Introduction

There is a large difference in the number of environmental hazards and environmental resources that people live with depending on their race. This is very damaging as certain minorities are being provided with fewer resources and more polluted areas, leading to worse health outcomes.

There is “A strong association between non-white and poor communities and the location of hazardous waste sites…Studies on air quality have documented that minorities and the poor face higher levels of air pollution than other groups” (Pinderhughes 1996).

Drought can directly impact human health through agriculture. In the distant past, human health data is limited, however we can use studying agricultural data to gain insight into the impacts of drought on human health. This study focuses on phytoliths from animal diets in to shed light on human health during the Assyrian Empire (911 – 609 BCE), an agrarian empire that declined during an arid period.

Glucose 6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency is the most prevalent enzyme deficiency of human erythrocytes affecting more than 500 million people globally. G6PD deficiency is the most common hemolytic X-linked genetic disease, which shows a higher prevalence rate in the malarial endemic population. This review paper aims to examine the overall frequency of G6PD deficiency in the Indian population using systemic review, with a special emphasis on the differential prevalence rate across the populations. Japan is in the midst of a population implosion. Schools struggle to fill classrooms, and vacant houses are a common sight in smaller towns. While the demographic shift makes it difficult to sustain traditional ways of life, it also brings opportunities for new possibilities. This essay highlights the challenges and opportunities of demographic change through the stories of two communities: Tsushima City in Aichi Prefecture and Ikuno Ward in Osaka City. In this statewide multiyear investigation, the extent to which differences were present on the STAAR English I End-of-Course exam for Texas high school students as a function of their ethnicity/race (i.e., Asian, Black, Hispanic, and White) for the 2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2020-2021, 2021-2022, and 2022-2023 school years were examined. Archival data from the Public Education Information Management System were obtained for the two school years pre-pandemic (2017-2018 and 2018-2019) and the three years post-pandemic (2020-2021, 2021-2022, and 2022-2023). Economic Status Of Texas Grade 8 Emergent Bilingual Students And Reading: A Pre- And Post-Pandemic Investigation, Teresa A. Dealba, John R. Slate, Clare A. Resilla

In this investigation, we examined differences in performance on the Texas state-mandated reading assessment for Emergent Bilingual students by their economic status (i.e., in poverty, not in poverty). Archival data were obtained from the Texas Education Agency Public Education Information Management System for Grade 8 students for the two pre-pandemic school years (2017-2018 and 2018-2019) and three post-pandemic school years (2020-2021, 2021-2022, and 2022-2023). A lower percentage of Emergent Bilingual students in poverty met the Grade 8 STAAR Reading Approaches Grade Level standard than Emergent Bilingual students not in poverty. Individuals experiencing homeless (IEH) has risen across the U.S. by 7% just in the past year. In response to this increase, and with the dangers of being homeless including a 60% greater mortality rate, residents across four counties in Utah participated in a survey to better understand the community's attitudes towards homelessness and homeless services with the aim to better meet the needs of IEH.
