Real-Time Motion-Controllable Autoregressive Video Diffusion, Kesen Zhao, Jiaxin Shi, Beier Zhu, Junbao Zhou, Xiaolong Shen, Yuan Zhou, Qianru Sun, Hanwang Zhang
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Real-time motion-controllable video generation remains challenging due to the inherent latency of bidirectional diffusion models and the lack of effective autoregressive (AR) approaches. Existing AR video diffusion models are limited to simple control signals or text-to-video generation, and often suffer from quality degradation and motion artifacts in few-step generation. To address these challenges, we propose AR-Drag, the first RL-enhanced few-step AR video diffusion model for real-time image-to-video generation with diverse motion control. We first fine-tune a base I2V model to support basic motion control, then further improve it via reinforcement learning with a trajectory-based reward model. Our design preserves the …

AI-mediated facilitation has emerged as a scalable approach to supporting onboarding and coordination in newly formed remote teams, yet existing systems are predominantly text-based. To explore how video-based, virtually embodied AI facilitators shape team experiences, we present TeamWise, which joins video-based onboarding meetings as an on-screen avatar. TeamWise guides teams through a structured facilitation flow of low-stakes activities to foster rapport, mutual awareness, and shared identity. While the overall sequence of activities and facilitation goals is predefined, the facilitator’s turn-by-turn utterances are generated dynamically by an LLM in response to participant input. We conducted a formative study of TeamWise to …

BACKGROUND: Activated T-cell pediatric acute liver failure (TC-PALF) is the most common cause of non-acetaminophen PALF, with poor transplant-free survival. Livers in TC-PALF are infiltrated by effector cytotoxic T lymphocytes with markers of tissue-resident memory function (CD8 Trm) and an interferon gamma (IFNγ) transcriptional signature. The PALF-Immune Response Network (PALF-IRN) and the prospective TReatment for ImmUne-Mediated PathopHysiology (TRIUMPH) clinical trial (NCT04862221) aim to characterize the TC-PALF immune pathology and utility of T-cell directed therapy to improve transplant-free survival.
METHODS: TRIUMPH patients with TC-PALF were compared with healthy children and disease controls utilizing multiparameter flow cytometry and 3' single-cell RNA sequencing …

A Novel Nudt16-Based Strategy For Producing Defined Phosphoribosylated Substrates To Study Nampt Antiviral Activity Against Hsv-1, Steph Nivaggioli
Bioengineering Master's Theses
Herpes simplex virus (HSV) is a highly prevalent human pathogen whose symptoms are characterized by the formation of painful blisters and ulcers. There are two major families of HSV: HSV-1, primarily transmitted through oral contact, and HSV-2, predominantly spread through sexual contact. Periodic reactivation of the virus enables continued transmission and recurrent disease. Antiviral drugs that suppress viral replication are available to the public; however, no curative therapy exists.
Recent studies suggest that HSV reprograms host cellular metabolism to support its replication. Notably, this includes the manipulation of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD⁺) homeostasis. Under standard physiological conditions, NAD⁺ is consumed …

Detailed Single-Cell Mapping Of The Transcriptional Response To A Virus Infection Driven By Copy-Back Viral Genomes, Yanling Yang, Emna Achouri, Munyaradzi Tambo, Carolina B. López
2020-Current year OA Pubs
The antiviral response to several clinically significant viruses, including respiratory syncytial virus and parainfluenza virus, is driven by copy-back viral genomes (cbVGs) generated during virus replication. However, the broader impact of cbVGs on the functional states of host cells remains undefined. Here, we developed a single-cell RNA-sequencing and computational framework to map cbVG-driven host responses during Sendai virus infection. Unsupervised profiling identified distinct transcriptional states throughout the course of infection, highlighting a shift from early antiviral signaling to later inflammatory and remodeling programs. Stratifying infected cells by cbVG status demonstrated that cbVG-positive cells initiate interferon and chemokine programs, which later …

Introduction Wildlife health is integral to functioning, complex ecosystems [1], directly and indirectly influencing the health of people, animals, plants, and the environment [2–4]. Healthy wildlife populations are essential for ecosystem services and are at the heart of the One Health approach [3,4], which aims to sustainably balance and optimize the health of people, animals, and ecosystems through multisectoral and transdisciplinary collaboration [5]. Despite its importance, wildlife health initiatives often operate in silos, limiting capacity to address transboundary threats such as emerging diseases, pollution, and environmental changes. Anthropogenic changes, including habitat loss, degradation, fragmentation, and unsustainable harvesting, exacerbate wildlife health …

Are You Ready To Embrace Ai-Generated Art? Exploring The Differential Effects Of Ai Versus Human Agents On Consumer Response, Seojin Stacey Lee, Yaeri Kim, Kiwan Park
Asia Marketing Journal
With a growing integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into creative domains, understanding its impact on consumer responses remains a critical area of inquiry. This research examines how agent type (AI vs. human) and art type (fine art vs. art-infused product) influences consumer purchase intention, along with the underlying psychological mechanism. Across three empirical studies, we find that consumers report higher purchase intention for art-infused products compared to fine art when created by AI. In contrast, this difference in purchase intention is diminished when the products are created by human artists. Perceived incompatibility functions as a moderated mediator in this process. …

The Tribal Energy Act: A Necessary Step Toward The Electrification Of The Navajo Nation, Carington Lowe, Michael Hamersky
Pepperdine Law Review
The Navajo Nation stands as a sovereign nation, yet many families still lack access to electricity because of enduring historical, structural, and regulatory barriers. This Article identifies the legal and technical barriers that have hindered meaningful progress and argues that supplementing the utility grid with distributed energy resources, such as biodigesters, offers a viable path toward electrification, particularly for remote and rural communities within the Navajo Nation. Biodigesters convert organic waste generated through community practices, such as sheep raising, into biogas through an anaerobic process. This form of energy reflects circular economy principles while also aligning with Diné cultural practices …

Advanced Manufacturing And Materials Of A Biomimetic Hoof For Space Robotics Applications, Benjamin Heckel
Student Research Symposium (SRS)
Planetary surfaces often feature steep, uneven, and unpredictable terrain conditions that resemble some of the most challenging natural environments on Earth. In these terrestrial settings, certain animals have evolved to navigate complex landscapes with remarkable agility. One such example is the mountain goat, an animal whose hooves have evolved for stable and precise movement across rocky, inclined surfaces. This biological adaptation provides a useful model for improving robotic mobility in planetary exploration. This study draws inspiration from that natural adaptation to develop a bio-mimetic robotic hoof designed to enhance traction, durability, and adaptability for extraterrestrial exploration. By replicating the mechanical …

Hybrid Hierarchical Swarm Robots For Planetary Exploration, Eeman Abid
Student Research Symposium (SRS)
This project proposes a novel approach to planetary exploration utilizing a hybrid hierarchical swarm robotic system inspired by social insect colonies. The project will develop a centralized 'queen' robot that provides high-level direction to a team of semi-autonomous 'worker' robots, each capable of making local decisions while following the queen's strategic guidance. This structure aims to enhance adaptability and efficiency by balancing centralized coordination with decentralized execution. The approach aligns with NASA's CADRE mission, which uses coordinated rovers to map the lunar surface. By combining simulation in ROS2/Gazebo with physical testing on lunar regolith simulant, this research will evaluate how …

The Sour Truth: Maine's Refusal To Provide Agricultural Workers Equal Employment Rights By Statutory Exclusion, Natalie Jump
The Sour Truth: Maine's Refusal To Provide Agricultural Workers Equal Employment Rights By Statutory Exclusion, Natalie Jump
Maine Law Review
Agricultural work is some of the most dangerous and grueling work there is, but you wouldn't know that from the way Maine's wage and hours laws have treated agricultural workers, both historically and today. Until 2025, farmworkers were not entitled to Maine minimum wage and were guaranteed only the significantly lower federal minimum wage. The Maine State Legislature decided that agricultural workers deserved more and passed a law during the first session of the 132nd Legislature that required agricultural workers to be paid Maine minimum wage. However, agricultural workers remain statutorily exempt from the definition of "employee" and therefore still …
The Arbitration Web Ensnaring Every Consumer: The Next Evolution In Corporate Strategy To Compel Arbitration, Michael Conklin
The Arbitration Web Ensnaring Every Consumer: The Next Evolution In Corporate Strategy To Compel Arbitration, Michael Conklin
Maine Law Review
This first-of-its-kind Article uses a novel hypothetical to explore the expanding role of compelled arbitration. The hypothetical involves numerous large corporations agreeing to cross-reference each other in their arbitration agreements, thus attempting to create a massive arbitration web ensnaring nearly every American and allowing corporations to compel arbitration against parties with whom they never interacted. This Article presents the case that courts might enforce such a scheme based on the judicial trend toward ever-expanding compelled arbitration jurisprudence, the docket-clearing incentives faced by judges, existing case law allowing some non-signatories to enforce arbitration agreements, the strong assumption in favor of arbitration, …
