Eugène Boré And The Vincentian Missions In The Near East, Stafford Poole C.M. Apr 1984

Eugène Boré And The Vincentian Missions In The Near East, Stafford Poole C.M.

Vincentian Studies

Prior to becoming superior general, Eugène Boré was “the scholar, missionary, priest, educator, linguist, and explorer who played a vital role in shaping French attitudes and policies toward the Christians of the Ottoman Empire.” He worked throughout the Ottoman Empire, Armenia, the Armenian parts of Russia and Iran, and Asia Minor. Boré believed in social regeneration through renewed Catholicism, that Catholicism was the source of all good in western civilization, and that people could be brought to the truth through education. He particularly wanted to reunite the Armenians and Bulgarians with Rome.
