The Changing Style Of Change In Style: A Critical Case Study On The Aesthetics Of De-Radicalization Experiences, Bernardo Alba
The Changing Style Of Change In Style: A Critical Case Study On The Aesthetics Of De-Radicalization Experiences, Bernardo Alba
Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive
This dissertation explores how aesthetic experiences—not just belief-systems or ideologies—influence both the process of radicalization into, and de-radicalization out of, Far-right nationalist subcultures. It introduces the concept of “aesthetic conversion”: a profound transformative shift in how people experience and express themselves through artistic media and stylistic taste broadly understood (including but not limited to fashion, tattoos, music, dance, creative writing, public speaking, etc.). I argue that such transformations in aesthetic sensibility can spark profound ideological changes, including the possibility of fostering disengagement from such far-right movements. With this concept, I aim to show that aesthetic concerns, far from being incidental …

Watching The Clock: Time-Tracking And The Erosion Of Privacy And Dignity At Work, Tammy Katsabian
Watching The Clock: Time-Tracking And The Erosion Of Privacy And Dignity At Work, Tammy Katsabian
Comparative Labor Law & Policy Journal
This article examines the rise of time-tracking technologies as a dominant form of digital workplace surveillance and their implications for workers’ privacy and dignity. Often framed as neutral tools for enhancing productivity, these systems embed continuous algorithmic oversight into daily work routines, intensifying managerial control and reshaping the employment relationship. Drawing on legal, philosophical, and socio-technical scholarship, the article argues that privacy and dignity are mutually reinforcing values, both of which are undermined by pervasive surveillance practices. Privacy is not treated here as a waivable entitlement grounded in individual consent, but rather as a structural safeguard that protects autonomy and …
Visio Dei, Vision Pro: Beatific Vision And Technological Singularity, John Paul Arceno
Visio Dei, Vision Pro: Beatific Vision And Technological Singularity, John Paul Arceno
Liberty Theological Review
This paper offers a retrieval of the classical Christian theology of beatific vision. The reason behind this is the challenges posed by the progress of digital technology, including Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, and robotics, which are prevalent today. This rapid progress somehow threatens the classical view of beatific vision with its version of technological singularity. Hence, the retrieval of the beatific vision, which is grounded in divine ontology, is much needed. The paper is divided into three parts: (1) Visio Dei, which discusses the doctrine of beatific vision, (2) Vision Pro, which discusses technological singularity, and (3) conclusion, which …
A Bilingual Jesus: Assessing Evidence In The Gospels, Jordan Lavender
A Bilingual Jesus: Assessing Evidence In The Gospels, Jordan Lavender
Liberty Theological Review
This article examines issues of the historical Jesus’ linguistic proficiency, particularly in Greek, while providing an analysis of the use of other languages as well. Looking at recent studies on language use in Greco-Roman Palestine and new conceptualizations of multilingualism, the analysis seeks to clarify the languages used by Jesus. This study examines several case studies from the Gospels including the Aramaic sayings of Jesus, found primarily in Mark, a section of the Beatitudes in the Q material found in Lk 6:20–21, and the Lord’s Prayer in Q, with these theoretical frameworks in mind. It concludes that Jesus likely used …
Textile Work And Its Interface With Climate Change For Quechua Communities In Peru, Esmeralda Torres-Martinez
Textile Work And Its Interface With Climate Change For Quechua Communities In Peru, Esmeralda Torres-Martinez
Capstone Collection
English – Indigenous communities have argued that their knowledge, lived experiences, and representation are crucial to address the climate transition because their communities have adapted to past climatic changes. Although climate change and culture can be interconnected in ways that are unique to each community, little research is done on how cultural practices can be catalysts for climate action. In fact, communities around the world have sparked socio-political movements from within their cultural context to solve both local and global issues. Therefore, this research asks how the practice of traditional textile making and weaving assist Quechua communities with adapting to …
From Larvae To Livelihoods: Examining The Realities Of Black Soldier Fly Farming In Malawi, Emily Herriott
From Larvae To Livelihoods: Examining The Realities Of Black Soldier Fly Farming In Malawi, Emily Herriott
Capstone Collection
Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae offer a cost-effective, nutrient-rich alternative to synthetic fertilizers and conventional feed inputs such as soy, fishmeal, and maize bran in sub-Saharan Africa. In Malawi, where smallholder farmers grapple with declining soil fertility, high input prices, chronic food insecurity, and livestock nutritional challenges, BSF farming is emerging as a promising circular agricultural innovation. Despite its technical promise, the social, economic, and ecological realities of BSF adoption remain underexplored. This study investigates the early implementation of BSF farming in Malawi through the Sustainable Livelihoods Framework, focusing on farmer experiences, challenges, and the social and structural processes shaping uptake …
Illness Terminable And Interminable: A Lacanian Exploration Of Medical Assistance In Dying, Matthew Devine
Illness Terminable And Interminable: A Lacanian Exploration Of Medical Assistance In Dying, Matthew Devine
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
More and more people worldwide are requesting euthanasia, physician-assisted suicide (PAS), or medical assistance in dying (MAiD). Arguments in favor of expanding access to MAiD tend to prioritize the rational, competent, autonomous subject who has the right to make decisions about their body, including their death. Some have argued that this perspective – common in biomedical and bioethical literature – tends to neglect the fact that requests for assisted dying involve a relational structure: a relationship between the subject who requests an assisted death and the Other to whom this request is addressed. After reviewing relevant psychoanalytic approaches to suicide …
Should School Board Elections Be Partisan? Analyzing Elite Discourse In The Debate Over The Structure Of Local Elections, Bre'arra M. Long
Should School Board Elections Be Partisan? Analyzing Elite Discourse In The Debate Over The Structure Of Local Elections, Bre'arra M. Long
McNair Summer Research Program
The goal of this research paper is to identify the most prevalent arguments for and against partisan school board elections while also examining what differences, if any, exist between Republicans and Democrats with respect to the way they talk about the issue. The interdisciplinary fields of political science and linguistics provide helpful context to the effectiveness of political communication in smaller scale, yet salient elections in communities where impacts are most directly felt. My interest lies in how the nationalization of politics influences local government and elections, and how language and the media act as conduits for that relationship. It …

Narrative As Story And Ground: Toward A Dialogic Communication Theory Of Narrative Care, Preston Carmack
Narrative As Story And Ground: Toward A Dialogic Communication Theory Of Narrative Care, Preston Carmack
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
We live in a historical moment when a nuanced understanding of narrative as both ground and story is essential. In examining the work of two primary scholarly voices working with narrative and operating from a communicative lens, Walter R. Fisher and Ronald C. Arnett, this project lays a theoretical foundation for understanding the dialogic interplay of narrative as story and narrative as ground. Through tracing Fisher's and Arnett's contrasting interpretations of the work of Alasdair MacIntyre, a preeminent neo-Thomistic philosopher whose work has significantly contributed to the study of ethics and narrative construction of human rationality, coordinates related to telling …
The Role Of Artificial Intelligence In Transforming Project Management In The Fashion, Selin Yapici
The Role Of Artificial Intelligence In Transforming Project Management In The Fashion, Selin Yapici
Harrisburg University Dissertations and Theses
The quick adaptation of artificial intelligence (AI) is driving a significant revolution in the fashion. The use of AI in project management is still somewhat unexplored, despite its widespread adaptation in design, retail, and marketing. The impact of AI on project management procedures in the fashion industry is examined in this study, with a focus on striking a balance between operational effectiveness and creative freedom. The study is based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Industry 4.0, and Project Management Theory, which collectively offer a multi-theoretical perspective for comprehending the adoption and effects of AI. Examining fashion expert’s perspectives and …

Meet The Fars: An Examination Of The Background, Roles, And Appointment Of Faculty Athletic Representatives At National Collegiate Athletic Association Member Institutions, Chris Corr, Christopher Atwater, Mark S. Nagel, Richard Southall, Rick Eckstein, Marek Taškár
Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics
As many National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) member institutions continue to engage in athletic centric decision-making processes, academic integrity and the campus experience for college athletes is often marginalized. Mandated by the NCAA to represent athletes’ academic interests, the faculty athletics representative (FAR) position is designed to occupy a central role in maintaining the primacy of academia among college athletes. FARs, however, exist within an institutional setting muddled by competing and contradictory logics. Accordingly, given the inherent juxtaposition between the operation of collegiate athletics and the stated role of FARs, the present study sought to examine the characteristics and positional …

Exploring The Lived Experiences Of Nurse Managers: Leadership Development And Competency Acquisition During Role Transition, Jasmine Yvette Mc Gee Williams
Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive
The transition from a clinical nursing role to a nurse manager position is often challenging and stressful. Nurse managers are expected to possess a complex set of leadership competencies; however, many feel unprepared and unsupported during this critical transition. This qualitative interpretive study explored the lived experiences of nurse managers in relation to their leadership development and competency acquisition within the hospital setting, focusing on challenges and successes encountered during the transition into the nurse manager role. Using Interpretive Phenomenological methodology, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 22 nurse managers from various hospital settings across the United States. Two areas of …
Site Formation Processes And Lithic Analysis Of The Swag Site (38al137), John Nathan Shores
Site Formation Processes And Lithic Analysis Of The Swag Site (38al137), John Nathan Shores
Theses and Dissertations
Archaeologists working in the American Southeast have limited ability to contribute to the debates regarding the human colonization of the Americas because relatively undisturbed, well stratified, Paleoindian sites with datable material are rare (Miller 2016:712). The archaeological sites in the Allendale-Briar Creek Paleoindian quarry complex along the Savannah River near Martin, SC have produced sites that contain datable archaeological deposits (Anderson et al. 2016; Waters et al. 2009). One such site, the Swag Site, located in Allendale County, South Carolina, is within the Allendale-Briar Creek Paleoindian quarry complex (Goodyear 2018; Goodyear and Charles 1984; Miller et al. 2016; Oscarson et …
Detection, Occupancy, And Abundance Of Vultures In Mississippi, Jonathan Smith
Detection, Occupancy, And Abundance Of Vultures In Mississippi, Jonathan Smith
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to examine influences of tree cover, light pollution, average ambient air temperature, and roadkill abundance on Black Vulture (Coragyps atratus) and Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura) detection, occupancy, and abundance within Mississippi. Data was collected via road surveys. Highways were selected as transects of 290 m in length to survey for vultures and roadkill. The locations of detected vultures were GPS marked. To evaluate relationships of vulture detection, occupancy, and abundance with the covariates, I used dynamic occupancy models and open binomial N-mixture models. Average ambient air temperature had a positive relationship with Black Vulture …
An Examination Of Potential Occupational Horizons And Site Integrity Through Site Formation Processes At Aklis, St. Croix, Jesse Weaver
An Examination Of Potential Occupational Horizons And Site Integrity Through Site Formation Processes At Aklis, St. Croix, Jesse Weaver
Theses and Dissertations
The Aklis Site, located in the Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge on St. Croix, contains both an artifact-dense shell midden and numerous human burials actively eroding into the Caribbean Sea. Here I examine the records and collections from the site through the lens of site formation theory to ask: (1) Are there detectable occupational horizons within the midden?; (2) To what extent have cultural and non-cultural transforms affected the integrity of the midden? and; (3) If detected, are these occupational horizons of sound enough integrity to allow for future radiocarbon dating that might clarify culture chronology for the greater West …
The Case For Mass Media Communication Theories In The Study Of Artificial Intelligence: A Uses And Gratifications & Parasocial Interaction Theory Approach, Colin Farmer
Theses
This study analyzes communication and relationship building between textual generative Artificial Intelligence programs and their users through the lens of parasocial interactions and uses and gratifications. It measures loneliness, knowledge gaining, and task completion as the primary reasons motivating perceived relationship development with AI applications. Through a quantitative survey, it explores the connections between time spent using AI, as well as the previously mentioned factors and seeks to determine what influences a user’s perceived relationship with an AI chatbot program. Comparisons are also drawn between the relationships with AI and the user’s relationships with celebrities, further expanding the justification for …
