Health Is Wealth: The Correlation Of Wellness Programs & Productivity In Canada And The U.S., Madeline Wert
Business and Economics Summer Fellows
Does health impact the productivity of workers? Are there differences between the U.S. and Canada? Firms both in Canada and the U.S. deal with issues of presenteeism and absenteeism. Presenteeism is when an employee shows up to work but they are distracted by their own or a family member’s health issue. One response to reduce presenteeism and absenteeism are workplace wellness programs. Workplace wellness programs are facilitated programs by a firm to promote the health and wellbeing of their employees, which benefits the employer and the employees. There are additional incentives for U.S. employers to implement workplace wellness programs as …

How Are Key Demographic Indicators Related To Covid-19 Reported In The United States: A Data Review Protocol—Study Description, Charlotte Brasseux, Thoai Ngo, Mingqi Song
Poverty, Gender, and Youth
The COVID-19 pandemic is evolving fast and affecting rich and poor countries; however, the social determinants of the health outcomes associated with COVID-19 have not been well characterized. While there is increasing discussion of COVID-19 disparities in the media, no systematic compilation of data exists that synthesizes what and how official reporting platforms disaggregate demographic indicators of COVID-19 testing, cases, hospitalizations, recoveries and deaths. This review will provide a comprehensive overview of what and how federal and local health officials report COVID-19 cases. Having this information nationally and subnationally can help health officials to deploy a more targeted response effort …

The United States faces a hypercompetitive geopolitical landscape in the Indo-Pacific region, arguably the most consequential theater for US national interests over the coming decades. Although the United States has created exquisite military capabilities to counter insurgencies and fight terrorists, rivals like China have developed a whole-of-government toolkit focused on expanding their span of control and freedom of action, separating the United States from its allies, and deterring US leaders from greater engagement in East Asia.
China is actively transforming its military forces, with an eye toward defeating the United States in the event of armed hostilities. The People’s Republic …

The Influence Of Telehealth For Better Health Across Communities., Jane A. Mcelroy, Tamara M. Day, Mirna Becevic
Project ECHO Bibliography
Rapid spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) forced an abrupt shift in the traditional US health care delivery model to meet the needs of patients, staff, and communities. Through federal policy changes on telehealth, patient care shifted from in-person to telephone or video visits, and health care providers reached out to patients most at risk for exacerbation of chronic disease symptoms. ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes), a videoconferencing peer learning application, engaged health care providers across Missouri in the treatment and management of complex COVID-19-positive patients. Re-envisioning health care in the digital age includes robust utilization of telehealth to …
