A Study Of Retention Of Percentage, Fred Dellett

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

The problem of this thesis was to determine by means of a test the retention of the fundamentals of percentage as shown by beginning eighth grade pupils, who were taught percentage the previous year in the seventh grade. The fundamentals of percentage are here considered as the changing of percents to decimal fractions or common fractions, the reverse procedures, and the three types of problems arising from the relation, base times rate equals part. These quantities, base, rate, and part, are represented in the example, 300 X 12% = 36, respectively. Because of the inherent relationship of decimal fractions and …

The Wooster Voice (Wooster, Oh), 1945-12-14, Wooster Voice Editors

The Voice: 1941-1950

This issue of the newspaper announces the brand new study program that will be implemented at the college: independent study. September 1946 marked the date of the installation of this new academic process. The current sophomore and freshmen were allowed to choose between the existing program or the new program, but all new students would be required to finish their time at the college under the new process. On page 2, there is an article that announces that the Poetry Association published the work of several Wooster students. The issue ends with a number of advertisements from local businesses.

An Instrumental Music Method For Teaching Band Instruments In Classes In The Fourth And Fifth Grades, Robert A. Gantner

The Basic Instrumental Method is an attempt to provide music materials suitable for the teaching of instrumental music to children in the grade schools using the class method. Four approaches have been used in developing this method. They are the following: (1) The selection of six basic instruments suitable for small children, (2) arrangement of the material in such a manner as to allow for individual advancement, (3) a well graded presentation of rhythmic problems, and (4) a recognition of the psychological value of motivation.
