The Voice: 1901-1910

This edition of the Wooster Voice begins with an announcement about Dr. Cook. On April 21st, 1908, Dr. Frederick Cook went to the North Pole and planted an American flag in the soil there. After this announcement, there is a poem by Waldo H. Dunn on the subject of planting a flag in a polar environment. The opening article for this issue depicts the convocation of 1909 and the introduction to the class of 1913. An article discussing the new football coach follows on the pages after. The issue ends with advertisements for a number of local businesses.

This is volume 28 of the College of Wooster’s Index collection. The Index is the college’s yearbook and includes an annual record of the events at Wooster. This edition was published in the interest of the then University of Wooster by members of the junior class. The Index starts with a retrospect of the year with pictures of the campus. Additionally, the volume includes alumni, trustees, faculty, and students. Detailed in this volume is information on the endowment used for rebuilding the "New Wooster."
