The Cosmic Powers In Paul’S Theology, Ebong Sam Ukpong
The Cosmic Powers In Paul’S Theology, Ebong Sam Ukpong
Master of Sacred Theology Thesis
This thesis deals with neither the meaning of the terms nor with the exegesis of the passages in which these terms are found. Nor shall we attempt to re-interpret or relate what Paul said about "cosmic powers" to the modern thought-forms. The purpose of this work is rather to examine, first of all, the terms employed by Paul to describe the forces of evil in the light of his own Jewish background. We shall not be concerned so much with the question: What does Paul mean? as with the query: Where did Paul get the terms and ideas for what …

Eschatological And Eucharistic Motifs In Luke 12:35-40, Paul E. Deterding
Eschatological And Eucharistic Motifs In Luke 12:35-40, Paul E. Deterding
Master of Divinity Thesis
The words of our Lord recorded by Luke the evangelist in verses35 through 40 of the 12th chapter of his gospel contain a number of allusions to the Passover, the Messianic banquet, the Parousia, and the Lord's Supper. In this study we will analyze this passage theologically in light of these concepts. This theological analysis is intended to indicate to what extent each of these concepts is present in this pericope as well as the way in which these concepts are interrelated. Emphasis will also be placed upon the contribution this passage makes in indicating the factor of continuity in …

A Theology Of Weakness: Word Studies From The Greek Text Of Ii Corinithians 12:9 In Context With Exegesis Of Seven Select Passages Of Scripture, Marva J. Sedore
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
Excerpt: "In his commentary on the second letter of Paul to the Corinthians , R. C. H. Lenski proposes that the verb teleo in II Corinthians 12 :9 is mistranslated . Whereas most translations say, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness , " Lenski believes that the last phrase should read, "for the power is brought to its finish in weakness." It seems that he stands unsupported in this conviction, for my research uncovered no other commentator who suggested such an interpretation."
