The perception of binge drinking among students is skewed to an extreme that provides an excuse for consuming excessive amounts of alcohol. Recent tragic events pertaining to binge drinking steer this study towards clarifying the clouded perceptions students have of alcohol consumption. It is important to understand variables that may affect understanding and decisions that lead to abusing alcohol. It is intended to present factors that can help prevent circumstances and situations that put students’ health at risk. Millennial generation students are a growing market for the travel and tourism industry, yet tourism marketers lack research regarding travel habits and motivations for them. As a result, the travel and leisure industry have not been able to capitalize on this revenue stream. The purpose of this study was to explore the beliefs, motivations, and attitudes that millennial generation students have about the benefits of travel and leisure. Topics for the literature review included motivations and attitudes, and qualitative research. A brief narrative description of the journal article, document, or resource. For the past 20 years, the authors have been reading and teaching literary memoir to students of all ages. In the mid-1980s, they began looking for ways to incorporate more nonfiction into their literature classes, hoping to find a fresh genre unflattened by instruction. They wanted to explore with students a genre that literary critics had not already overanalyzed and for which they had not created formulaic heuristics for student analysis. More than anything else, the authors wanted to find literary works that connected directly with students' lived experiences. …

This study examines the perspective of bullying according to students' who are labeled with Asperger syndrome. Bullying is a growing problem in our schools today that greatly affects a student's education and life. The results are traumatic and linger for extensive periods of time, greatly affecting the student's education both short and long term. For this study, I conducted my research utilizing an action research oriented framework. As part of my action research, I obtained and evaluated data utilizing the qualitative research and analysis methodology. Through in-depth interviewing, students shared their perspective on bullying. The session reports on two institutional initiatives for connecting first-year students with the library. The first project, situated in a research university environment, Wayne State University, utilized technology to create a first-year webpage (http://www.lib.wayne.edu/sites/fye/) that brought together library information and resources with relevant university-wide services. The presenters begin with a demonstration of the webpage, discussing the impetus for the project, the literature review and other research that went into the design and development. They report on the findings of the usability studies conducted with the webpage. Using a think-aloud protocol reviewed by the university’s institutional review board, students completed a …

My project was designed to address the potential academic improvement through adding movement in an academic classroom setting. I believe that movement is crucial for a child to learn. To have the most opportunity for movement in the classroom a room with no desks would be best. For my project I created lesson plans that incorporated movement in the academic subjects, outside physical education classes. I also designed classroom layouts that provided more open space. I designed rooms that still have desks, but moved out of the way as well as classrooms that did not use desks at all. For …
