If we introspect, it is us only who have to be blamed for the current trends and keeping all these facts into account, there is an urgent need to take steps to resurrect the images of doctors in the eyes of the community. It is a fact that present day students' enters the course without any priming and have …

The ongoing digital transformation of the construction industry, known as Construction 4.0, requires students in built-environment programs to gain adequate exposure to emerging technologies. Despite this need, many faces significant barriers to meaningful engagement. This study explores the factors limiting students’ learning experiences related to Construction 4.0 in Nigerian universities and polytechnics. Using a stratified random sampling method, 154 students from one university and one polytechnic were surveyed through a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using frequency distribution, relative importance index, and the Mann-Whitney test. Results identify key obstacles such as limited peer collaboration, insufficient funding and resources, and weak …

How School Professionals Perceive They Can Engage Parents In Helping Children In Fifth Grade Cope Adaptively With Stress, Hector Alejandro Soto
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
National education statistics indicate issues of aggressive behaviors in middle schools, such as bullying and disrespecting teachers. This suggests that fifth-grade students could benefit from parental intervention to manage stress and reduce such behaviors. However, there is limited information on effectively engaging parents in this process. The study involved a purposive sample of 20 school professionals from four schools in a large southwestern U.S. school district who were invited to address this gap. Nine professionals completed the online survey of six qualitative, open-ended questions regarding engaging parents in helping fifth graders cope with stress. The questions focused on establishing meaningful …

Africanism In America: Exploring Hybrid Identities Of African Students In The Us, Ruth A. Yeboah
Masters Theses
This study interrogates the intercultural experiences of African international students (AIS) in a US Midwestern University. With a focus on West African students, the project explores how students confront and overcome linguistic, cultural, and systemic barriers as they create new dynamic spaces which are neither American nor African, but a mixture of both in a predominantly White institution. Drawing on the theoretical constructs of hybridity and language ideology, the findings reveal how AIS actively negotiate identity by using traditional African cultural traits, rooted in Africanism—with new cultural influences, generating unique, fluid and constantly-evolving hybrid identities. I utilized ethnographic observations …

The research participants were nine Junior and Senior ELLs with varying levels of English proficiency. Students wrote a pre-assessment argumentative essay without a graphic organizer, and then later wrote a summative argumentative essay with the help of a graphic organizer designed by the researcher. The researcher compared their pre-assessment scores to the summative assessment scores, which showed both a neutral and positive correlation between using a graphic organizer and improving in score. Findings of the …

Post-Secondary Educational Interventions For Youth Aging Out Of Foster Care: A Systematic Review, Catherine Ware
Honors Scholar Theses
Youth with experience in foster care (YEFC) face significant educational disparities, with only a small fraction completing postsecondary education compared to the general population. These disparities stem from a complex interplay of adversities including placement instability, financial insecurity, trauma, and lack of support systems. In recent years, campus-based support programs (CSPs) have emerged to address these barriers and promote college access and success for YEFC. This systematic review synthesizes findings from 10 studies examining 15 CSPs across the United States, with a focus on (a) student perceptions of program experiences and (b) educational outcomes associated with program participation. Awareness And Attitudes Toward Diabetes Among Students In The California State University System, Cesar Fajardo
Electronic Theses, Projects, and Dissertations
Background and Aims: The prevalence of type 2 diabetes has been increasing globally. Studies examining patient awareness and attitudes toward diabetes have been conducted and found that diabetes education does increase patient knowledge but has no effect on attitudes. Additionally, many of these studies did not assess university students’ views on type 2 diabetes. Given that type 2 diabetes incidence is increasing among young adults, more attention must be given to this population. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate CSUSB students' understanding and attitudes toward type 2 diabetes.

Electronic Theses, Projects, and Dissertations
Mental health in higher education environments is a topic that has the need for exploration and discussion. Students with poor mental health face additional stressors and challenges in their academic and personal areas of life. It is critical for colleges and universities to address the topic of mental health and understand how it can affect students, as well as to be able to provide the proper support and services. By having more conversations about mental health on campus and providing easily accessible and inclusive resources for students, it can create a comfortable environment on campus for students to be able …

Increasing Social-Emotional Skills Of First-Grade Students, Faviola Montoya
Capstone Projects and Master's Theses
First-grade students have not yet fully developed their socio-emotional skills around managing their emotions. Children who have not been able to develop their socio-emotional skills may bully other students and receive more discipline from the teacher. When the children learn how to manage their socio-emotional skills, they will become kinder and helpful to each other. To address this issue, I have created a three-day lesson plan for first graders at Monte Bella Elementary School in Salinas, California.

Several authors have developed measurement scales and validated them mainly among students and teachers who have media and information literacy knowledge. Although no evidence is tracked for any research conducted, MIL has been an unexplored field in the Western Balkans region. This article delves into developing and testing a scale for measuring the level of Media and Information Literacy among students in Albania. Firstly, it employs an exploratory qualitative approach, with the use of focus groups, the results of which contributed to the design of …
