Bible A, Leaf With The Prologue To And Beginning Of The Prophesy Of Ezekiel, Unknown
Bible A, Leaf With The Prologue To And Beginning Of The Prophesy Of Ezekiel, Unknown
Sacred Leaves Manuscript Collection
The leaf begins the Prophesy of Ezekiel. A decorated initial "E" begins the prologue. The historiated initial "E," depicting Ezekiel sleeping with the vision of the four heads of the beasts above him, begins the incipit. The inclusion of halos above each beast's head points to Christian interpretation of the animals of the tetramorph as the four evangelists.
Bible A, Leaf With The End Of Acts, And The Prologue To And Beginning Of The Epistle Of James, Recto, Unknown
Bible A, Leaf With The End Of Acts, And The Prologue To And Beginning Of The Epistle Of James, Recto, Unknown
Sacred Leaves Manuscript Collection
The Epistle of James stresses that faith must be backed by action. The Epistle of James emphasizes the practicalities of exercising Christianity. A hybrid with an animal head, mouth open and ears pointed straight back, resides in the initial "A" that opens the prologue to the Epistle. James stands in front of a building in the shape of a tower in the opening initial "P." This historiated initial is one of the tallest among the Bible 'A' illustrations, stretching down 34 lines of text.

Open Educational Resources
This resource includes suggested teaching materials, posters and other visual aids, and two worksheets in epidemiology and virology, respectively. The target audience for this resource is healthcare majors in clinical microbiology courses. The laboratory activities are adapted to work with a free hands-on teaching phone application (Operation Outbreak) that models an outbreak in real-time, allowing the students to explore interventions and mitigation strategies.

Prevention and Community Health Faculty Publications
Background
A 2006 avian influenza (AI) outbreak resulted in mass removal of chickens in Lower Egypt, which decreased the household supply of poultry. Poultry, a key animal-source food, contains nutrients critical for child growth. This paper examines determinants of stunting between 2006 and 2008 in children 6 to 59 months of age within the context of the AI outbreak.
Methods
The 2005 and 2008 nationally representative Egypt Demographic and Health Surveys (EDHS) were used to analyse anthropometric data from 7,794 children in 2005 and 6,091 children in 2008. Children, 6–59 months of age, with length for age Z-score < −2 S.D. were categorized as stunted. Predictors of stunting were examined by bivariate and multivariable analyses, focusing on Lower Egypt, where a rise in stunting occurred, and Upper Egypt, where stunting declined.

English Literary Interest In Exploring The Romantic Eastern World, G. Mamarasulova, M. Mamarasulova
Mental Enlightenment Scientific-Methodological Journal
This article examines the stories which based on authentic East in the early English Romantic literature and their main role of interest to create an extraordinary eastern world and motifs. By examining these historically important researches, I clarify that how the concept of Orientalism appeared in English literature. This article is written on the basis of the issues of historical eastern formation of the oriental stories. It expresses such features as a genuine Oriental environment and the ancients’ oriental works which many foreign scholars and diplomats of the late eighteenth century were interested in. The Oriental literature was really a …

Parents' Interests And Abilities As Sources Of Young Children's Everyday Learning Opportunities, Carl J. J. Dunst 4320065
Journal of Family Strengths
Findings from a national survey of parents’ strengths (personal interests and individual abilities) and how interests and abilities were used as sources of young children’s everyday learning opportunities are reported. The participants were 368 parents of young children birth to 6 years of age residing in 49 of the 50 United States. Participants were asked to indicate if any of 70 everyday activities were personal interests or individual abilities, if their youngest children were routinely involved in the activities, and if involved, if their children learned new behavior or skills. Data analysis was guided by a transactional, participation-based paradigm where …

Aeroecological processes, especially powered flight of animals, can rapidly connect biological communities across the globe. This can have profound consequences for evolutionary diversification, energy and nutrient transfers, and the spread of infectious diseases. The latter is of particular consequence for human populations, since migratory birds are known to host diseases which have a history of transmission into domestic poultry or even jumping to human hosts. In this chapter, we present a scenario under which a highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) strain enters North America from East Asia via postmolting waterfowl migration. We use an agent-based model (ABM) to simulate the …

Head-to-head comparisons of conventional influenza vaccines with adenovirus (Ad) gene-based vaccines demonstrated that these viral vectors can mediate more potent protection against influenza virus infection in animal models. In most cases, Ad vaccines are engineered to be replication-defective (RD-Ad) vectors. In contrast, replication-competent Ad (RC-Ad) vaccines are markedly more potent but risk causing adenovirus diseases in vaccine recipients and health care workers. To harness antigen gene replication but avoid production of infectious virions, we developed “single-cycle” adenovirus (SC-Ad) vectors. Previous work demonstrated that SC-Ads amplify transgene expression 100-fold and produce markedly stronger and more persistent immune responses than RD-Ad vectors …

Geraldo is a story about what an immigrant undergoes when he leaves one culture and tries to 'join' another culture. An immigrant suffers a triple disruption: he loses his sense of place, he enters into an alien language, and he finds himself surrounded by beings whose social behavior, norms and traditions are very unlike, and sometimes even offensive to his own. The explanation of the leading ideas in this manual help students and teachers explore the philosophical themes in Geraldo. The discussion plans, exercises, and activities are designed to foster and cultivate the process of philosophical dialogue in the classroom. …
