When, on August 13, 2020, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced it was normalizing relations with the state of Israel, few could have predicted the effects it would have. However, since the Emirati decision, three other Arab countries - Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco - have reached agreements with Tel Aviv to normalize relations. Such events are a sharp divergence from the status quo and thus, this thesis examines, through the application of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and analyzed through a constructivist framework, how three Arab media sources - Al-Jazeera, Al-Arabiya, and Al-Mayadeen - discuss and represent these normalization agreements. The Journal of Sociology & Social Welfare

Based on primary and secondary sources and interviews with Arab social workers employed in welfare bureaus during the time under review, the article describes the development of Palestinian social work in Israel in its formative years (1968–1982). The primary finding is that this development took place under a "policy of contempt" towards the Palestinian community's needs. The authorities acknowledged these needs but perpetuated a discriminatory allocation of resources in meeting them compared to Jewish Israelis and disregarded the society's narrative by maintaining a dual welfare system: one for the country's Jewish citizens and a lesser one for their …

บทความวิจัยฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ที่จะศึกษาและวิเคราะห์ถึงผลประโยชน์ของอียิปต์ผ่านโครงการหนึ่งแถบหนึ่งเส้นทางของจีน (The Belt and Road Initiative: BRI) โดยใช้แนวคิดภูมิรัฐศาสตร์แบบดั้งเดิม จากการศึกษาพบว่า อียิปต์ตระหนักดีว่า ลักษณะภูมิประเทศของอียิปต์เป็นพื้นที่ยุทธศาสตร์สำคัญที่จะช่วยผลักดันโครงการ BRI ให้สำเร็จ รวมถึงได้ปฏิรูปมาตรการทางเศรษฐกิจเพื่อดึงดูดการลงทุนจากจีนและต่างประเทศเพิ่มมากขึ้น นอกจากนี้ จีนและอียิปต์เห็นพ้องต้องกันว่า โครงการ BRI กับการพัฒนาตามวิสัยทัศน์อียิปต์ ค.ศ. 2030 (Egypt Vision 2030) เป็นไปในทิศทางเดียวกัน ซึ่งจีนได้เข้ามาลงทุนในเศรษฐกิจอียิปต์ โดยเฉพาะการพัฒนาโครงสร้างพื้นฐานในโครงการสำคัญของ BRI และวิสัยทัศน์อียิปต์ ค.ศ. 2030 เช่น เขตความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจและการค้าคลองสุเอซ เขตพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมคลองสุเอซ และโครงการเมืองหลวงแห่งใหม่ ทำให้ได้รับผลประโยชน์ทางด้านเศรษฐกิจและการเมือง สามารถสร้างงานให้กับประชาชน แต่อียิปต์ไม่ได้รับผลประโยชน์ทางด้านเศรษฐกิจและการเมืองจากโครงการ BRI มากเท่าที่ควร เพราะตลอดระยะเวลา 8 ปีที่อียิปต์เข้าร่วมโครงการ BRI จีนลงทุน ในอียิปต์ภายใต้โครงการ BRI เพียง 4 โครงการ และไม่ได้เป็นประเทศผู้ลงทุนหลักในอียิปต์ รวมถึงอียิปต์ยังคง มีข้อท้าทายความสัมพันธ์กับจีนในเรื่องเขื่อนแกรนด์เอธิโอเปียเรเนซองส์ ในเอธิโอเปีย นอกจากนี้ อียิปต์ยังต้องรักษาความสัมพันธ์กับสหรัฐอเมริกา เพราะหากพึ่งพาจีนมากเกินไป สหรัฐอเมริกาอาจจะพิจารณาลดหรือระงับงบประมาณความช่วยเหลือทางการทหาร

The study examines the types of speech acts of Facebook status updates that are posted by Jordanian and American youth. The participants were from Yarmouk University which is located in northern Jordan and from West Virginia University which is located in the US. The data was elicited from 50 American males, 50 American females, 50 Jordanian males, and 50 Jordanian females. Searle’s taxonomy was used to do the content analysis of the data. Discourse markers are used considerably in Egyptian colloquial Arabic, yet few studies examine them in colloquial Arabic. A mixed-method research design adopting a descriptive corpus-based approach is used to better understand the communicative discourse and vagueness functions of the words bita:ʕ, bita:ʕa, and bitu:ʕ in Egyptian Arabic discourse. This study also highlights the collocational behavior of bita:ʕ, bita:ʕa, and bitu:ʕ as well as their colligation patterns. A correlation is found between colligation patterns of the markers bita:ʕ and its variants and particular discourse and vagueness functions in context. Purpose: This study had three main purposes which were (a) to assess the adequacy and desirability of Arabic in health professional instruction by investigating students and teachers’ perspectives and attitudes, (b) to explore aspects of Arabic medical translations which are not meeting expectations, and lastly, (c) to examine whether the level of education is a predictor of attitude. Method: A questionnaire survey of medical and dental students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels was carried out in 2019 at major universities in Damascus. This study amied at developing psychological resilience scale for the Jordanian environment. The sample of the study consists of (341) individuals (39) addicts, (39) psychopaths, (183) university students (36 males - 147 females) and (50) patients completed the scale in order to find it’s psychometric indicators. In addition to (30) University students participate in pilot study to investigate content validity indicators. The Results of the Study show that after making appropriate analysis the scale contains (30) statements distributed on (4) items and has got high validity and reliability indicators.

While much ink has been spilled by musicologists on the legal standing of music in Islamic jurisprudential scholarship, few scholars have offered as comprehensive a view as Lois Ibsen Al-Faruqi. Thirty-five years after her major works on this issue, this article seeks to reassess her model of musical legitimacy within Muslim scholarship. Al-Faruqi places Qur’ānic recitation at the apex of a unidirectional continuum of sound art, with genres less similar to the recitation of the Qur’ān located progressively further away from it.
