantages. While extensive research has examined various leadership styles and their impact on employee performance, there is a notable gap regarding the effects of abusive supervision on employee creativity and perceived competence. Drawing on the Conservation of Resources (COR) theory, this paper investigates how abusive supervision influences employee creativity and perceived competence. We propose a framework that integrates the negative impact of fear of abusive supervisors as a key factor influencing creativity and employees' perceived competence. By examining …
Bridging The Gap Between Occupational Therapy And Therapeutic Horseback Riding: An Interdisciplinary Approach To Further Engagement In Childhood Occupations, Veronica Smith
Honors Theses
My name is Veronica Smith and I have been a CTRI (certified therapeutic riding instructor) since 2022. I began volunteering at a therapeutic riding program center in elementary school and have accumulated 5000+ hours of experiences that instilled this passion in me. With these experiences, I recognized a gap and developed my thesis project with a clear vision.
With a passion for occupational therapy, and a special interest in equines, I focused my undergrad honors thesis project that also served as my baccalaureate project for the occupational therapy assistant program around these values. I created an activity book that can …

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
The study addresses the problem of evaluating the organizational strategies and performance levels of basic ed-ucation teachers through an innovative approach in sentiment analysis. In the current context, there is a growing need for accurate and reliable methods to measure the impact of organizational strategies on educational per-formance, especially given the importance of educational quality for social development. The existing literature has shown limitations in integrating methods that can handle the complexity and subjectivity of teachers' emo-tional and attitudinal perceptions, creating a gap that this study aims to fill. Using the neutrosophic sentiment analysis method based on neutroalgebra, the study …

An African proverb underscores the role of women in communities: If you teach a man, you educate an individual, but if you teach a woman, you educate a nation. Women play a crucial role in maintaining family farms and community ecosystems in the Deep South. This case study explores the history and roles of two Southern Black women farmers. The study seeks to amplify women’s voices by examining the cultural context from which they operated, the families and generations they influenced, and the obstacles they navigated while operating in a male-dominated industry. Their collective experiences highlight the need for shared …

The Southeastern African American Farmers Organic Network (SAAFON) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Black farming and rural lifeways in the Southeast and U.S. Virgin Islands. The COVID-19 pandemic created unique challenges for SAAFON’s members, exacerbating the existing structural conditions that make farming challenging for Black farmers. These conditions include climate-related disasters, economic disparities, lack of political investment, racism, and related discrimination. In this paper, the author presents the activities that SAAFON has undertaken to address the impact of the pandemic on its members. It provided funding for its members and launched a series of farmer brigades to build …

In Times Of Need The Land Always Provides, And Being Queer Don’T Hurt, Alsie Parks, Lindsey Lunsford
Professional Agricultural Workers Journal
In uncertain times, Black and Brown folks look to each other for mutual aid because they cannot rely on societal structures and governments to support their communities. The necessity of self-reliance is especially true for those located in rural areas. This paper engages the theme of queerness as a lens to explore Black survival strategies used regarding the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. The paper further explores the narrative of Alsie Parks, a Black Southern agrarian native, and her non-nuclear family as they embraced non-traditional ways of being, land-based practices, and the importance of crafting kinship to find both nourishment …

A cooperative is an economically attractive model that allows its members to be owners and users who share profits equally. Thus, the cooperative is considered a successful model to use for socially and historically disadvantaged, minority, and small-scale farmers. An agricultural cooperative empowers such farmers to increase their bargaining power in the marketplace, reduce production and transaction costs, expand current marketing opportunities, and establish new markets that may not be otherwise accessible to an individual producer. The purpose of this paper, therefore, is to assess agricultural cooperatives. It discusses nine items that closely examine the appertaining issues related to agricultural …

The Consequences And Constitutionality Of Training Police To Blame Victims, Margareth Etienne, Richard H. Mcadams
The Consequences And Constitutionality Of Training Police To Blame Victims, Margareth Etienne, Richard H. Mcadams
William & Mary Law Review
A common technique in American interrogations is “moral minimization,” in which investigators excuse or justify the suspect’s criminal behavior on moral grounds. A surprising type of moral minimization is explicit victim-blaming, which includes blaming the victim by endorsing negative stereotypes on the basis of gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation, what we call victim-blaming-bystereotype. No one has previously considered the policy wisdom or constitutionality of this technique. We explore the unintended consequences. One cost is the secondary victimization of those who suffer from crime, especially when they discover how detectives have disparaged them. The second is the effect on the …
A Transformative Standard For Transformative Times: Protecting Student-Athlete Speech In The Era Of Name, Image, And Likeness, Kyle Saxon
William & Mary Law Review
As an entirely new and developing area of the law, NIL [name, image, and likeness] further complicates the existing struggles in determining how NCAA student-athletes should be viewed by the law in the employment context. Such a determination is crucial to understanding the extent of student-athletes’ First Amendment protections. Even as NIL drives the law further in the direction of student-athletes becoming employees of the university, student-athletes are still undeniably enrolled students of the university, and scholastic achievement is still a primary consideration for college athletics.
This unique relationship between student-athletes and their institutions necessitates an entirely new standard for …
Recalibrating Interbranch Bargaining, Emily Berman
Recalibrating Interbranch Bargaining, Emily Berman
William & Mary Law Review
To fulfill its constitutional functions, Congress must have access to information from within the executive branch. Whether it is assessing the need to amend the authorities of administrative agencies, determining whether to fund executive branch programs, or investigating allegations of waste, fraud, and abuse, Congress can act responsibly only if it is able to compile an accurate picture of executive branch activities. When executive branch officials resist these requests—for either legitimate or problematic reasons—the resulting conflict is traditionally resolved amicably through interbranch negotiations, not inter-branch litigation. Indeed, courts heard a total of four congressional-executive information disputes in the nation’s first …

Cities and the Environment (CATE)
As marine mammals navigate their environment, they may likely encounter areas that are both sparsely and heavily populated with human activity. For the latter, marine mammals are increasingly entering urban populated areas where the marine landscape has been significantly transformed both physically and ecologically. At select locations in New York City (NYC), Harbor seals (Phoca vitulina) and gray seals (Halichoerus grypus) frequent the NYC waterways during the winter months. Due to the public interest in these species, and the growing human population with its consequent development of shared habitats, it is critical that we understand the …
