An Exploratory Qualitative Study Of Perinatal Experiences In An Acute Setting During Early Phases Of The Covid-19 Pandemic, Sharon Hoosein, Pamela Winchester, Stephanie Babinski, Naomi Smith, Payalben Bhavsar, Susan Law
Patient Experience Journal
The COVID-19 pandemic was highly disruptive for people delivering babies in-hospital and for obstetrical healthcare professionals. The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences of people with or without COVID-19 giving birth in a community-based hospital to provide patient insight to obstetrical care providers regarding the services/policies used during the pandemic. Nine interviews were conducted with participants within six months of giving birth in-hospital – four who tested positive for COVID-19 and five who tested negative. Seven themes were identified in the analysis: conflicting emotions; experiences of COVID-related protocols; altered experiences of pregnancy and birth; other aspects of …

Iron Age Ii And Persian-Period Wine Production In Southern Samaria: New Data From Archaeological Surveys, Aharon Tavger
Iron Age Ii And Persian-Period Wine Production In Southern Samaria: New Data From Archaeological Surveys, Aharon Tavger
'Atiqot
New evidence for Iron Age II and Persian-Period wine production in southern Samaria, including many winepresses and bell-shaped winery pits, has recently come to light, expanding our knowledge and revising some of our understandings concerning this phenomenon. While it was widely accepted that industrial wine production during these periods was confined to central Judah, in Jerusalem’s environs, it is now clear that wine was also produced throughout the southern Samaria region, particularly on the desert fringes. Some of these wine-production sites seemingly functioned already during Iron Age IIB, under Northern Kingdom control, while some of the sites also operated under …

Political Functions Of Slovene National Mythological Heroes With Regard To The Changing Socio-Political Circumstances And Needs, Polona Tratnik
Political Functions Of Slovene National Mythological Heroes With Regard To The Changing Socio-Political Circumstances And Needs, Polona Tratnik
Narrative Culture
This article explores how the motif of an ordinary man who confronts a powerful antagonist endangering the community has been used to help achieve national political goals. In 1858, Slovenian writer Fran Levstik wrote the tale of Martin Krpan, a mighty hero who saves the Empire. The character was inspired by the folktale hero Peter Klepec, as well as the medieval knight Gašper Lambergar who saved the Holy Roman Emperor. In the twentieth century, writers retold the tale of Peter Klepec at significant historical moments—on the eve of the breakup of the Habsburg Empire and before and after World War …

The Impacts Of Recreational Infrastructure On Mammal Use Of Riparian Zones In Northern California Regional Parks, Emily A. Matthews
The Impacts Of Recreational Infrastructure On Mammal Use Of Riparian Zones In Northern California Regional Parks, Emily A. Matthews
Master's Theses
Public lands have been important for the protection of riparian habitats; however, many public lands are also used for recreation, which can reduce mammal habitat use. Understanding how mammals are affected by recreation in riparian areas can help guide management decisions. The goal of this research is to understand the effect of recreation on mammal use of riparian habitats in two popular East Bay Regional Parks, Charles Lee Tilden and Wildcat Canyon, and to map the extent of that impact. Cameras were deployed in the riparian areas of a high, moderate, and low development site (Alvarado, Tilden, and Wildcat Canyon) …
Investigating Spatiotemporal Trends Using Precursory Signatures: Implications To Develop Short-Term Earthquake Forecasting Techniques In Sumatra-Andaman Region, Ramya Jeyaraman J
Investigating Spatiotemporal Trends Using Precursory Signatures: Implications To Develop Short-Term Earthquake Forecasting Techniques In Sumatra-Andaman Region, Ramya Jeyaraman J
Theses and Dissertations
Earthquake forecasting is a challenging field due to Earth's heterogeneous nature. This research aims to develop a short-term earthquake forecasting model by analyzing spatiotemporal trends and precursory signatures in the Sumatra-Andaman region, known for its high seismic activity and tsunami risk. The study adopts an interdisciplinary approach, integrating solid earth tides (SET), micro shocks, and outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) to gain deeper insights into seismic nucleation processes. The research begins by using Singular Spectral Analysis (SSA) to identify potential seismically vulnerable areas through the analysis of irregularities in SET.
A spatiotemporal analysis of micro shocks is conducted to assess the …
Exploring The Role Of Tissue-Resident T Cells In Neurotropic Viral Infections And Opioid-Induced Immune Disorders During Exposure And Withdrawal, Shenjian Ai
Arts & Sciences Graduate Student Theses and Dissertations
Tissue-resident T cells play a crucial role in the immune response to neurotropic viral infections and opioid-induced immune disorders. Understanding the roles of tissue-resident T cells in these contexts is essential for developing therapeutic strategies to mitigate their detrimental effects while enhancing their protective functions. The chemokine receptor CXCR6 and its ligand CXCL16 are critical in maintaining the population of tissue-resident T cells in the CNS. CXCR6 is expressed on CD8 T cells that persist in the CNS after recovery from West Nile virus infection. Research has shown that CXCL16, produced by microglia and other myeloid cells, binds to CXCR6 …
Faint Glimmers: Redrawing The Housewife In Yamada Murasaki's Talk To My Back, Ceres Lovelace
Faint Glimmers: Redrawing The Housewife In Yamada Murasaki's Talk To My Back, Ceres Lovelace
Dissertations and Theses
Yamada Murasaki's seminal manga collection Talk to My Back, originally titled Shinkirari, tells a story of a woman's gradual journey toward agency within the constraints of a nuclear patriarchal family. Set within the everyday suburban life of Chiharu in 1980s Japan, Yamada uses subtle visual cues and restrained narrative techniques to illustrate her protagonist's struggles and quiet breakthroughs as she questions her identity and renegotiates her role as a housewife and mother.
By exploring the often-overlooked inner world of a housewife, Yamada scrutinizes traditional gender roles and reveals the burden and psychological toll of the emotional labor imposed on …
