From Trauma To Triumph: A Qualitative Content Analysis Of Posttraumatic Growth In Children’S Animated Films, Crystal Victoria Tasker
From Trauma To Triumph: A Qualitative Content Analysis Of Posttraumatic Growth In Children’S Animated Films, Crystal Victoria Tasker
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Children’s animated films have often been analyzed for problematic depictions of gender and cultural stereotypes, but far less attention has been given to how these narratives may portray psychological adversity and transformation. This study addressed this gap by examining how posttraumatic growth (PTG) is symbolized through the narrative arcs of ten Disney films released between 2013 and 2023. The purpose of this research was to explore how these films illustrate themes of emotional transformation, utilizing a theoretical foundation based on Tedeschi and Calhoun’s PTG model, which emphasizes five domains of growth following adversity: appreciation of life, enhanced relationships, personal strength, …
“Land Back With Strings Attached”: Centering California Indian Perspectives On The Integration Of Traditional Ecological Knowledge Into California Environmental Policy, Lauren Crane
Undergraduate Honors Theses
In response to a changing climate and while reckoning with their treatment of California Indians, the State of California has embraced Traditional Ecological Knowledge (T.E.K.) and is working to integrate it into their environmental policies. While many scientists and policymakers view T.E.K. as an important resource for environmental management, how do the holders of this knowledge perceive its integration? This research centers the perspectives of California Indian tribes who engaged with the state in the 2024 Tribal Nature-Based Solutions program - an example of a State policy to integrate T.E.K. Their perspectives highlight the different concerns, priorities, and preferred methods …
Influence Of Urbanization On Diel Activity Patterns Across Seasons For Four Mesocarnivore Species Along An Urban-To-Rural Gradient Through Boston, Massachusetts, Myra M. Goes
Honors Program Theses and Projects
Urbanization is a growing threat to wildlife and poses unique challenges that animals must overcome to thrive in developed places. Temporal partitioning is one method that wildlife may employ to persist among the increased predation, competition, and human presence pressures of urban spaces. To evaluate diel patterns of mesocarnivores along an urban-to-rural (URG) gradient, data were utilized from camera traps established at 27 sites along a URG in southeastern Massachusetts as part of the Urban Wildlife Information Network (UWIN). Camera trap photos from summer and winter between 2023 to 2025 were used and filtered for coyote (Canis latrans), northern raccoon …
